  1. Alright Mr Picky! A Saucisson of dramatic over exuberance or poetic licence for effect perchance. Arrested, no - although it is technically possible. But ask Piers Morgan if he feels hard done to for expressing an opinion....
  2. Agree with ALL of it.... I wonder how my life might have been different if I'd moved to Oz where it's not (yet) a criminal offence to hold an opinion and voice it as one sees fit? Too late for Piers Morgan.... Ah well, shame, all he did was say what he thought. Not saying I 'like' the bloke but how he put up with the sort of PC shite that pervades society these days, for as long as he did, is somewhat admirable.
  3. What is the reason for the TPO? Has there recently been a planning application nearby? Why would the LA ‘suddenly’ feel the need for a TPO on such previously relatively long standing trees? Pics seem to indicate mature trees, previously pollarded/topped, elevated position immediately adjacent to highway. A TPO at this stage might usually be as a consequence of a perceived ‘threat’ to tree retention or a consequence of somebody at Parish or LA level getting all excited about trees and attempting to initiate mass TPOs. Future tree management isn’t barred by a TPO but the reason, nature and extent of proposed work needs to be approved by LA. This can often be perceived as intrusive and burdensome depending on the TO’s personal approach to such matters.
  4. 🤣
  5. Good question! Naive landowners and poorly informed tree workers might not realise it could be a route to securing replanting at landowner expense?
  6. He’s an LA contractor 🤣
  7. What bullocks or stocks?? 😳 ’kin Lib Dem’s stole the LA in Kernow - proper ‘stole’ not Trump stole. There’s no kahoonas on a Lib Dem but they should be in the stocks!
  8. Any chance of arranging for a kick in the bullocks? Id actually pay for that opportunity where appropriate 😂 If that’s a bit too rich, town and parish stocks maybe??
  9. Them’s the ‘rules.’ Rules written by idiots and implemented by morons.
  10. They seem more outraged by the fly tipping rather than the outlandish cost charged to clear it up.
  11. A monkey? Bet it’s double that though.... Just heard today the Clerk of our PC has gone on the sick again. Probably taking a leaf out of the book of that civil servant that got £340k for being “bullied” by a bird - W⚓️
  12. Doubtless some exorbitant cost shouldered by the tax payer and administered by civil servants with no accountability, no ability and no ‘king clue.... Close or no?
  13. You think so Mark? the “NHS” is a massive behemoth. Many parts of that massive behemoth have had absolutely no adverse impact from COVID. In fact, many departments have been like the Mary Celeste. Wouldn’t it be better to target those elements within the NHS that had played an active role rather than treat the whole thing as one? For an individual, 1% is - of course - paltry but across the entire organisation it is literally BILLIONS. (I know, billions have already been spaffed up the wall but that’s no reason to just carry on doing it)
  14. Not worth the bandwidth! Couple get married and fall out with in-laws. Welcome to planet earth.
  15. It sounds like you might be dealing with an area TPO relating to an earlier development application and trying to apply historic restrictions in a changed land use / boundary scenario? Just guessing that’s what it sounds like. Maybe consider seeking a fresh look at the site with current TO to see if it would be possible to get the historic ATPO revised to better reflect current tree status in an updated series of individual tree TPOs. That’d be the Rolls Royce solution rather than trying to second guess what’s gone before. Whether you’d get any joy from LA in achieving this is a whole nuther story.....
  16. Within the very same article ‘they’ say “far right” and “direct democracy.” Makes you wonder, which is it then? Or are they both possible at the same time?
  17. I did 4 solid days last week mush! I'm pooped 🙀
  18. 👍🏻 Always do Les - condiments, napkins
  19. Whilst acknowledging the concept, I’d suggest it is not entirely devoid of potential adverse consequence. From my own (consistently poor) experience of trades brought in to work at home I offer one notable example which has always stayed with me. Having relaid the floor and skirting, and stated that the skirts should be stained and waxed to match the floor, the chippy was adamant that they’d look better painted. I didn’t want that, I didn’t agree and couldn’t fathom why he was so enthusiastic about it. I didn’t want them painted and said stained and waxed it is. It was only after pondering his determination to try and change my mind that I realised stained and painted made his job so much easier because he could fill and sand joints rather than cut them properly. Moral of the story - someone giving you advice is not always with your best interest at heart but rather it may be driven by what actually makes their job easier. I recognise the very same trait in myself on occasion and have a better understanding of it now. Also, I don’t think anybody actually takes any notice when someone says how busy they are. Ask any trade how busy they are and they always say “flat out” as they would be doing you a favour by turning up.
  20. I suspect residual trace of recreational narcotics...
  21. That’s possibly one of the most peculiar metaphors imaginable. “main trunk” and “peeling off in large sheets” are not terms Id normally associate with a passionate experience with a beautiful woman..... That’s not to suggest that big Mary from Camborne isn’t beautiful in the eyes of some beholders... Oh - forgot the point of the post - forget chemicals, just pull more off than grows each year. (equally applicable to Ivy and Mary)
  22. Hate it when they’ve “changed the plan” between agreeing it and start of work AND they haven’t communicated changes. I like to get my ‘head’ (and the right kit) prepped and ready for the day ahead. Some small changes of direction are par for the course but wholescale changes affecting work scheme, equipment, timescales etc really annoy!
  23. No more than car park change from a score for chip supper in Looe last night (that’s me treating the Mrs & bin lid to a posh meal out 😂) PS - I make her take bread and butter, tomato ketchup & mayonnaise from home though)
