  1. That’s not how AF are spinning it Mark. See how far you can get through the attached article without laughing...... What actually Happened in Bristol – and How a Narrative is Built AFED.ORG.UK
  2. Open (active) or closed (no new burials) cemetery Jay? Looks to be a closed cemetery. Some interesting additional considerations apply to cemetery trees and the status of the cemetery (open or closed.) Was it a LA contracted job?
  3. This probably expresses it more fully: Bristol rioters were 'serial demo attenders' from outside city intent on violence, mayor says APPLE.NEWS The rioters who set police vehicles alight and attacked officers were "serial demo attenders" intent on violence against...
  4. Impressive array of hardware on display there lux! Laying on the chipper infeed though, didn’t dwell on that pic for long 😳
  5. Events unfolding in Brzzol Mark, that’s kind of the point I was trying to put across earlier. Scenes like wasson in Brizzol are not going garner support for opposition to the proposed legislative changes. We may well be moving inexorably closer to the point where civil unrest takes a firmer and wider grip. There are enough recent examples of the domino effect when this sort of behaviour features on the news. Having read the article JD posted earlier I’d be surprised if Brum doesn’t go off soon.
  6. In a “closed” community, particularly in a confined area, how could ‘other parties’ not be at least aware - probably complicit. Hopefully there’ll be sufficient appetite for a case of secondary liability for at least the nearest neighbours perhaps the entire ‘settlement.’ Certainly doesn’t help disavow the stereotype. 7. Well, yes. HS2, Sheffield street trees, Newbury bypass, Greenham Common, Faslane ‘peace’ camp.... Trouble is, if it is a lawful activity it is lawful because our government and laws have made it so. Whatever the passion of the protest cause - and the apathy of the masses - ‘protest’, when it becomes obstruction, is unlawful. On a very small scale, I’ve had exactly that kind of (attempted) obstruction on a site clearance. It was all perfectly kosher but a neighbour objected and got in the way. Funnily enough he delighted in telling me he used to be a magistrate. I delighted even more in telling him if he didn’t foxtrot oscar I’d have absolutely no hesitation in removing him from the private property work site (for his own safety) and inviting the Rozzers to attend and re-brief him 😂
  8. You know I’m no fan of centrally imposed government Mark. The prospective new measures are (or should be) a cause for alarm to (what I think is) the vast majority of those with any inclination towards lawful protest. The trouble is, things evolve and those with a mind to push the boundaries of lawfulness will do just that. Take XR MO for example. At the point where one person’s right to lawful protest prevents another person from going about their lawful business we find ourselves with a situation where those that seek to exercise their rights impinge upon the rights of others - you see the dichotomy I’m sure. We’re probably closer to being on the same page than might immediately be apparent 👍🏻
  9. Rumour has it the town and parish stocks are being readied for any "strangers" that might start sneaking in before lock down is eased...
  10. OK I'll take the bait.... I know you're not that obtuse. There are those - ranging from aunt Molly to Sid the Nazi that have (currently) an absolute right to protest regardless of how engaged / sympathetic, or otherwise, the 'rest of us' might be with their cause. That is just a matter of the reality we live in. There is also a quantifiable mass of anti establishment / anarchist / new hippy / dead legs that float between any public protest, regardless of the cause, with the premeditated intention of sparking, contributing to and/or amplifying lawlessness and criminality. That is the cohort I was being critical of - but you absolutely knew that already treacle... I'm (probably / almost) as concerned as you probably are with the potential for new restrictions on the right to protest but I'm not constrained by thinking it is only 'unjust' for the type of protest that I might be sympathetic too - it has to apply equally to all regardless of how personally disinterested one might be in the subject of the protest.
  11. Datestamp on that pic Mark? I take your point of course, I’m not sure you grasped mine though.... Your pic doesn’t really highlight a cohort that moves from 1 protest group to another without any apparent ‘loyalty’ to what ever the cause actually is.
  12. Not really, I’m just “tight” and the threat of losing deposit / holiday or incurring additional expense is probably the greatest influencing factor. I’d doff my cap to your reference to my world view though. If the glorious Empire still controlled great swathes of the globe maybe the rest of the world wouldn’t be in such a shambles 😂
  13. I still can’t make head nor tale of the order of the posts (can’t really be bothered to re-read it all in some sort of order) and, I found I was just skim reading the OPs lengthy and rather garbled posts.... On reflection - IF - we take all the hassles described by the OP at face value - AND - the LA has (for whatever reason) been intransigent and (as appears to be interpreted by the OP) unreasonable, then the net result will almost inevitably be loss or damage to that which has been deemed worthy of retention. That’s human nature. It’s a lose lose end game. Id like to retract my previous criticism of the OP and submit a “no comment” replacement 😂 If they feel they’ve been backed into a corner then they must do what they feel justified and live with the potential consequences.
  14. Just pulling ya chain mucker. I wouldn’t apply my previous caveat to all attendees at a protest / demo but I’m sure we’d agree, regardless of the authenticity of the protest cause - there is always “that” small element which infiltrates and exploits a scenario to further their own nefarious (usually Marxist / anarchist) cause - regardless of how just or noble the original cause. It’s them I was referring to, not the majority, well intentioned, decent but outraged aunty Marge at the Poll tax riots.
  15. That’s where it gets more complicated, it’s going to be a difficult transition back to reinstating the general rights of freedom to travel - for whatever reason.
  16. I stand by the statement Mick - especially as relates to foreign holidays. Whilst over dramatisation and poetic licence are notably favoured delivery methods, it was not a deliberate act of exaggeration in this case. I genuinely believe you’d be gambling against losing your booking to cancellation, having additional quarantine or travel restrictions imposed dependant upon emergent circumstances AND playing fast and loose with the potential of prolonging the global impact
  17. Any foreign holiday this year is a reckless gamble. I don’t generally like holidays, I just spend my time fretting about work or stuff I should / could be doing at home. That said, I’d give a test-tickle for a week on a sun bed drinking cold beer and eating calamari right now. Maybe next year...
  18. Uck off you Marxist unt!
  19. There’s a lot of assumptions there mate. I can hardly make any sense of the thread the way it’s all jumbled up in order of what has been said. Im no fan of misplaced LA inappropriate application of TPOs (or lazy ‘public amenity’ catch-all refusals of work schedules) but that’s not to say I’ve seen anything here that makes any sense so far - apart from those comments that say careful how you (OP) carry on.
  20. That clears that up then. He’s obviously a knuckle dragger.
  21. Has the original post been drastically edited such that a load of info has been removed? There seems to be a million more times the info / assumption / opinion in the various answers than can possibly be derived from what I can see as the OP? (but from what can be read, This looks like a wind-up or the behaviour / actions of a Neanderthal)
  22. Xact same as happened ere in Cornwall back aways. Standing by for the Summer madness which is just around the corner and likely to be worse than normal this year. All the prices seem to have skyrocketed in anticipation.
  23. Out on site visits, scoping potential jobs and a tree inspection which took me within the vicinity of this majestic specimen - The Darley Oak. Good to see plenty of vigour in the early bud formation. Reckoned to be over a 1000 years old. Kind of puts a human life into perspective. http://www.ancienttreeforum.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Darley-oak-for-Pro-Arb-Feb-2016.pdf
  24. Career anarchists, rabble rousers and ne’er-do-wells. Anything other than getting a ‘king job. They’ll just move on to the next “cause” - anything anti imperialism / capitalism / white privilege seems to be de rigueur...
  25. Wardrobes on “special” Editor sense of humour or just not entirely focussed?
