  1. Interesting to revise the origins of the shark - which I had forgotten.... Headington Shark - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  2. Oxford house with shark sculpture on roof made heritage site despite owner’s objection | Sculpture | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM City council designates 7.6 metre installation by artist Bill Heine a protected landmark
  3. Having looked a wee bit closer at this, in his own words he inherited the country pile where there is a pheasant shoot at near £2k per gun and a "sporting club" which was incorporated as MORVAL ESTATE CLUB LIMITED Company number 13370014 30 Apr 21, he is a parish councillor who passes judgement on the planning applications of others (but doesn't think they apply to himself) and there is no record available at Cornwall Council webpage of the legally required declaration of councillor interests which is required to be lodged with the Monitoring officer for Cornwall Council within 28 days of becoming a Cllr and should be publicly available to view. Having said that, it seems there are some fairly deep rooted and significant administrative issues associated with the broader parish council management looking at their latest annual governance return. We're not talking about a poor man with simple needs here, we are talking about landed gentry bending the common man up like a pretzel and going in without lube. I particularly liked the shark roof scenario and was a frequent visitor to that street which was only minutes away from my Grandfather's house. I seem to remember that after all the grief that man received from the LPA he decided to put a tank in the front garden as a final FU. Good man! I'm right up there on the line with anyone taking a stand against the tyranny and oppression of 'the man' but this is not that my friend.... Here is the HE listing of the house, its not like he's struggling for a spot to lay his head is it... MORVAL HOUSE, Morval - 1311992 | Historic England HISTORICENGLAND.ORG.UK List entry 1311992. Grade I Listed Building: Morval House. May include summary, reasons for designation and history.
  4. It ought’ to be an open / closed case. Couldn’t be simpler. Anything other than an absolute refusal and requirement to remove would set a precedent that would see every swinging dick with a parcel of woodland building a log cabin and setting up a Robin Hood lifestyle. Might be tolerable for the travelling fraternity but anyone else is required to abide by the rules.
  5. Certainly not by turning a blind eye to self entitled cnuts sitting in judgement of others’ hopes and dreams whilst considering themselves above the rules. Did you miss the point that he is a parish Cllr himself? Surely this blatant class based arrogance and disregard for simple process offends you J?
  6. And on a more ‘local’ theme, did you ever meet this bloke in yr light touch forestry role @Big J, his approach to planning law might appeal? What troubles me though is that he may sit in judgement of others planning applications as a parish councillor, but thought he himself was somehow ‘above’ it… A strangely sympathetic article which only just about manages to mention the fundamental details that a parish councillor ignored the requirement to submit a planning application / abide by building regs for a business (air B&B) new build in ancient woodland. Rather than focus upon the fundamental failure to abide by the very rules & regs he applies when he sits in judgement of other peoples’ dreams and aspirations (planning applications) when his PC comments on the applications of others, he chose to ignore that requirement in pursuit of his own financial gain. OK, so he was unwell. I understand and empathise with that more than most having been through similar myself recently but at no point would I ever have thought to completely ignore the most basic planning requirements on the basis of being unwell. This is WRONG on so many levels. He should be required to remove the structure (legally achievable) and resign as a parish councillor (not legally achievable.) This behaviour shames all parish councillors since it reenforces through very tangible example - one rule for us another for them The planning application is open to view on Cornwall councils planning page and currently displays what appears to be his Facebook friends list of gushing comments of support with only 1 or 2 comments in opposition and noting the fundamental failure of character, integrity and professionalism of a parish councillor. What a disgrace. It has made national media but here is a local media link: https://www.cornish-times.co.uk/news/father-with-cancer-builds-dream-project-without-permission-569779
  7. Bloody hell…. Milliband talking a lot of sense about COP and green energy on Kuensburg, genuinely talking really credible and compelling sense…. Then he slips right back into ops normal old Labour BS about ‘reparations’ and foreign aid. It was genuinely taking me by surprise, passion, logic, compelling good sense, then BOOM, all down the toilet again.
  8. She’s certainly not elected for her razor wit, charm and planetary intellect….. Cant imagine what the appeal must be then…. I rather suspect Sir Kneel Calmer has a similar struggle reconciling her presence too…
  9. if ever there needed to be an in your face example of the adverse implications of multiculturalism, Dianne Abbot is as close to the epitome of what can and will happen as could ever be anticipated. Cause and effect. Hackney North & Stoke Newington 36% white British population. Only in a constituency such as Hackney North & Stoke Newington could such a vile and racist fat head as DA be consistently elected…. Case closed.
  10. What labour shortage? No such thing. There are already more people than jobs. Square pegs need to be banged into round holes. Just adding more people is no way to solve the problem, imore people is the exact opposite of what is needed.
  11. The point you may not have grasped though J, or chosen to ‘overlook’ is that there’s a large proportion of SWUK residents that WANT it just the way it is.
  12. Just post a link to the planning application at the LA webpage so that people can see the detail of the application and the consultee comments (which are already in the public domain) and that will allow for a more informed and detailed response....
  13. Benign neglect - I loves it 😂 I is gonna use that phrase in a report I have to write next week....
  14. Moonbat? I'm on it like a tramp on warm chips! I'll lead an R&D trial to see if my efficiency increases if I only work 3 days a week rather than 4. HMRC rebate kerching! Thank you very muchley Hector where's my free money....

  16. Interesting question - maybe (almost certainly) not directly, but there must be (at least a degree of sub conscious assessment) in the process of considering whether the application work spec is reasonable under all of the circumstances. It might be that the assessment immediately concludes that the presented case is unjustifiable and therefore rejected, there certainly wouldn't be a requirement (although there could be an offer) to propose something that could be closer to acceptable.
  17. Cornwall is full of these jokers with their so-called niche start ups funded from excess property sales profit and a re-location to Rock or Padstein with their rabbit bumble and Logan berry infused gin at £65/bottle and their 'speciality' honey from endangered mountain bees which have been 're-homed' (which is more likely supermarket mass produced then re bottled) and sold at a eye watering profit to other chinless wonders that have more money than sense, clogging up the country lanes in their massively over priced VW T5 with their little darlings Jemima and Tarquin... Cnuts all of them! My mate had a right laugh at a Cothele House Christmas jamboree a couple of years back. We'd been smashing down Mont pines nearby and he spent ½ hour hoovering up over sized pine cone in chicken feed bags. Filled his transit with them. We all took the piss but he had the last laugh selling them at a pound a piece as "Victorian Christmas decorations" or £5 a small bag as "traditional firelighters." He cleared up that day - sold the lot, could have sold it all twice, three times over!
  18. Condition of the tree aside for a minute (since it cannot be adequately determined from the available information) Mick hits the spot with the inferred question - what do you want to happen with the tree? If you want to remove it you will have no problem finding someone to convince you it is imperative. It might take a bit more effort to find somebody that can provide credible options for retention - but there are always options, depending, predominantly, on what your starting point is. As a bit of an aside, but potentially verified by the rather basic suite of qual’s, outfits that are willing to pay a subscription to a 3rd party (checkatrade in this case) for work leads are either desperate for work, don’t have an established reputation / customer base or possibly scratching around for anything that is available. Just my take on it and there might be some decent outfits on such promotion / advertising platforms but I’ve always held that to do so is a sign of an outfit which maybe cannot stand on its own established reputation. Since it needs a planning application you might hope that a LA tree officer would examine the work spec / justification and provide an objective assessment - but (depending on location) even that is variable….
  19. The maths is all well and good but if it’s a teleporter it might be like the tardis and open up to infinity on the inside. you could end up filling it with all your hard earned loggage and never get a full load. A bit like the overflowing porridge pot fable.
  20. Not sure if true orno, just copying from a FB post….pic 1 Pic 2 - at leat it would be funny….
  21. You misheard it…. Ive entered correct text above….
  22. Generally agree - but very much share Mick’s Go quick go home mantra. A healthy dose of ‘not too bothered’ combined with the ability to switch between operations and consultancy works (useful for rainy days anyway) I am genuinely hoping things do quieten down. I desperately want a bloody good holiday after all the covid nonsense and travel disruption. Keep your overheads low and there’s nothing to worry about.
  23. Maybe, new start ups over burdened with debt repayment on capital investment, spiralling interest rates and the impact of inflationary rises to input costs coupled with potential recessionary pressures upon household disposable income - yes, for the reckless consumer of very cheap credit there may be either very hard work and competitive pricing to meet repayments or a one way ticket to the auction….
