  1. Way to make us all feel so small.....
  2. I love it! Hadn't seen this thread previously.
  3. I like that, a lot! Going to have to have me one of those! Is that an SF face blanking in first pic?
  4. Just had a read of the blog for your wood oven. Would you be happy to share detail of supplier / price range and how you came to decide to buy rather than make??
  5. It's a factory optional extra!
  6. Interesting... A bit boring, but I wonder if CE / BS kite certificates are included, and what the translation of the manual is like? Maybe I'm a bit too reserved but can't help feeling a bit nervous buying less 'established' brands.
  7. Good stuff! Just had a look at your webpage, looks fantastic, will have to have a proper read through later.
  8. It's a promo video so well choreographed within machine & operator capability but it's unlikely any manufacturer is going to make a "fails" video of the kit they want to sell I guess.
  9. That sounds like a reasonable, and probably legal, compromise.
  10. That's interesting! Linked to LEADER by any chance? Similar 'grant funded' demo in Cornwall recently. It was alright but not that special. I wonder if it would even have happened if it hadn't been grant funded. Maybe that's where all the money that should be going into increasing productivity / efficiency is going? Giving shiny ass office wallas a reason to go into the office each day???
  11. You're dealing in hypothetical situations though. Let's say it's (old speak) CS 40/41, or PTI for example. Both reasonably advanced tickets for employees. What would they cost? £600ish even if it was £1000, + travel and subsistence at another £1000 for a week. You're not going to convince anyone that 2k training cost is enough to make 1 employee redundant so as to take on another one. I just can't see it.
  12. Not rough or uneven, but I buried mine up to it's belly a couple of weeks back.... I'd walked the ground first but, in my keenness to crack on, cut a corner and down she went.... That was a PITA! Pic is AFTER I'd made an effort to fill in the ruts...
  13. And the level of 'correctness' if it all goes pear shaped, is decided in the employment tribunal not on a discussion forum. Perhaps 6/7 out of 10 times it might not get that far, but for the other 3 or 4 times that it might, I'd be more confident if I'd followed Felix's advice....
  14. I've still got a (slowly) trundling on scenario with those Tuesdays... Can't remember which thread it was where we exchanged views previously on HMRC ineptitude? I took them to tribunal after realising they are thicker than a whale omelette. That was last September, had about 60% success there in PROVING and having a judge declare that they are wrong. Unfortunately, the judge then made a ruling that was blatantly and obviously flawed - I'm no expert but it was plain enough to see - it's now referred to higher tribunal. There's going to be one hell of a restitution claim when this all gets to a conclusion. I've recorded every error, omission, misrepresentation and BS assertion HMRC have made. There are a couple of 'direct action' examples I can recall - the farmer that took the muck spreader to the town hall, and a bit more sinister, the bloke in Oxford/Berkshire area that drove his pick-up full of gas bottles into the council office.... Lucky for them the HMRC office I'm obliged to deal with is in Newcastle. (a) I rarely venture North of the Tamar and (b) I think I'd need a passport to go that far North. Otherwise there'd likely be blood on the streets!
  15. I don't know enough about her, but him, beyond contempt! Should we have a "Most inept Civil servant" thread? I'd nominate Dame Disaster as my candidate! Lin Homer, Dame Disaster, puts in a classic display before MPs | Business | The Guardian
  16. Be interesting to see how it compares price / attachment availability with the blue & the green.
  17. Pleasure Adam! Let me know if you have a chance to look at the video!
  18. (1) Wouldn't you consider the architect as the project coordinator? If not him then who... The home owner? This particular scenario is a small (single new build) domestic project rather than a large or complex set-up. My usual course of events is, architect gets an enquiry from his prospective client, if trees present he asks for AIA (hopefully) before he offers design options (5837 fig 1) (2) Yes, I'd say so, although topo shows some elements that wouldn't normally be included in AIA (sub 75mm diameter trees) (3) That's what I would have thought. (4) Is it safe to assume that, or could it equally be assumed that the PO missed the requirement for AIA? (5) It might be that they don't need to be, but, due to some shocking previous 'tree surgery' they aren't 'keepers' in the long term. I did try and upload some pics earlier but had an error message. (6) Separate to this particular issue, a general question, if you have a building project approved and it's started, say the footings are laid, am I right in thinking you have an indefinite period to complete the work before planning expires? If that is true, and say, 5-10 years after starting a project where a tree has been identified for retention, the tree declines significantly. If it weren't for the planning application / approval, and assuming there were no other constraints such as TPO / CA, the landowner would be at liberty to reduce / fell the tree. How would they stand if the same tree were included within the conditions of a planning approval? Would they equally be at liberty to reduce / fell? Thanks for the feedback! I think I'm going to have a chat with TO next week to get his perspective.
  19. 10/10 for soundtrack! I couldn't work which was max lift and machine weight though. Looks a bit chunky for general portability.
  20. Here's a tricky situation. My mate the architect is almost getting the order of events right and it came as a disappointment to find he had made things a bit awkward on one recent project. He didn't initiate an AIA prior to drawing up and submitting plans, the topo showed trees in, and adjacent to the project footprint, plans were submitted and approved (with conditions - one of which was the production of an AMS for trees.) Had there been an AIA it's possible that the likely outcome would have been categorisation U or C for the trees in question. So now the architect needs an AMS to discharge the condition but there is no formal approval of tree categorisation from which to decide which trees might be retained / protected and those which might not. The architect has got it in the wrong order, the LA have approved the proposed plans where they should probably have been abated until inclusion of AIA. So to pick up the pieces, I'm thinking, talk to the TO (who will not have had an opportunity to consult on categorisation) and see if, under the circumstances, he would agree with categorisation or propose something else. Any words of wisdom or previous experiences of this kind of thing??
  21. Red truck (last pic) looks interesting. Road legal?
  22. Adam, here are a couple of links that loosely compare the 2 but it's not an exact like-for-like: http://avantloader.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/avant-400-700-series-brochure1.pdf http://www.multione.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/7.3S_datasheet_en.pdf Tried uploading a few pics but it's not working at the moment.
  23. I would agree (technically) but kind of sympathise with the dilemma (personally.) If the employer arranges, sends staff and pays for training, then they are on 'work time' for the duration and there would be EL insurance implications for all of the training, travel to / from and time whilst accommodated away. Any work related accident incurred during travel, training or accommodation would provide the statutory rights of sick pay, potential compensation etc etc. I don't think it would be appropriate to ask them to take holiday because of the potential insurance implications - if you're on work time, you're on work time. Either the employer takes the financial responsibility in the whole - or - the employee / individual takes it and then proposes a pay rise to reflect new skills / greater productivity. I suspect I may be on the OP's 'ignore list' since my input to a previous thread didn't appear to go down very well... If that is the case, no worries, if it isn't, it's just my thoughts as a contribution to the thread.
  24. If you were selling 2.5, if you were buying 2, and somewhere in between is going to get it done depending on how much they want/need to sell and how much you want/need to buy. Looks tidy, maybe try and trim the price for the cost of a brake and cables service & a new battery? Have a caution not to get mugged off if they try and switch the working battery with a dud if you buy it though - just happened to a mate's brother in law. He bought a caravan (serves him right) and found they'd switched battery from when he viewed it.
