  1. Thankfully, it seems to have calmed down a bit on the civil unrest front Mull (despite the apparent best efforts of the career protesters and table rousers of the SWP.) I'm not a fully paid up supporter of the May regime, although I am very much more at ease than I would be given the alternative. Inability to do or say the right thing....? It's an interesting question. What would you say was the right thing? So she didn't go have a look. So what? To do so would inevitably have distracted authorities that were doing their best (LFB, HSE, Police etc) from more important work. The last thing anyone needs is a string of VIP visits distracting time and resources. It's a tragic incident but not a matter of national emergency that should distract central government from it's core business. This is local government business - the council, the mayor. So far as I can see (incidentally, both the CEO of the council and the Mayor of London are on considerably higher salaries than the PM and neither has done a 'king thing worth a tupenny toss.) What should the PM be doing about it? Nothing more or less than she has done in my estimation. It may well be the case that whatever the PM does (or doesn't do) is going to result in a media shite fest and that she may, inevitably, be ousted by the power of the media if things continue like this. Laura Kuenssberg was nothing short of ignorant and rude with her incessant interruptions in the interview I saw. I think there will be a long and sordid paper trail leading to some very questionable decisions as this unravels.
  2. You can all Foxtrot Oscar! High horse appropriately tethered Mick, it's just the corporate sponsorship of peadophiles and vastly inflated management, consultant and (so called) celeb salaries to worry about now then. (Now then, Now then!) From where have you gained the impression that I'm a conformist Mark? It's not entirely accurate. ....Without a clue, Mr Speaker!
  3. If I ever doubted my TV licence money was being appropriately spent, any shred of confidence I may have had has definitely evaporated. Never bothered having a licence til the "good citizen" "law abiding" wife moved into my life and insisted upon it.... 🤔
  4. Enabling incompetence Ti..... How apt is that....! CEO of the council on a salary North of 200k. Mayor of London Sadiq Khan on a salary North of 140k. And between them, they have to write to the PM to ask for people to be re-homed. How is this not local government business? What exactly are these people drawing a salary for?? London Mayor Sadiq Khan writes stern letter to Theresa May demanding answers on Grenfell Tower TODAY - Mirror Online If I were in the PM's office I would have had all the council CEOs on the carpet answering some very blunt and direct questions about the integrity and quality of their officers' work. A genuine WTF moment!
  5. 😂😂😂😂 Politician is careful to use words which intimate, but fall just short of revealing true malevolent intent shocker.... 😂😂😂😂 Yeah, nice one 👍🏻, I'm convinced!
  6. In brief, it's easy to forget that, just like all the other government departments that seem unable to cope with doing their own business, the armed forces have also been subject to similar reductions and efficiencies yet still have preparation for, deployment to and recovery from operations, training and regeneration to manage. Which ever department is drawing down funding to do their job (however poorly) are STILL drawing down that funding despite apparently being so inept as to require the armed forces to bail them out. There is a time and a place for MACC, relying upon it as an ever increasing everyday occurrence is probably not the best idea.
  7. Making the news TOMORROW: Serious civil unrest, rioting and disorder follow Grenfell Tower fire. Lack of coordination and control at aid stations, frustration and anger fuelled by grief, wanting to "blame" someone for lost family and friends, all topped off with a big dollop of Corbyn sponsored suggestion of asset stripping "the rich." http://uk.pressfrom.com/news/world/us-news/-172285-corbyn-suggests-using-luxury-kensington-properties-for-grenfell-tower-families/ He knows full well that he's fanning the flames with such talk - it would have been much more rationale and effective to simple suggest "empty" properties be brought into use but he has specifically targeted "luxury" properties in true, traditional Communist revolutionary style. Rioting and disorder very much suit his agenda. That's a stark example, for me, of the true danger this man poses. Whilst not a fan of military aid to the civil authorities where it becomes necessary due to inadequacy, incompetence or greed of other departments. In this case, it may be prudent to have some military disaster relief expertise on site to take charge of the apparent chaos, and to be prepared for the transition to civil unrest. Hope I'm wrong!
  8. :confused1: Sometimes Less = More Mr Speaker! Cuts (although I prefer "efficiencies") combined with intelligent targeting of resources, engaging with technology, studying the data and risk profiles certainly can be a more effective approach than simply throwing more money and manpower at a problem.
  9. The benefits of pollen and fungi in forensic crime detection on Crimewatch! Interesting little piece (despite the 2 speakers being a little 'odd') If only the rozzers would actually attend a crime scene!
  10. Maybe try Exac-1? If it's a useful tool they might be interested in stocking (if you get one, keep us posted, maybe interested myself!!)
  11. Or ☘️(there isn't a botanically correct picture, but you know what I mean!!) Maybe that's why the dancing dudes were there?? 🕺
  12. Should be entitled to protect his own property. Poor show by the Rozzers. Struggling to understand how a "poor tenant farmer" could loose "10's of thousands of pounds" for an acre of hay though.... 😳
  13. I'd agree, most of the obstructions mentioned are well established, perennial constraints. Factor delays into the pricing schedule / T&Cs. Or just do what Ag contractors are doing up and down the land this week. Just ignore environmental considerations and crack on with no regard for the wildlife. Spinning up should start in the middle and work outwards so the critters can escape rather than being corralled into the centre but that might take a fraction of extra time so doesn't even feature in the thought process.
  14. Sorry guys, just to clarify... I didn't mean to infer it might have been unsafe or inadequate and I agree, when the job needs doing, find a way to do it. All I meant was that I'm not sure I would have shared the pic of the temp work around perhaps for fear of encouraging others to take a similar course of action. 👍🏻
  15. What if's, as ever! What if, the cutter had informed the owner of the potential for increased hazard and the owner failed to act prior to a failure causing harm/injury. Which negligence trumps the other?? (I know, impossible to answer other than by a court judgement of a set of actual circumstances and an assessment of degrees of reasonableness!!)
  16. Was the stress still on the bridge rather than the back-up tape strop during the remainder of the day? Did it get noticeably worse? Pretty brave call posting the pic of the back-up system. Job needs doing and no doubt it's safe but publishing it is another issue maybe (i'd likely have done the same but maybe thought twice about telling anyone.) If the bridge had snapped-out and it went to the tape sling, that tiny little ½ inch movement would have given you some adrenaline hit!!
  17. Jeremy Corbyn last seen being escorted from the vicinity of 10 Downing Street...
  18. No excessive or unusual movements or stresses during the morning? Checked pre-start etc?? That's pretty scary!
  19. You consider it to be a waste of taxpayers' money? I can relate to that. So to do it all again would be a double waste no?? Who is it that wants to do it all again "as soon as may be?" Corbyn throws down gauntlet to May saying Labour is ready for new election - and predicting it will be soon | The Independent
  20. The jokes just keep rolling in.... At the very least, between them, they are providing the nation with smiles....
  21. Alas-tair Campbell, quoting a German MP.... Could that be any less relevant...?
