Where did you find that? It's AWESOME and stands very well with the debate I initiated at a Parish council meeting recently. My presentation was that, just in time for the late Summer / early Autumn flash downpours (combined with poor land management and soil erosion as a consequence of intensive and irresponsible agricultural practices) , we will expect, the same as every year, to see the LA and agricultural contractors out on the roads flailing and casting all their shite all over the carriageway to cause a hazard and block the surface water drains leading to flooding and the associated road hazards. Having been down this exact path with the highways department last year - and found them desperately lacking in intelligence and responsibility - I thought I'd pass it in via the County councillor this year. He was no better, worse in many respects. At least highways came back with a (at face value) reasoned response something along the lines of "..we risk assess that the potential harm from debris on rural roads and the potential to block surface drains is acceptable..." Although that kind of fell apart when I highlighted that the specific section of road I was using as an example was in flood risk zone 3 and that frequent road flooding occurred and that serious RTAs had also occurred as a result of the flooding. That kind of blew a hole into the "...we risk assess..." argument especially as the Jonny I was in contact with admitted that their so-called risk assessment did not take account of flood risk mapping. Anyway, the County councillor's response was priceless - "...I've had a look at my neighbours hedges and decided it would be unreasonable for him to have to clear up all the mess he made after flail cutting..." So that's it as far as I'm concerned, cut a hedge by the road side, fell a tree by the road side, construction sites that track mud or debris onto the highway.... Don't worry about it, just leave it all where it lays. If its OK for the farmers it must be OK for everyone else no? But, as far a Parish / District councils talking utter BS, that part I have to whole heartedly agree!

You don’t have to tell ‘em if it just for personal record, you do if you intend to release to a 3rd party. On the basis that there’d be no point having the audio in the case of a dispute if you couldn’t release it to the Beak, I’m going with the tell ‘em approach. Privacy policy updated at website, acceptance of quote is acceptance of T&Cs so its as simple as that. Hopefully never have to use it but it’s there in case.

Following a recent unfortunate tale about a fellow arb getting screwed over by a long standing / trusted client engaging his services to take down a neighbour’s tree on the understanding that the neighbour had agreed to pay, only to find that the neighbour won’t pay, it got me thinking. (The circumstances are the circumstances – no need to comment on that – it was a long standing and trusted client!) I know I "think" I'm quite a good judge of character and haven't been done over like this yet, and that probably 90%+ of tasks are after a written quote / acceptance, but there's always a first time and (along with some other unrelated circumstances which would benefit from a usable record) it got me to thinking about the usefulness of recording conversations / phone calls. The “…whilst you’re here…” sort of additions for example. I have been looking at kit that suits this purpose for a while and there is a vast range of quality / price point on the market. I settled on the RecorderGear PR200 Bluetooth Cell Phone Call Recording Device because it has the function of a (reasonably) covert room voice recorder AND a phone call recorder and it was cheap enough not to matter if it was shite. (for OP, ignore the next question, it's just a technical point which IOTR might have a view on but it's probably so insignificant an issue as to not make any difference to anything in the real world!) Supplementary question for IOTR.... Where personal credit card purchases result in 'other' rewards such as air miles, cash back etc, I'm guessing where these relate to business transactions on the personal credit card that they should be recorded as BIK...? I know, some things are better just not asked ?

Historically, they have been quite tricky to do (apparently) so always had sweep in to do it. We met him when we moved here about 10 years ago, he’s a cracking bloke, been friends ever since and it’s always nice to see him. It’s one of those jobs I guess, could do it meself but time / cost / social element means it’s easier to ask Mark to come round. I’ve had all the chimneys lined since so it’s probably easier now and something I should get around to doing myself. On balance though, he’s got all the gear, got the knowledge and experience, it’s quick, clean and usually quite sociable if he’s not flat out for the next job.

I know it’s bad admin leaving it so late but it kind of helps with the justification for not lighting up.... Bumped into the Sweep recently, booked for Oct 10th. Told the boss, no fires before sweeps been - seems to be working so far!

Lets have a little consensus of opinion.... For arguments sake, lets say you're a Russian national with a couple of days to spare, a wad of cash to blow and the option of a return plane ticket to LHR... Where would you go as first choice and where in the ranking of all UK city break options would you place Salisbury? For my money, I'd likely hit Covent Garden and China Town pretty hard on the Friday, catch a big fry up Saturday morning and mooch over to Richmond / Twickenham to catch a Quins game, then see where the night takes it. Round it all off with a session at the Church on Sunday afternoon then catch the red eye express back to Moscow with a raging hangover. Salisbury.... not even with the world famous clock, wouldn't feature anywhere in that agenda.

Worth looking at MultiOne - may well be beyond anticipated budget (but to be fair, 5k is probably a bit light for a decent unit of any description unless you’re a spanner ? expert) The range of tasks you could do with a MultiOne might well pay dividends in the long term. Just an idea....
