  1. The balloon thing..... Pretty poor form, not very ‘British’ old boy (kind of funny nonetheless!) So, the precedent is now set, let the ‘freedoms’ flow I say. Should be some fun times ahead. I’m just somewhat bewildered that such moral outrage is generated (and no doubt genuinely felt in certain quarters) against the President of the USA rather than directing all that obvious passion and energy into causes (countries) that have so much more to be ‘fixed.’ But, like fox hunting really, there are far greater issues within animal welfare that deserve attention - and would reap much greater benefits - but the majority of the protest effort is directed entirely in a ‘less wrong’ direction than where it is most needed. The common predominant factor in both examples is a sort of ‘class’ protest which undermines both causes (IMHO)
  2. What did it say......???????
  3. It’s the quality of the material that’s available to work with at the moment Ti ? Of course (at least in part) tongue in cheek (not sure that’s appropriate after Vesp’s vid link) and in part overly simplistic, but entirely expected that some indignant outrage would ensue and similarly entirely expected that some members would ‘read between the lines’ and see that, from the sarcasm, comes some absolute sense. The exquisite irony being the mock outrage which emirates from those most likely to claim the absolute right to free speech (so long as it doesn’t poke fun, challenge or reject their predetermined view of the world) - strangely, not entirely dissimilar to Islam....
  4. I’m offended by your assumption of my lack of stupidity..... ?
  5. A - it was a Saturday! B - had it been a work day, it would have been at MY expense not anyone else’s. C - I was hoping you’d fall for the click-bait ?. Can you imagine the scene though? Jack-booted JRM robots marshalling the great unwashed into ‘re-education’ pens.... A sight for sore eyes!! ???
  6. Whilst recognising, and with the greatest of respect for the right to protest, can’t help thinking it’s a shame they didn’t round up all those protestors and survey how many of the anti-establishment, anarchist, hippy, wasters were simultaneously funding their existence off the back of the giro in turn funded by the tax payer - what with it being a workday an that..... Imagine the boost to national productivity (and reduction in social ‘security’ bill) if all those that ‘could’ be working actually were working instead of clogging up the streets having a party. It’s almost as if a solution to so many problems presented itself all in one place, all at the same time! There was the unskilled manual labour that we are ‘supposedly’ reliant upon immigration for... There was the myth that we are reliant upon immigrant labour debunked, there was the solution to exponential population growth placing additional demand upon services and infrastructure.... 10’s of 1000’s of fit and able bodies to be put to work! If only there had been a squad of Boris / JRM / Trump robots with cattle prods shepherding them through a registration and induction process, they could all have been in the fields and factories of this green and pleasant land putting their shoulder to the wheel instead of whining like cry babies....
  7. Mole Valley Farmers & BASC from memory, may be others... MVF member card is an Aryton (I think you have to have had it for a month or so prior to vehicle purchase). Easiest £5k discount you’ll ever see!! (Well, that and VAT reg and AIA!) It’ll put a smile on your face every (s)mile of you driving!!
  8. They’ll all end up with smaller engines (or none at all the way things are going) before much longer. The tech detail is out there for those that have a mind to read / believe it but the “sales” pitch for the mk8 is that it has more power / grunt in a smaller lump than previous models. *take that as you wish, some may argue more technically / knowledgably to the contrary, I don’t have the will to read it myself. I’m content in the knowledge that Toyota have a load of boffins making machines for the workplace - who am I to argue with them ? Mine tows fine, I’m happy. Fav bit of your post was using it for family duties.... Don’t “forget” to declare the private miles ???
  9. I guess there could also be an (e) too Mark: (e) “cabinet meltdown” - to use a phrase, not so long ago that Corbyn very nearly ripped the heart and soul out of the Labour Party. Casting the memory back (not so far), I’d propose that was a significantly greater ‘crisis’ and yet he’s still there and so are the seemingly irreparable divisions within the party and the electorate... What should we learn from that?
  10. You not enjoying (finished?) that book yet ????
  11. "...this breach is not capable of remedy..." Legend!!!
  12. I've read it a couple of times now..... And I have to admit to still being a bit confused about who's private parts 'she' is and isn't allowed to grab.... ?
  13. Careful Lofty, look what happens to doubters: Deuteronomy 28:66 Your life shall hang in doubt before you. Night and day you shall be in dread and have no assurance of your life.
  14. (B) we’ll have to agree to disagree. (C) it’s quite a long and complex story starting in my late teens which I’d gladly share with you over a beer but not on here. In many traditional respects, I “should” be an enthusiastic Labour voter, that I am so ardently NOT is more a reflection of the state of the Labour Party than it is of me. They have nothing to offer me and I have a loathing of much of what current Labour stands for. (D) acknowledging that Farage has never been an MP, he has personally, and against all the establishment odds, had a more notable effect on UK politics than any recent or current individual MP (granted some may consider his contribution positive, others not so.) I stand by my Knighthood recommendation for Farage! UKIP lost its way without him at the helm, but I rather doubt anyone would argue that it was pressure from UKIP which delivered the neverendum. Perhaps a revitalised UKIP would similarly galvanise the UK ‘unrepreseted’ (and I think there are a lot within former Labour heartlands?
  15. In part, to the previous outstanding response and in part to this Mark, purely my take on it but: (a) little point wasting time / energy attempting to counter the misguided, jubilant celebration of the ardent anti Tory contributors who, appear, rather than to recognise that Current difficulties are indicative of the complexities of the situation and would similarly impact upon either of the 2 main parties, instead, choosing to make the circumstances fit a predetermined personal political persuasion whilst the opportunity exists. (b) Seriously - does anyone think Labour wouldn’t have made an even bigger hash of it? It’s almost like a mirror imagine with Corbyn as a life long anti EU (but strangely attracted to some of the socialist nationalisation concepts), the PLP broadly in favour of ditching Brexit and large swathes of the Labour voting public in favour of Brexit - not to mention a shadow cabinet of chimps, radicals and idiots. (c) whilst there is little to celebrate in the output of the government to date regarding Brexit, I for 1 am relieved that, as a small consolation, it’s not being administered by Labour. The phrase “careful what you wish for” comes to mind!! (d) Farage has stated that he will consider standing for UKIP leadership again if this farce continues. Maybe therein lies the solution - or Tory MPs jump ship to UKIP so as to galvanise the government into decisive action. Theres no point trying to counter the misguided jubilation of Tory haters whilst there is nothing tangible to counter it with, better just to let it slide and recognise that whilst not the finest hour for British politics, it would be a whole lot worse under Labour ??
  16. I’ll come back to you Mark, but not tonight, I’m having a beer and an early night ??
  17. Boris put his cards on the table. No big surprise. More honourable than Gove at this stage... It’s not those that are departing that are open to criticism, it’s those that are seeking to water down, so far as to make meaningless, the departure from EU that stand to answer for their actions. As for Corbyn thinking his crowd are capable, what a clown!
  18. JRM - the only logical solution!
  19. Are you off on a wild one there Mr ?? Anyone should be at liberty to work as many or as few days as suits them. No probs with that. Its the getting paid for not working that is difficult to swallow. If I don’t work I don’t earn. F*cked if I’m going pay someone else not to work!
  20. Enough of that chopper! I am actually working tomorrow (morning any way!) It is GENUINELY one of the funniest scenarios I’ve ever encountered!! Detail to follow....
  21. We’ll be (that’s the “royal” we (public sector)) on a 3 day week if Comrade Corbin and his merry band of lunatics ever manage to get into government!
  22. Is this “project X” mkII or something different???
  23. We must be on crossed purposes Mr ? thats me Mr standing ON the road taking a picture of the drain (clogged up with flail cuttings), the 500mm pipe through the hedge and the original stone overflow - all of which feed directly into a stream in the field behind the hedge. It’s ALREADY clogged up which causes all the road to flood - I’ll post some example pics of this very spot later.
  24. Dealership said paintwork warranty excludes under body and butt section. I’ll have to get into the small print and check
