  1. Was listening to a piece on the wireless the other day about new laws to reduce the calories in pies and pizzas etc because of obesity... Why should I have my calories reduced because some lard ass spends all day shovelling junk food down their Gregory whilst needing a JCB to heave them off the sofa 4 times a day for their piss break. I have to have MY calories reduced when I occasionally buy a pie after some particularly strenuous work and I'm stuck between meals because some idle bar steward uses them as a staple. How's that for a diverse and inclusive society - penalise the many for the sins of the few. Flying back from Summer break there was an announcement from the pilot. We won't be dishing out any nuts on this flight, and if you've got any you're not allowed to open them because 1 overly sensitive, selfish bar steward might just up and die if he so much as sees a peanut! And then there's the art gallery that thought it would be a good idea to change the word "women" to "womxn" so as to better represent the minority ethnic and gender fluid portions of that gender. What about the overwhelming majority of women that DON"T subscribe to this pathetic PC nonsense? What about their inclusivity? Maybe it's time to become a disabled, BME, gender fluid, victim of the State so as to be better represented..... What was the question again....? Weight camera for vehicles.... There'll probably need to be an exemption for diverse, minority, transient communities so as not to adversely infringe upon their individual freedoms... Bhah!
  2. Anyone seen Stubby recently? Holiday in France perhaps?? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/10/14/british-cyclist-shot-dead-hunter-french-alps/
  3. Mark, type "ProContract" into your web browser and it 'should' open a page something like the pic below. You have to register and complete a raft of forms then await your account going live if you qualify. ProContract provides the e-commerce portal for large commercial and public sector contract opportunities nationwide. Once registered you refine the regions and industry sectors that you wish to access and bid for. You set the parameters and you are notified when any suitable tendering opportunities arise within your interest set. It is targeted at the larger contracts which might be above the level you are currently aiming for but you'll soon see what its all about and if it might be of any use to you. What is particularly useful is the ability to access and review the type and form of large contract Invitation to Tender documentation and qualifying criteria which will provide the templates to allow you to get all your paperwork and admin in order. Some of the larger contracts have an eye-watering amount of admin associated with them, but once it's done, it's done and minor tweaks are all that is required going forward. Similarly, LA's are starting to establish smaller scale e-commerce portals for local contracts. That could also be a useful starting point.

  5. I probably would! I’d be a prime candidate for Momentum ?
  6. That’d be a duty trip to the Palace of Westminster of the table then...,
  7. You’re not suggesting (or believing) that there’s a rule that says “no selfies with TR” are you Mark? That would be ludicrous!
  8. Rules are fluid..... It probably would in a post Corbyn Britain, but not yet, thankfully!

  10. I'd certainly be interested in your rationale for that viewpoint. Whilst I can appreciate the reasons for ardent anti-Thatcher sentiment (most notably in those sections of the country which were (and remain) decimated by the closing down of the coal sector) I'd like to think there is something more substantial than the hatred of the individual to substantiate your premise about the Falkland conflict.
  11. And there we have it! Conclusive proof that machines are about to rule the world and I should start settling down in the expectation of my universal income! ???????
  12. It's a really tough call... As much as I dislike the man, James O'Brien progressed a line of thought about this the other day. His suggestion was that the dull witted are more likely to react intuitively because their thought processes are slower than the sharp witted who are able to process the scenario and make an appropriate judgement call more quickly. Dull witted - rush in regardless of the potential consequences Sharp witted - analyse the implications and make an informed decision (yes, he's twat) His analysis omitted certain key realities like leadership by example, responsibility, loyalty, team cohesion. By looking at what could loosely be described as a similar scenario (Tobias Ellwood / Keith Palmer), but with opposite personal actions, it's clear to see these instantaneous judgement calls are subject to exceptional personal character differences. I don't think it's necessarily fair to be critical of the bloke for his actions at that time in that place - because they were his shoes not mine. But, having been tested, in what could be considered the ultimate manner (life v loyalty) and having chosen as he did, to remain in post is not an honourable outcome.
  13. Easy for you to say..... That's a holiday destination for you! It's a world of poop for the rest of us......?
  14. ...and if that is what you're happy to insert in your training record which would be a part of the documentation that could be examined in the event of an investigation, then that's fine. Best of luck. I still look back at the maintenance & crosscutting course - the first, the entry level course - and I have no hesitation in very strongly recommending it to any chainsaw user that I have the opportunity to talk to. A couple of things that have always stuck in my mind since then: I remember the frustration and resignation that the instructors expressed when talking about people that joined that course and started with the "...I've been using chainsaws all my life..." line. Which invariably translates to "...I've self learnt or watched and copied the incredibly dangerous and inefficient way to do something which I'm too pig stubborn to change and there's nothing I can learn, or need to consider on this course, I'll just do the exam and be on my way..." Which generally resulted in a failure to achieve the qualifying criteria and has the knock-on effect of creating an ardent anti-training individual because they thought they knew better than the trainers but couldn't deliver the goods when required to do so. If that is NOT the case, and someone genuinely IS a very competent casual user having benefitted from self taught or learnt good practice then doing the course actually will be a doddle and there is still the potential to improve and / or advance and share some of your experience around the course colleagues. It's a relatively short course, it's also a minimal expense. For me, it was the first step on a journey which has come far and continues. If you choose your trainer wisely, there is very little to loose if you get to the end and find it was a waste of time / money but there is so much that can be achieved from that very first small step in the right direction.
  15. Spot on! The commercial world has outstripped Governments' ability to keep pace - always will probably, but in the last 15-20 years the pace has been olympic. Can't see it slowing down anytime soon either what with robotics and automation already making strong headway. Those that thought the concept of a universal income was bonkers may need to readjust sooner than they thought...

  17. The comments are funny! There's a chap down hereabouts called his outfit Tree-2-1... Gonna send him the link for a giggle!!
