  1. This was pretty huge. I think it's Oyster, but not sure.
  2. Haven't seen this colouration before. An Auricularia?
  3. Today's tender visit turned into a fungal foray, so can I have some help. Think I know some but!
  4. But if it was easy, everyone would be doing it:biggrin:
  5. Had iPhones for a few years now in cases. Currently using a Tech 21- Impactology case (10-15 quid) which I originally bought thinking I'd take the phone out of when I wasn't at work. Never bothered though because it isn't a bulky case. Dropped it out of the odd tree, car roof etc with no problems and when I was on the tools my phone lived in the thigh pocket all day, all weathers, everyday.
  6. Ta John:thumbup1: I got a bit tied up tonight but did have a chat with someone. An extremely difficult and involved job to tender, with a very particular method statement and loads of constraints. As well as unknowns that that could turn everything upside down,
  7. Totally genuine, get it paid:biggrin:
  8. This is one of those pointless topics. We'll keep bemoaning the fact that topping is 'bad' and then defend it cos someone else will; do it if I don't, do it worse than me, or I've bills to pay! I'm out.
  9. Interesting reading. Sods law says that when you come to fell the old pine, someone either tracks over the youngster with the chipper or mewp, or whips a saw through it 'to make some space'
  10. There was a similar pdf on UKTC last year which I meant to print off and laminate, so it's not just my opinion "here's some more information" to the potential customer. Personally, I blame the AA:001_tongue: LA's and over arb organizations. We've tossed the arguments back and forth for the last thirty years, but if the public aren't educated to topping is bad, we're on a losing battle. Educate, educate and educate again:biggrin: But at the end of the day, if we, the contractor, keep on doing it.......
  11. Hi, does anyone have a tractor with a a forwarding trailer (with driver) in the north/north west manchester area? Just tendering for a job, starting in March (I think), where one option would be to hire in. Probably would be looking at around 3-4 weeks work - in total over a couple of months. Tender documents a bit vague on scheduling and the sites over four parts. PM or post, but could really do with discussing with someone tonight or tomorrow morning:001_smile: Many thanks.
  12. "But if we don't do it, someone else will!"
  13. I normally explain this, and the cycle of repeated future costs that it's going to start. Generally works for me. Edit. And the rapid regrowth and more shade than they had before. I also explain the benefits to the contractor, coming back every few years to do it again, wonder why it's advised!
  14. Won't be when you fire that up!
  15. There's a good thread on this on UKTC from last November. I can't link from my phone, but if you search their archive or even google 'UKTC- Advice sought' it should be easy to find.
  16. I had a day out with Paul a couple of years ago. The beech we 'pulled' had Merip brackets all around the rootplate, developing ganoderma and something else which I can't remember. Access drive to the house ran adjacent and the neighbours house and parking was in the fall zone. My initial thoughts were 'fell it', but the testing showed/proved that the tree was well within 'normal' limits. It certainly revised my thinking!
  17. Crack out the airspade and resistograph? Paul Muir might be the man to talk to, those pull tests are worth considering
  18. I get planning officers hanging up on me:biggrin: One refused to deal with me for almost a year:lol: Sorry Kev, but your post has cheered me up no end - Sinking into paranoia myself, thinking that officialdom is just out to get me:biggrin:
  19. Don't let accuracy get in the way of a good story:biggrin: Seriously though, with all the acronyms, it becomes confusing as to who you need to talk to or even have been talking to - that's even after you've managed to talk after being on a call waiting system, being re-directed or told that the person you need only works monday to tuesday afternoon (but on annual l/maternity/paternity or bereavement leave)
  20. Not much more to ask than what David has. The canopy looks well furnished with little indication that the kretz is interrupting hydraulic function. What's the target area like?
  21. No rush Jules. But to expand the question I wonder if the triggering is common among basi's and asco's, annual and perennial ffb's and white/brown rotters?
  22. Beautiful!
  23. I'm taking it for cancer.
  24. Might of banned it, but it's now back as lenalidomide/revlemid. Lots of warnings with it and raised awareness about pregnancy.
