  1. Did Felix wake up grumpy? mp4.mp4
  2. Without a doubt..... Although getting an i-pad or laptop in might be a bit, shall we say uncomfortable.
  3. Been saving this just for you Felix
  4. Where did you get this info? Davids app mentions the spore colour of Ps but not Armillaria, so I wondered if there's one reference book/site that contains information on spore colour or is it a case of searching everywhere for the particular species.
  5. Nope, typing on my phone and missing words out
  6. Yeah, don’t what she missed, does she?
  7. Gretna would be better it it was a good deal, a cheap course with lots of CPD hours, good venue and I even managed to fit in Dinner with Jules (Daltontrees) i would contact Chris Simpson though, that was his first course but I’m sure he’d be willing to do more if the interest is there. I’d have no hesitation in coming back again
  8. Can you see the chicken and egg situation? There's no point in having quality people in an industry when no-one outside the industry even recognizes the importance of trees. Try standing on a site with a chartered engineer, project manager, geologist etc, you're still the 'tree man' Where's no arboriculturist high in the department of the environment. So where should the industry, or the AA, be directing their energies, for the people doing the job, or to raise the industries standing so that the people doing the job are recognised as professionals and viewed by others as professionals.
  9. Put her back through the manual handling course then. She's forgotten the basic tenets of lifting
  10. And you didn't help her...... Shame on you. You could have at least of jumped out and told her to lift with her knees, not her back
  11. Don't care who tells me it's not protected, conveyancing solicitor, architect, building contractor or whoever -every enquiry gets searched. Initially some planning departments will demand to know what tree, what do you want to do etc. Politely decline the enquiry, they don't need to know to provide the information requested.
  12. Conservation areas come to mind, you buy a property and then the LA either creates one or extend an existing one. Happened to me recently, in that last year a client could do what he wanted with his trees one day, the next they were in a CA so he couldn't.
  13. I do believe that the AA have had complaints about contractors simply contacting the local planning office to check for TPOs.
  14. Full of southerners well, me from Manchester, a Planner from Hackney, London & a fellow from Durham. Sorry for for taking places from locals but it was worth going to. I think Chris who ran it would do it again if there was interest, we discussed other subjects for training events. Pm me if you'd like his email
  15. Shame you missed out on it. But generally I'd agree with the sentiments of this thread. Scotland and the north do seem to get the rough end of the stick (similar topics currently going on on the UKTC forum) looking at the AAs email today. At next years CPD events, there's nothing I'd like to attend at Myerscough or further north
  16. There was a good one in StIrling run by the Scottish Branch, I believe, in September.
  17. The whole debacle is largely due to SCC not doing this, cutting tree budgets over the last twenty years and now trying to 'catch up' under the PFI and doing loads of work in a short time span. I'm sure it was in one of the AA journals or newsletters, but a fellow called Bill Anderson wrote a very good article to explain this. I'm not sure if he is an ex TO from Sheffield (he's a consultant/contractor now and not personally involved) There are two sides to every story, but the media have been largely biased to STAGS viewpoint - makes a good story!
  18. I'm pretty sure that the engineering solutions that the panel look to, have one problem. They're not actually written into the contract, so yet more funding has to be found. So it becomes a bit pointless, receive enough objections for felling on a particular street, the spec goes to the 'tree panel'. The panel decide there's an alternative to removal , there is no funds and it's outside of the PFI
  19. After reading about the threats being made by residents to the tree lads, can anyone blame them from trying to hide their identities.
  20. Someone read about habitat piles over the weekend and thought............
  21. Truck was full/at weight, and didn't want to be featured on the 'Overloaded' thread?
  22. Speak for yourself mate, nothing wrong with my knees...... I'll PM you all my other ailments, misery loves company
  23. A million dollars was a lot more then than it is today. A wonder what financial value today would be required to fit the HSE's tolerability of risk triangle?
  24. It is a photo, Time did a short article/video on it https://petapixel.com/2016/11/28/lunch-atop-skyscraper-story-behind-iconic-photo/ The two fellows to the left have been alledgely identified, https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/lunch-atop-a-skyscraper-photograph-the-story-behind-the-famous-shot-43931148/ Personally, I think the photographers who took some of the shots had some courage, working way outside their normal environment.
