  1. Must of had my log burner on since at least October. But tonight it,s out of a job. Seems a bit weird not to have it on. I think I miss it : any one beat this .and is still throwing logs on tonight.
  2. A farm mate lent us a repair kit when we made our log splitter . We done 3 of our own connections . It's like a plumbers cutting twists tool which embossed the metal on to flexi pipe. Never been a problem and dry as a bone. Our splitter has done 150 ton of cord. Off a Grunty 13 hp lister.
  3. From all this info ,seems less cooking time . And thicker.steak is needed .Trouble was it was a supermarket steak. Thinking about it ,butcher steak has always had better results. Oh it was a Newmarket shop . And you know what 4 legged animals roam there,
  4. Why is cooking your own decent quality steak to medium so flipping hard.allways about 12 mm thick. Try to leave to stand a few mins , after 5 mins a side cooking. Comes out with no red inside. If I was in restaurant I would send it back. So any tips anyone.
  5. My splitter very home made. But she has some power. Check " bog969 on tube. Funny was only thinking whilst splitting .instead of head with 4 way pushing on to solid plate , have plate on down stroke ram ,push log through a cutting base. Only prob logs would fall on floor. Need a conveyer underneath. As time spent removing logs that are still joind by a few strands of timber are a pain.this way each log would just push the last one through . I need a prosseser .
  6. In 2 days me and a 16 year old lad split logs with my diesel 2 cyl lister with a 4 way splitter head . We managed 2/3 rds of a 25 ton load of ash ,I reckon I done 12 trailer loads about 25 cube of logs. The lad puts logs on a bench and I split and throw on heap. We went from 10 till 4.30 with a break of half hour. I feel this is quite good going. What do people think. oh it's already ringed up
  7. Yes been splitting ash today so it will be seasoned. Had a good day with help from a young lad who was a great help. Very switched on only had to tell him once . Unlike my 2 bricky apprentices .
  8. Punk ipa amazing taste. also St. Peter's organic ale. My misses says it smells like grass. what bottles do people like. I do brew my own . Can't get near punk though.
  9. So what do people think wil be the average price for a cubed metre next season.
  10. Sorry bit confused.is your stove pipe already connected to the clay. Or is it inside the clay
  11. The sub base has a lot to do with pointing stay in. A good compacted base of hardcore/ type 1 to a good depth Maybe 6 inches .And a 2 inch bed of mortar 7-1. Will with stand a bit of frost heave more than cutting your turf off.I always think.
  12. Guns are crap. Been pointing loads of m2 of York stone over my 25 years in restoration and you won't beat getting on your knees with gauging trowel and a thin spline of wood and ramming scrunch dry 3-1 plastering sand - white cement. Strike the mortar both ways from edge of slabs to form shallow upstanding v . On normal slab still have mortar the same still ram with spline. But use joint iron or a shaped wood jointer. Guns do not get it solid. But is quicker. So would the phone calls saying my pointing has fallen out.
  13. Mate has just put a burner in his 70s house . He could not get liner down as clay was also 6 inch. He just pushed s/s liner inside about 4 inches Into first clay liner just above mantle. seemed a bit dodgy. But my clearview fittings are loose fit . They said no need for fire cement or the like, as air would only leak in a bit and would not leak smoke out. Which it does.nt. something to do with pressure . As a bricky for 25 years I've built many a stack in the past with. 9 inch internal liners. So hope fully you have these and can slip a liner down.or maybe a spigot of type maybe bought to join to 6 inch clay.
  14. Oh I mean laying down in back. Would get a good 8ft coffin in I reckon.
  15. I.m 6 ft never been a prob.speacialy in back.
  16. The black ambulance's ( the type you don't want a ride in) around here are all hi ace,s. last thing they need is being broke down in dead of night.
  17. Got 3 x reg hi aces at work from nearly new .. Never been any problem unlike lot newer vivaro . Not pretty like merc or tranny but these 3 just run and run. Bit dodgy in snow. Or on a bit of mud on slight hill and your stuck.

Not sure . Thought would put new with old one and take alook. Will have a go at things and play mechanics . Built a log splitter running of a 2cly lister 13 hp . Done all hydrolics. But will play safe with saw . The saw has cut about 125 ton on 2 1/2 chains.

Not sure what's what. I own the saw . But from new I have hardly used it as old boy in village rings all my cord up and I split it. Just bloke on YouTube said you need to replace sprocket.is the spur bit an insert of the sprocket. Just want to keep the saw safe for mate. Cheers cut4 fun

Where is a good place to get a new sprocket for my husky. Mate of mine cuts my cord with my saw he,s about to put 3 rd new chain on. Bloke on you tube says to fit new sprocket about 2 nd or 3 rd chain. Is this about right.normally i go chains direct .but not got husky sprockets.
  22. Clearview is way to go. 1100 quid gets your landlord a nice little pioneer 400. Second hand they still command 700 -800 pounds even many years later. I am biased as I own one. It is my only burner I,ve ever owned. But I done the research and am very happy. Blokes at work don't believe I don't have to clean The glass .But if I was a landlord would I put a £ 1100 burner in . Only knowing what I know about burners.
