  1. Thanks for your reply. I would be buying the land so I will own it. The land is used for equestrian at the moment...
  2. I'm looking at buying a small piece of land to use to tip woodchip, logs and rakings. I will not store any tools/equipment there. My business will still be registered at home. Will I need to pay business rates?
  3. Anyone else?
  4. Forgot to mention, I'm more than happy to supply beer money
  5. I'll pm you John.
  6. Afternoon all, We are based in East Dorset but we're working in West Dorset at the end of Jan. we are removing 3 large conifers and need a home for the woodchip as don't want to make several trips back to our usual site. Around 2 hrs round trip just to tip off. We will be looking at around 2/3 truck loads of woodchip. Has anybody got a tip site or know of a tip site in the Wool, Crossways, Morton area? Many thanks.
  7. Precisely... I'm not bothered either way!
  8. Discussed with my staff before we broke up for Xmas that anytime from 6pm on the 24th till 7.30 am on the 27th will be double time regardless of hours (over 9 hrs would be more). I would charge £80 per hour, per man from door to door for a minimum of 4 hours (during the day) £160 per hour for evenings (after 6pm).
  9. Picking our new one up later this week... Has anybody else got on, and if so do you like it?
  10. Simon Hart at Hartwood are the ones to call. Top bloke. 07909524526
  11. How come you didn't hear them?
  12. The storms hit us again last night... Anybody get any call outs?
  13. Yes, very true. Typically I would have a team of 3 on that job, price it at 300-350 and do 3 of them in a day (minimum).
  14. Based on the £300 job above... After all expenses, I would be left with £120 ... That's not a sufficient amount for a days graft. For a team of two for a day with a truck & chipper we won't go for any less than £550.
  15. Evening all, I'm on the look out for a confident and experienced climber. Must hold relevant certs and be able to carry out aerial tree work to a high standard. Small company with adequate equipment for the job and great hardworking staff. 80% domestic work with lots of tea and coffee!! Based in East Dorset. Must be hardworking, punctual and competent. Excellent rates of pay. Must have own climbing kit. Please send a personal message if interested. Regular work in the future for the right person. Many thanks.
  16. I used to charge me, truck and my 9'' Vermeer out for £250 on a regular basis and £300 for non regular people.
  17. Speak to Ben Atkins on 07927932556. Tell him that I passed his details on and he'll do you a great deal. He's got a predator tracked grinder, narrow access etc. Does a proper job rather than just scraping over the top like some people do.
  18. Just lit ours for the first time this year. (Since about April!!)
  19. Timon, and anyone else who may be interested in it... You can see a couple pics on page 17. Half way down.
  20. Hi all, yesterday I paid the deposit on a new St6. Can't wait until it arrives. This means that the Vermeer 935i, big yellow beast is now for sale. Starts and runs but drops in revs and then rises again. Ive been told that it needs new pipes, and the tank needs draining & cleaning. It's got a 50hp bullet proof Perkins engine. Pictures above! 3k NO VAT.
  21. Hi all, haven't been on all weekend. Thanks for your kind words. For those wanting to take the next step, it's all about trusting your staff. Find some decent staff who you can rely on, trust and know that you won't get phone calls from saying that this has broken/what are we meant to be doing here etc etc. Anybody want any advice feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer with my experience. Thanks again.
  22. So, yesterday was a great success. I have been running my own business now for 23 months and am loving it. For the past 3 months it has been non stop manic, and I've been finding it difficult to manage to fit everything in. On average I'm working from 5.30 am to 10.30 pm everyday, (as I'm sure lots of others on here are). Now, on Wednesday I decided to send my two guys out to do the two jobs on their own to allow me to look at numberous jobs. This is the first I've had the balls to do it! They did a fantastic job on both of them and I've had phone calls from the customer to say so. At the age of (21 next month) I feel it is a really big jump to have two guys out completing the jobs before schedule and still maintaining a professional image for the company. I am planning on sending them both out again at least once a week to undertake work to allow me more time to price jobs up and complete paperwork etc. Thank you Ben & Sam - top work lads.
  23. Check out the AA website. Got site specific ones on there.
