  1. Imo, I think my business name is quite clever. My name is Will Timberlake and my business name is Timbers Tree Care. Some may like it, some probably don't!
  2. Thank you. Yes, I'm thinking the same actually. Would look pretty smart. I've got a meeting with the website man on Friday so will do that then. :thumbup1:Need to update the gallery too as the pics are pretty old now.
  3. Cool. I'm very interested in the 66. What year and how much please buddy?
  4. Haha. I've been self employed from the off, but free lancing/subbing and started out on my own in November 2014.
  5. I paid for all my tickets myself from the wages I earnt.
  6. Nobody paid for my training in Eggs?
  7. I would have done the same too. I would only give him 1 month to buck up his ideas and show a vast improvement... Otherwise your going to be spending ALOT of money on him, which is pretty much wasted.
  8. Anyone else got any pics of there vehicles? Before anyone comes to the conclusion, I'm not going to rob them! Just interested to see what people use for there work.
  9. No, I'm after taking on a ' PROPER ' apprentice. Just trying to find out the facts etc. I've found that I will need to pay them £165 per week. 7.30 - 4.30, 5 days a week. Just trying to work out if it's worth doing, or if it'll be better to just carry on using subbies. Before you all say, subbies will know what there doing, they'll earn me more etc etc etc... I already know this.
  10. Thanks for all your input guys. It's been really helpful. Just a couple more questions... Will I, the employee have to pay the full amount for each ticket, or just part of it? Also, regarding sick pay, Will I have to pay them sick pay, if they are I'll for one or two days? Or is it only if they have a sick note from a doctor?
  11. I know, I've been trying to get him to come back onto Facebook and Arbtalk but he's enjoying life more without it he says. Just too many d**ks. He's well and happy and keeping busy though.
  12. It is indeed. Were very good friends mate. Even if we are opposite ends of the country!
  13. Re living an old thread which I started. Here's my current setup. I used to use my Navara and an old twin axle trailer, and then moved on and bought my chipper and started chipping into my Navara. Sold that then I bought my Iveco. Here's some pictures!
  14. Hmm yes, that's what I'm worrying about. Do you HAVE to pay for them to do there nptc tickets? Is it something that you have to pay for by law?
  15. I'm not worried about having someone who's dog *hit. I've had many college lads with me on days, some on more than one. Many are absolutely definitely a NO. We'll all of them are, except one. He's brilliant. Been with me a couple of times now and is the bees knees. He's not money ordinated, he wants to learn and better himself in the tree surgery world. We haven't discussed £'s per day/week yet but I don't think it'll be a big issue for him to start on the lowest wage. I feel he is a real asset to my company. I like the way of giving them irregular bonus', as this encourages them to go above and beyond, even more! Still considering it all at the moment and weighing up the pros and cons.
  16. I've done something similar to this before... We had 3 guys on chainsaws, and 5 guys (all without quals) just dragging and burning it. Worked very well and had the hectare of gorse cut and burnt within 2 days.
  17. Evening all, Over the few days I've had off I've been considering taking an apprentice on in June/July/September 2016. Just to clarify, 1. What is the weekly pay that I have to pay someone under 21. 2. Will I need to provide PPE by law, as people keep telling me other things. I always thought that I had too. Any opinions, pros and cons please to taking someone on. (I've already got my eye on somebody who is interested but need to find out more information first). Merry Xmas all! Thanks
  18. You'll have to register it as commercial mate. Tree Surgery and forestry are NOT part of agricultural. You'll need an o licence to drive it etc etc same as you've listed above. People think it's a grey area but it's actually very Black and White.
  19. £400, half a day with three blokes.0800-13-00. Then onto the next job. Nice job for the morning. That's my pricing strategy though. That price is for my company, my overheads, my profit margins, etc etc etc.
