1. Advice from a respected forum please. Got a neighbour whose gardener has dumped a pile of brash and two large piles of grass cuttings on my land. Hadn't noticed as been too busy working on the house to go look round the borders of the wood. It's in a conservation area and the trees have tpo's. Went round to their house to politely ask about the rubbish. Flat denial that it is anything to do with them. Spoke to their neighbour who tells me it's their gardener. Options are Do nothing and put up with woodland being used as a tip - don't think so. Tell them to clear site. Or I'll get quotes for clearance and pursue them for costs. Bag it all up and dump it on their drive. Not sure who I can get to enforce. Not keen on rotting garden compost causing disease issues with the trees. Grateful for views. Can't think straight for the red mist Thanks in advance for opinions Rob
2. Live in Yorkshire. Went to pick up some oak for a woodworking project from British Hardwoods. They had oak chippings bagged up ready for some company to pick up that makes biodiesel. They added a scoop of something to each bag before sealing them up. Seemed that it had a reasonable value as they weren't interested in letting me have some for smoking meat on the BBQ, but they are Yorkshiremen and tight as you like! You could give them a ring and have a chat.
3. I bought some rolls of Knauf Earthwool from gumtree. They retail at £25 ish, but you can get them on offer at the big DIY sheds. This guy was selling them at £12 a roll. Must admit I did actually find a complete roll in a skip at work!!

5. Just bought a compact tractor. Kubota B2400 and seem to have a flat rear. May have run over a nail in the garage as the builders have been in. Anyone know of a place to get it fixed / buy new tyres in the area? Or of any mobile repair services. Any help appreciated.
6. Try Ray Iles at the Old Tool Store. He deals with Gransfors and make a whole load of green woodworking tools. Very helpful guy. Cheers Rob
7. I've got some Altberg boots. Bought them in Richmond from the factory shop. They make military boots and are extremely good quality. They do several styles and they last for ages. They will rebuild the soles etc.
8. Great advice Doobin. Think I'll hire a 4wd dumper in the first instance and see how I get on. Quite keen to avoid ripping up the soil. Many thanks Rob
9. Very kind offer. I'm up in Leeds. Could always have a chat with him on the phone. Cheers Rob
10. Could do with some motorised assistance to tow a trailer and move a chipper when I hire one from time to time. Working about two and a half acres of woodland. I'm based in the Leeds area. Was looking online and have seen the Yamaha Grizzly and the Honda Foreman. Does anyone have any good or bad experience? What kind of mileage or hours is acceptable for a second hand model? Any advice is appreciated. Kind thanks Rob
11. I also bought a 362 and have been impressed. Certainly powerful and not too heavy for long periods of use. Some say the 361 was better, but I can't say.
12. Only other thing to consider is that the rings can be quite brittle when dry as they only have short longitudinal fibres. Both this and the checking are the reason that you see very few wood turnings done radially. It does look great though. What bar and Alaskan Mill combo have you got there? I've got the 362, but haven't got the mill yet. Was going to get the 24inch and upgrade to longer rails if I get a bigger saw. Cheers Rob
13. Sounds like he had a peaceful ending surrounded by those that loved him. Doesn't seem to have suffered either. Sad news. Had a similar loss of my German Shepherd many years ago.
14. Is it fresh fuel? Had similar problems with old fuel i.e. >3 months old.
15. Where do I get hold of Marengo from? Think I'll have to treat it a couple of times and then look to re-seed.
16. Been looking at some stuff called Kurtail. Supposed to be good at killing it. Anyone tried using it?
17. Yes, it's a damp site. Not sure I can easily improve drainage.
18. Was hoping to use some sheep as lawnmowers! What did you spray with? Cheers Rob
19. Bought a new house which has an attached paddock. All looked well until the dreaded weed seems to have woken. The majority of the paddock seems infested and I wonder whether anyone has any advice. I appreciate any advice. Kind thanks Rob
20. Just the advice I needed. Really grateful.
21. I'm looking to begin milling, more hobby for woodworking than commercial. The saws I have are 023,026 and a recently purchased ms362. I was hoping to get a ripping chain on a 20 inch bar on the 362 and do some dabbling on 12-16 inch trunks. Ultimately, I want a 660, but can't afford yet. Was thinking the small log mill, but don't want to buy two mills if I can avoid it. Any advice is well appreciated. Great forum. Many thanks in advance.

Been following Arbtalk for sometime with the intention of working up to milling.

I'm in the market for an MS362 and was thinking of trying a Sugihara 18 inch bar. I was then going to get a additional standard 20 inch bar and using ripping chain to make chopping boards.

I'm eventually aiming for an MS660 and an Alaskan.

23. Can anyone recommend some decent two piece extension ladders? More the supplier. Decent quality and value is what I'm after. Grateful in advance. Seen some Lyte DIY ones on Screwfix.
24. Very handy for dragging and moving stuff. Bought one on the sage advice of forum members. Well worth spending a few quid to save the back and as someone on here said, they're great fun to use!
