    Anyone able to recommend one? Was looking at the Stihl ones, but they seem expensive. Are they any better than cheaper versions?

    I connected a new battery the wrong way round (baby induced sleep deprivation and general stupidity whilst rushing!) Burnt out the alternator. Also a 300tdi Landy. I feel a bit better on hearing your tale. Thankfully not an expensive disaster.

    Thanks for the reply. Love my tree work, but previously broke my back in a cycling accident. Anything that helps is a bonus. Need to move a load of sycamore through a woodland and trying to think of the best way possible.

    Does anyone use the red American made log lifters. They're about £50 and seem like a good idea. Be interested to hear any feedback before taking the plunge. Many thanks in advance. Rob
