  1. Bonkers, what a nail biter!
  2. I've had experience of forestry & it's so physically demanding, I've been near crawling on the floor at the end of a days graft and I'm a relatively fit guy. Tree surgery is great as you can work in bursts and have good breaks & or get finished early, plus the customer are usually really happy as it's taken a lot less time than they thought it would so your not under there feet for too long. Firewood is a great little side line business for a tree surgeon as you get the wood for free, so you can sell competitively, I usually sell mine unseasoned as 75% of my customers have wood burners that'll burn anything. Hope this helps & good luck with whatever you choose to do THM
  3. Timberwolf 12/75g - my new Christmas present to me!! Great power to weight ratio, pretty good at getting around the way it tilts backwards and then you can wheel it around
  4. Sorry to re-live an old thread. But I really fancy a isuzu denver, are they good value for money, pull well?
  5. I run the 261-cm & I'm very happy with it. It really is so versatile, great weight to power ratio. The important thing about this saw is that it's a great mid-range machine as I can use it for felling both small and large trees. I run it on a 16" as that way I get maximum chain speed with it
  6. Hi having been in the business for 8 years now there has been instances whereby the customer wants the best price I can possibly do. There are a number of options I offer each and every client when quoting for any job. One is taking waste away, one is chipping waste and leaving on site and another is popping hedge cuttings on their compost heap or bonfire. Well to get to the point a job if was on yesterday they want the price screwing down the best I could and so I said ok, being out of the way I can leave the waste and you can do what you want with it. So while I was cutting they got a bonfire struck up and as I cut they cleared and put the waste straight on the fire. My question is, is this allowed. I would imagine if I had taken the branches to the fire I would be in the wrong as in our industry I have to deal with the waste properly (I take mine to a registered composting site and everything I take is booked and charged monthly). Or do I have to say to the customer they can only burn when I have finished job?
  7. Ok thanks very much for the advice guys. And thanks Dean yes I'll give you a shout.
  8. Ok thanks. Does anyone else have experience they could share about the best compact chipper please?
  9. Hi I'm in the market for a compact chipper, ideally jo beau- but I expect that's not easy to get hold of in the uk. Is anyone selling theirs? I had an entec tree busta for a while but I found it near Impossible to move unless their was two of us. Was thinking camon but I've seen some vids and it doesn't seem to pack the punch needed
  10. Stack shelves (or in my case a greenkeeper on a golf course) full time and be self employed on top. That's the way I do it and I'm fricking loaded lol
  11. We was on a job a couple of years back and my bro was chatting ti the customer in his garage when I was sat having some dinner in the van. A few mins later my bro comes to the the van and says he's just been given a mororbike, jammy git. He's On my job and he's the one who gets given a honda cb350, charming!!
  12. You got to think as well... Climbing is hard work, I usually climb two to three hours max, I am rather fast with experience however. 8 hours climbing is flipping hardcore graft (I did 8 hour climbs in my twenties and that where it stays!!) so it's worth £150 easy.
  13. As per title, need someone handy with a chainsaw and plenty of brash monkey experience This is for a job where I have to remove 3 trees, not huge, just fluffy. Someone local to Banbury would be ideal, if not then localish Tuesday 3rd June, Hours are between 8am-4pm and £96 for your trouble. .
  14. Flipping horrible train, was going to have a major hedge bashing job but can't do now as customer is a bit keen on his lawn staying tidy.
  15. Could be worse, you could chip yourself..., [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji_-m_ylq10]Worker pulled through woodchipper - YouTube[/ame]
  16. Surey a top handle through a chipper would knacker a chipper, the guide bar would do the most damage surely?! I've got my mouth open reading this thread lol, never so much as lost a pruning saw through a chipper in ten years!! Well maybe a coke can or two Got any pics?!
  17. Hi looking to make a few contacts in the Stamford, Rutland area for trade swaps. I get landscaping enquiries that I'm not keen on and I'm looking to swap these 'leads' for tree and hedge services leads. 25 mile radius of Stamford thanks
  18. I climbed trees, lots of trees. My father has a lot of land where we used to live when we were kids and I made it my mission to climb most of them, the bigger the better. Nuts seeing as I hadn't even heard of a harness when I was 9 or 10. I loved it though didn't get caught once else my old man would have had my pants down
  19. Hi I know the ms181 can have a 16" bar on it but can anyone tell me if it chugs a bit. Is it a certain chain/bar combo that only runs on this setup? I've run a 14" on it for years and it goes fine and seeing as it's such a light and nimble saw I'd like it if it runs a 16"
  20. Down to a trimmer climbing weight of 84 kilos (13 stone) now. What did it was just cutting out the crap during the day. I also eat 4 pieces of fresh fruit or raw vegatables every day, it's good cos it fill you up.... Just a nice little tip there
  21. I probably should add that I've felled the trees today so it's all stacked with great access, ready to go. It's 100% green connifer. There's a localish chip tip site. Oh and there's two of us on site so we can feed the chipper no probs. So who's gonna have a ride out to sunny boston to earn some Easter cash??!!
  22. As above I need a man, van, chipper and one load of chip away. Job is in boston lincs. Who's free for a couple of hours tommorow and how much?? Cash paid on the day. Ta muchly
  23. Taking down half dozen trees today in boston lincs. Welcome to come and take all the wood away for free at some point this bank holiday. The timber is mostly connifer so I doubt it'll go like hot cakes but there might be a demand for it somewhere in the area. It will be cut into manageable lengths. Call 07956 422120, cheers, Luke
  24. Anyone selling a 1980's defender 90. I wAnt one so bad! How much they selling for??
  25. Has anyone got one of these, heard they do a good job. Any reviews?? Looking to buy one to rotavate alotments in my spare time. Has anyone got one they want to sell me?
