  1. They are great saws. I'd love another but wouldn't pay a premium. Use it. It won't improve with age but it's unlikely to let you down much.
  2. I'll second the ammo box idea. Really useful and waterproof. Getting more difficult to find now as the MOD dispose of them for "H&S" reasons! American ones are still available though.
  3. Fiskar 77 anvil are pretty good. Proper powerful. The Bypass ones are x77's I think.
  4. My dad works for the NT at KL and visited at the weekend. He bought me a small section of the tree as we've chatted about it before. He researches for the estate, nothing to do with felling! It's a shame it's gone as it was rather stunning. Tim
  5. Near Lewes! Clues in the NEAR bit. I'm not going to be daft enough to post my address
  6. I'm near Lewes but my neighbour works out of Crowborough.
  7. Indeed. A neighbor is a PC locally and came to warn me about securing up my kit properly as all he's doing at present is sheds and garage break ins. There's some gits out there! Tim
  8. Evening all, I might have the need for some help. I've got 5-10 days scrub clearance work on the SDW near Alfriston starting soon. Ideally I need someone who is self employed, PA1-6 tickets, insured to do stump treatment (paint brush application only) and technically capable of a bit of brush cutter work. Chainsaw use not necessarily required as I can do that but CS30-31 might prove useful. Oh, bonfires on the hills, beautiful surrounding and there's a bit of cash as well Drop me a line if local (ish), interested and not scared of a few days of hard work. I can pick up from Lewes/Glynde train stations if that helps. It could well be Saturday work so I can fit it in before the end of Feb. Cheers Tim [email protected]
  9. I love this forum. Full of helpful useful advice. Already planned to stagger the joints. Good call on the spacer. It's got to be uniform over this sort of distance otherwise it'll look poor and that won't do.
  10. Ace. Priced it with 4x4 posts for extra strength. There's going to be a lot of gravel board hanging off them! Oh, horizontal as well. Actually looking forward to doing something a bit different.
  11. Anyone got any experiences of this style of fencing. A client has asked me to do a 15m run. High wind area, posts every 1.5m, 1.8m high and 150mm boards with a 100mm gap to increase privacy as its a shared boundary. Looks simple enough but any experiences/advice welcome. Cheers Tim -I usually do closeboard fencing but the customer already has hit and miss on one side and likes the idea of it on the other side now his panel monstrosity has fallen over
  12. Is it a bar code? Scan it with you phone and see what pops up? Maybe it's a message from "the other world."
  13. Tempted Russell but a rear roller would finish me off lifting it into the back of my Fourtrak ) Edit: Mmm, no roller. Could be interested then. I'll try and pm you.
  14. Mmm, nearer £400 with the man Jones. Can afford the 52S though. Been offered a great price on the Viking.
  15. Anyone use one of the basic petrol ones? Looking at spending around £300 as I can't afford more at present but I'd like something that will last and do a good cut. Looking at the 248t. Opinions appreciated. I've got a Mountfield Multiclip at present which does a lovely job but it appears to be compacting the grass so after a few hours of sun the cuts looks a little ragged. The blades sharp and the engines running smooth before you all ask ) Cheers Tim
  16. Worth looking at the BTCV. Did both my tickets (30 and 31) with them and got an NVQ as well for around £250 IIRC. Think they've water the course down now but it was called Land Based Operations. Good luck. tim
  17. The Kombi's a Swiss Army knife, the HL95 is a single tool. If space and adaptability are important then the Kombi. If not then the HL95 albeit there's been a fair bit said on here about the 4mix not being great engines. Tim (Kombi owner, gardener and happy as a pig in poo with it)
  18. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/stolen-equipment/51053-me-does-look-bit-sus.html#post775921 Caught my eye on the Brighton Gumtree site. Looks sus in my book. Tim
  19. I'm avoiding albeit would like a bigger saw :O/ Haven't told Jonsie so will try now.
  20. stihl chiansaw , blower/ blows and shreds,in box. ,hedge trimmer in Brighton | Greenhouses, Sheds, & Gazebos for Sale | Gumtree.com Tim
  21. Not sure this is the right place for this but here goes; I've got a new Stihl 3/8 18'' chain that came in a .325 box. Does anone fancy a swap for a .325 18'' chain as this one is no use to me and I'm too far from where I bought it to bother taking it back. (eBay will be a faff as well) Cheers and sorry if this isn't a good place to post a SWAP. Tim
  22. Blow into piles, builders bags and dump. Shouldn't take you long so a nice little profit. Tim
  23. Well done for living in Crawley and still managing not to drink. I worked there for a few years and only managed a few nights a week in the town before I had to run for the hills. The commute home was always a pleasure ) Good luck on the job hunt. Same sort of skills as me. I'm based in Lewes but "might" have a day or two over the winter if the National Park decide to employ me to make a mess on the hills. The trains form Crawley to Lewes are rather good. Tim
  24. Anymore details? Full time/part time? Where in Kent? Cheers Tim
  25. I love mine. Best tool/s I've got to be fair to it. KM85 with various ends. It amazes me what it can cope with. Tim
