  1. Because thats how we dealers work:sneaky2:
  2. hope that helps Mike, but its an MTD, so I would scrap it:biggrin:
  3. Could be Mike. If the e stands foer electric the I guess the belt will be the same as the R The part number is 754-0327 (also 954-0327) and the RRP is £14.95 plus vat
  4. The UK Yardman spares list does not show a 5018e Mike. Could it be a 5018R?
  5. New 026's ???? They are 1 turn on each screw If its an MS260, or MS261 then 3/4 on the H and 1 turn on the L is correct if the limiters are on. The non adjustable pump on the MS260 Farmboss does not have a drive arm, but also has a different drum to the std MS260 which has an adjustable oil pump driven by an arm. There is a conversion kit available to upgrade to an adjustable pump.
  6. I always stick to genuine belts where possible Mike. Non genuine belts seldom last as well as the genuine item. Many genuine belts have lengths that fall between the 'stock' belt, and wedge angles too are often different. Also have to make sure that 'raw edge belts' are not used in clutching situations. I agree that some original belts (lawnflite in particular) are well overpriced, but I have found it cheaper in the long run.
  7. It does not need a circlip, as the cover plate has a little hole in it that fits over the peg, preventing the lever from coming off. A circlip may, I think, prevent the cover from fitting properly. Worth checking before fitting one.
  8. Just interested to know why you feel you should do the crankseals as a 'matter of course'? I personally would not touch them unless they were causing trouble. It seems a bit of an overkill. Maybe I am wrong.
  9. Its easy to criticise, and I daresay many have over the years, but it is a simple case of too much throttle. The throttle should be dropped before reaching the crest. But it easy to say, and also easy to get it wrong. I have launched in these conditions many times, and been close to a flip more than once. It certainly gets the adrenalin running.
  10. For those who have not seen one, this is a beach launch. As can be seen here, its not always easy. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCYADeobHaI]RNLI lifeboat launch in rough sea - YouTube[/ame]
  11. surely not?
  12. The 1186 E1 has carb part number 809019 which is, as you say, obsolete. I have emailed Briggs , and there is an alternative carb available to replace 809019, but it is £169.25 plus vat.
  13. Moving away from saws and bikes for a bit. I sold a new lawn tractor to a guy last year. At the beginning of this season he brought his blades in for a sharpen. He had taken them off himself, and put them back on because he is, after all, " a bit handy" (his words) When I collected it for its annual service he said "oh, by the way, I would like you to have another go at the blades because it has not cut at all well since you sharpened them in the spring, maybe you got the angles a bit wrong?"
  14. I did not actually say that I have seen a set of points myself Steve:001_rolleyes:
  15. Not all dealers, there are good and bad in everything. To be fair with this case, there are not many dealer mechanics left who have actually seen a set of points:biggrin:
  16. The trouble with those county's is that they start to float when in deepish water, so only used in still water such as harbour launches where the depth is easily judged. Ocean swells will lift them off the sea bed. If they were to 'ship a wave' they would fill up pretty quickly.
  17. I am particularly interested in this thread as I am considering selling Efco saws. Most of my saws are sold to domestic users or gardeners. I current stock the small Huskie 140. Its OK, but don't impress me much. Also the Stihl MS181, which is an OK saw but domestic users can never start them. The I sell the Mitox range, which sell on price, but virtually every one will come back with a small problem within the first 2 years. What I need is a range of small to mid size saws that start easily, do exactly what they should and not be full of stupid niggly problems. They need to be well priced, but need not be the cheapest on the market. Could Efco be the answer?
  18. Ask a Weeble, they would be no fun at all with the pointy end down.
  19. I have just checked the 2013 catalogue, and they are back in as two seperate items. But they are the same head.
  20. The suspense is getting to me!!!! Seriously though, good luck with it, whatever it is. (as long as its legal)
  21. Cheers BJ, there will be just the two of us, but for only one night, so the beach hut is out, and the 'lilac room' just a litle small. Thanks for the info though. Not going to have a lot of time for fishing either, as we will covering around 250-350 miles every day.
  22. After decades of pulling recoils on all sorts of machines with no problem, I managed to hurt myself today. It was only a 22cc Makita hedetrimmer, but somehow I managed to pull a muscle in my upper forearm. I am having trouble picking up my cup of tea at present and my little finger hurts like hell. I hope its just one of those things and not a sign of things to come. Going to have to pull left handed tomorrow (LEAVE IT!!)
  23. Looks like we may be in Ullapool on the 16th for one night, so hopefully there will be accommodation available. Can you suggest somewhere reasonable?
