  1. As Doobin says you need anti vibe springs . So a bigger , more refined pro type strimmer/brush cutter is required . My choice would be the Husqvarna RX series . 45cc or 55cc jobs but any of the top brand pro type machines .
  2. Exactly the same for me ! Its spookily the same !

You won't go wrong with the Stihl bud . 👍 The sizable percentage pales into insignificance when you consider the massive percentage that say nothing because there is nothing to say and the percentage of Oregon chains used , particularly in the PNW is megga huge . 🙂

I honestly don't think there is a bad rep to ignore on Oregon chains bud . Some of the peeps will say shit for shits sake . I am an old git and have been at it longer than some and in all that time I have never had a duff Oregon chain . Or a Stihl one come to that but I have used probably , at a guess 80% more Oregon than Stihl chains .
  6. Just shot another rat with the .410 out of the landing window . Buggers are coming under the log store to get the spillings from the bird feeders I can recommend 3" magnum # 5 shot 👍 .

Oh , ok . I thought you must have had a dodgy Oregon chain . The Stihl cutter will last longer ( slightly ) than the Oregon one but the file will last longer ( slightly if sharpening Oregon ) than if sharpening Stihl . As I said 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other .
  8. Snowing quite heavily at the moment here at the foot of the South Downs . Big flakes but ground is not cold enough for it to settle . Lunch time the sun was out and if out of the Northerly wind it was quite warm .

I do think Stihl are slightly harder than Oregon but not as a fault but by design . For me ( when I was cutting ) it was a trade off for longevity of cutter ( the constant being clean wood ) and ease of sharpening . I would happily use both . Stihl was a top plate angle of nought ( level ) and Oregon down 10 degrees but hey ho all good .

I have never had a problem with over hardened cutters on Oregon chain but you have I suppose . Think its the most widely used chain over in the PNW .

So you just use Oregon for indoors then ? 🙂

I'm pretty much the same . Have used Stihl when I can get them in .058 gauge for my Huskys . Found them to be slightly harder than Oregon but not so you can't file them . Have used Husqvarna branded chain and that is fine as well . Carlton was a bit shit but can't remember why . Mostly Oregon though . I would have said that Oregon were a superior chain rather than an inferior or even as trigger A says an interior chain 👍

No , not found this . Happens with Rototech chains i have heard .
  14. In 1957 I had a duffel coat like the lad is wareing . Does that count ?🙂
  15. You shagged a Guilimot ? 😐
  16. Ok Andrew . Was not sure as on some Huskys you can .
  17. Same ! .Its a bit like when the customer says I have removed and cut up all the thin bits . You find a pile of brash all pointing this way and that and not one bit long enough to go in the chipper with out having to poke it in with a plastic shovel !
  18. Ok . I think you can grease the bearing through the hole on the end of the crankshaft but you will still need to remove the clutch if you want to change the powermate rim . Or is it a spur welded to the clutch drum ? might be if its " home owner "
  19. Yes I thought so to . Seems to be using Stramp in this vid ( German made Marshal clone amp ) .
  20. obviously you have cleaned out the oilway in the bar ...
  21. Yes . The depressions with the direction arrow . Use a copper or aluminum drift and give it a sharp tap . I find compression is usually enough but some people use a piston stop of some kind . Try it without first and make sure the decomp button is fully out . Looks like a 346xp or similar ?
  22. M y stove is steel ( Burley ) but I don't get that .
