  3. are the planners your using the gladiator vent ones? i've been reading that the normal gladiators can get really hot!
  4. haha thats a point! i've just done a bit of research on the engleburt strauss trousers and they do seem pretty good! i just wonder how long they would last..
  5. hey guys, looking at some chainsaw trousers and these seem to tick all the boxes? how long did these end up lasting everyone?? there still only 120 a pair incl VAT!

  7. Hey all! I'm in the market for some chainsaw trousers and was wondering what you all regard as the best in terms of comfort/durability/breathability (as i am one sweaty mofo). not too worried about price as all the top end ones are about 240 after VAT. I've got my eye on the pfanner gladiators with type A protection. to put this into perspective I'm currently using Oregon Yukon type C's - pretty cheap and a massive step up from the Sip Boxers i had before them in terms of cut and comfort. thinking of keeping the oregons for crawling across the top of connie hedges as this seems to be the main wrecker of trousers... anyone else do this?? ta!
  8. if its your engine management light then its not going to be abs - I'm pretty sure your abs light would turn on if there was a problem with that. engine management is anything related with your engine! lambada sensors can cause the engine management to come on for example!
  9. if your keen to go to the gym i would only exercise in a low rep range, with heavier weight - train for strength. Think about it, tree work is full of high rep relatively light weight movements. you will burn out if you try to replicate that sort of volume at the gym. plus the amount of calories you will have to consume would be scandalous. this is what i would do. - Low bar squat: no more than 5 sets x 5 reps each session. - deadlift: sumo or conventional - which ever style suits your body type no more than above and also no more than once weekly. both will work quads, hamstrings, glutes and also your core. deadlift will also work your upper back to some extent. get a good personal trainer to show you how to do this with good form!!!!!!! otherwise you risk injury. as far as upper body goes you could do some shoulder press or bent over rows, though depending on your body type. take it steady and work within your own limits! go to some yoga classes - you will probably be amazed at how inflexible you are if you haven't done it before. get on a road bike! this is something new to me and i thought i was relatively fit! all i can say is think again haha! all the best mate !!

  11. i'm not sure why, but i have the sudden urge to contact an accountant! i wonder why that could be.. seriously though, that's feasible for the tax year 2013/14 as i spent a fair bit of that one employed PAYE style... but for this year comings will be a good shout as its all been self employed so far. if you've got all invoices - earnings - expenses in organised properly why go through an accountant - bare in mind I'm self employed working for other business' with a very predictable income/outgoings. just out of interest

Hey all, Just having a quick thought really - i'm doing my tax return at the mo and thought of having a sticky post detailing exactly what you can put against your earnings as expenses to avoid paying un-necessary tax! so far my expenses include: - everything arb related - PPE, saws, climbing equipment - you get the idea, etc. - education - books, courses, etc. - business milage - 45p per mile traveled to and from place of work. as far as i am aware this means you cannot claim for repairs, VAT on fuel, running costs, etc if you claim 45p per mile. are the above legitimate to put against my earnings as expenses?? am i missing anything else that i could put against my expenses?? thanks!

  14. their price for a 441 is 1050 inc vat... you can buy on online from frjones for 350 less?!?!? scandalous. real hit and miss customer service as well, they can be a right cranky bunch it seems!
