  1. Before i went to beeline e2e I used to use 90cm of boa tied into double fishermans and a vt.... Nice and short....
  2. What's that then Neil? Anywhere local sell it.....?
  3. I was just about keeping up Adam! I assumed Paul was climbing SRT on his uni i must admit so gripping the rope less of an issue.... Could be wrong though! I do find keeping hold of aeris a bit of a challenge by the end of a wet day so can see how platinum would be tricky ddrt....
  4. Good answer! Want one of those....
  5. We have a few nice ones, not sure how they compare to others, will maybe get some photos.....
  6. Just been looking at that. Looks nice, can't be spliced though....
  7. Is that Samson? What diameter is it? Is it a soft or stiff cover?
  8. What do you have on the ends of it OM?
  9. If they're determined enough and can make as much noise as they like without getting noticed it doesn't matter what you do. I always think you'd be better off with a red care alarm which alerts the police and some kind of self closing and locking gate which stops them escaping. Add to that a noisy alarm, flashing lights, a tannoy system and some CCTV and you could have a proper laugh at their expense while they try to escape.... Trapped panicking tea leaves on YouTube. Like.
  10. I have Quick Office Pro Hd on my ipad. It's basically MS Office and fully compatible with it. Bought it mainly for excel. The word processing programme in combination with My Script Memo, which is a hand writing recognition notepad which converts handwritten notes into typed text, is a great little bundle.
  11. I've managed 3 days so far on our syndicate at one of our farms, all 60 bird days and I've put in a reasonable show on all dates. We also had a very dry day walking round the home farm and neighbouring land over Christmas, I just had 1 brace. I have one more day left on the syndicate towards the end of the month, if everyone picks up their game that should be getting on for a 100 bird day, the local pub will be pleased! I ducked out of a 200 bird day at wigmore a month ago to work which I'm kicking myself over... If just for the food and drink before, between and after the drives! It's been a good season for us, our keeper put in new pens and changed the covers round and it paid off. Looking forward to next year!
  12. Ha! I knew that!!!! Will look into the op mate
  13. This week's whimsy is taking me down the route of making up a new lanyard.... Long game is to learn splicing and splice up a few different bits of rope to use with a cinch in work positioning... Would like something small diameter, and thinking dynamic... Suggestions appreciated. Only want 15m ish so cost not a major factor but ability to buy per metre from the UK is important.... Finding that a bit tricky thus far. And if anyone can suggest a nice thin [ish] static to make up for use chogging down I'd like to do something for that too.... The racy black 11mm Marlow dynamic appeals to me... anyone use/used this....?
  14. Rog, can you just double confirm for me [again] the maximum permissible GTW on a post '97 B+E.... is it around the 7t mark? So behind my Range Rover with a GVW of 3050kg I can tow a trailer of MAM 3500kg right...? And if I want to drive tipper bigger than 3.5t GVW, I would need what sort of license? A C1? And that would take me up to 7.5t....? And then to tow behind a 7.5 tonner I would need a C1+E, and what's the maximum GTW for a post '97 C1+E..? And finally.... Does a post '97 B entitlement followed by a C1 test pass followed by C1+E test pass automatically give B+E entitlement or does B+E still need to be tested to get that entitlement? Or is a B+E a pre-requisite for taking a C1+E test, in the same way that Cat B is a pre-requisite for C1...? This will always get right up my nose because I passed in January '98....
  15. Not qualified to comment on the forestry specific kit but regarding the tractor itself, if it's stability you're concerned with the T won't have a great deal over the N where it counts, which is to the side... they're broadly the same width and while the T is undoubtedly heavier, as you say, you can ballast it up. With regards pumping, presumably the same capacity pump can be fitted to a front PTO as the rear, as Garth says, a front PTO off the crank will give you bags of power. Plus you gain on manoevrability and save yourself a few quid.... sounds like win/win to me.....
  16. When I take my kids climbing I just use a lowerable anchor, if they freeze up I can gently bring them back down. It's doubly useful because I can drag a pulley up there to reduce the friction for them without the expense of buying / complexity of installing a pulley saver. I use the same arrangement if I'm climbing for someone who can't do aerial rescue, which is half of the time [not in a professional situation you understand...!]. As you point out though, the issue with this would come if I was unconscious and stropped in and so couldn't cut my strop.... Calculated risk.....
  17. Thanks Skip, kind offer, I don't think I'll get the opportunity to take you up on it sadly but thanks anyway! I'll speak to Nod, I've made up a couple of baskets of tools I'll pick up online and give it a try. Going to start with a few trial splices I can test to destruction first before I go hanging myself off them.... My old man can splice from his sailing so I'll pick his brains if [and when!] I get stuck....
  18. Complete machine....? Rubber tracks, variable track width, saddle on the platform to rest your arse on, low COG, removable ballast weight under the operator's platform, diesel engines, working lamps....
  19. That's not quite the ends of the earth Steve....! I used to use this system (albeit using just a normal prusik loop on the standing rope to attach my pulley, rather than bootlaces) and it worked a treat. It actually felt like a backward step at the time when I went to th hc....!
  20. Bummer.....
  21. Do you need to take it off or can it run alongside the new app? Only cos I bought tapatalk and I don't want to waste my 2 quid!
  22. Found them, great resource!
  23. Cheers Rich.... Best way for me to go then is probably to decide what I want to splice then get someone to tell me what I need to splice it.....
  24. All the kit on the treeworker site is quite expensive, the Samson kit is around 40 quid, but I've only found it on US websites.....
