    For future reference tramadol and codeine are the answer. Clove oil won't even scratch it! If you go see your GP he can give you antibiotics and pain killers. They may be all that's needed and clear any painful infections up in a few days.....

    I get over my nerves by getting him to explain exactly what he intends to do, show me the tools and give me a running commentary. I find the most painful part of the whole experience paying at the end.... That's ace. But what the hell are you doing on a dentistry forum....?!?!

    That would be a very nice route actually, either over Sapey and the Bromyard Downs or past Slaters..... I'd need a lift home though. Air Ambulance or AA.... Congratulations, that's about 4 times the distance I could manage.... If I had the motivation to set foot in a gym.....

    I'm a bit of a fan of the dentist in a weird sort of way. Had root canal and a couple of fillings last week, booked myself for another root canal for first week in May. Once the needle is done with I'm fine. And if I feel anything I just demand more anaesthetic..... I get a bit tense at the beginning but very quickly realise I'm fine and relax into 2 hours of 'Where's Wally' on the ceiling...... Pulling your own teeth out is a little bit mental!

    Was it Epic Cycles Paul...? I've been told by friends who've bought there that they're a good bunch... They're in Ludlow now... Allister is Malvern so I guess a route somewhere up and down the Teme Valley would be most central.... What with my lazy arse and old mountain bike on semi-slicks you two would be doing a lot of standing around in tight shorts preening yourselves while you wait for me to catch up though

    I did a quick 4 mile burst into Tenbury to pick up one of the cars from the garage this evening. Couldn't do any more 'cos Mrs was working tonight. Did my short 'cyclocross' route last night, couple of miles, which I'll extend as I get more fit and less fat. It's all up and down and not like smashing out 15 miles on the road. Yesterday was the first trip out of the year and I was pleasantly surprised by not dying, but i've got a long way to go before I'm doing anything respectable..... Found a second hand full sus Felt in a bike shop today, 2 years old, ridden once, full lockout, 900 quid. After how sore my arse felt when I got back on the bike this evening it looks rather appealing......

    Cheers! Thought I'd better post a few more photos of some of the other climbing areas just so those of you travelling from a long way don't waste a journey if they're a bit small for you. You know what you're in for! I did park my bike at the foot of them to give an indication of scale but it hasn't shown up very well!

    Well, first day of work in the British summer time, so I pumped the tyres up on the bike and went for a short blast. Stopped in to have a look at the other area I'd like us to climb in while I was there and took some photos. Some ideal novice trees here. Photos.... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    You need to get yourself into a shop really Vince to try some gear out I think. Any one of us can give recommendations but while it may well be a good one, you might not like it when you try it. Only going on what I've heard, but if you want to skip 13mm XTC or Gecko type stuff with a split tail then Yale Imori might be a good rope to start on, and buy a few metres of 10mm ocean polyester to tie yourself to experiment with a few hitches, a couple of oval carabiners and a pulley, which could well be a DMM Hitch Climber pulley if you fancy..... Could you sub the climbing work out which you have coming up and concentrate on the grounding and managing the job? If there is any way you can hold on it sounds like we'll have virtually every climbing system and component here on the 20th to see / try with the exception of a hitch hiker and a petrol powered ascender!     More down to how much you use. Can't comment on red because i don't buy it at the pump, but I buy my derv on account from the pump at our local oil depot, my parents have a bulk tank. Typically they are paying 10 to 15 pence per litre less. Would save me around £350 per year if I had a bulk tank, so with the cost of installing and security risk I don't think it's worth it for derv. I imagine that with small quantities of red the saving would be minimal.

    Finally got round to watching your half of the video Reg, nice win. You should pitch to the Discovery channel for a show.... Enjoyed it, like others have said, makes a nice change from straight cutting. You did make that cut rather a long way from the ground... Having back problems that day?

    Hard lines mate. Oh to dowse the little scrotes in petrol and drop a match to them. Here's hoping they get caught, and that their identity leaks out through social media.... Any photos of the poor thing post blaze? Clearly had a lot of time and cash put into it....

    Bit of a 'how thick is a piece of string' type question really.... You'll be able to try a few out on the 20th I expect. If you have bought your climbing line by then it will make it more relevant. I've never used Tachyon but I have beeline & OP eye2eye cords you're welcome to try, plus a few lengths of various different cords you can tie up and see if there are any you like.

    I got the 5m, really neat bit of kit. Only used it for base anchoring so far, not had cause or opportunity to try it in any of the other configurations yet....

    :lol: knob.... When I say 'dicey' I mean anything which could render me unconscious from a blow to the head by a swinging lump with only a desk monkey like myself running round on the ground without a clue what to do.... So just very occasional top roped rigging really.... One day I hope to be a super tree action hero like you Rob, if I eat all my weetabix....:lol:

    I usually use the same biner to clip the back up prusik into a snake anchor eye that I do to stop the anchor running back when setting it up, typical that on the occasion i don't eagle eyes spots it! I don't worry about using screw gates here, there's very little movement in the system anyway, but they don't sit against anything. With regards the long legged prusik, presumably that couldn't be used remotely, it'd be between the 8 and the top anchor? The Schwabisch beneath can be taken away from the base with the tail and used to by the rescuer to block the 8 from wherever they're standing, for instance to move a chainsaw hanging beneath the casualty before they get lain on the ground. One issue I have with the whole set up, including the wrench as well really, is it takes comparatively ages to set up. That said, the time it saves on the rescues it can be used for make it worth doing for me....

    For anyone interested, photo i took this morning of my Snake Anchor set up as a lowerable base anchor, soft locked figure 8 backed up with a floating Schwabisch which can be unclipped and taken with the rescuer if necessary so that they can guide a casualty to the ground..... Screw gate 'biners make it easier for 'non-climbers' to get the floating hitch off.... If I was doing something particularly dicey on ddrt I'd set this up to give me lowerable floating top anchor for ground rescue as well....
