  1. I was just wondering where sll the heavy duty tow vehicles have dissapeared too? I've not really paid attention and only just started looking for something thats still available new and capable of towing 3500kg? Are Land Rovers really the last of the bunch? There used to be so many that I seem to remember were rated at 3500kg, troopers, fourtraks, landcruisers, patrols.... I know fuel has gone up and we've all become 'greener' but is no one using or looking for workhorses any longer? I spoke to Land Rover today and was informed that currently (but this may change) that the current defender IS to be fazed out and replaced by that snazzy looking thing we have seen... it's looking likely that it will be rated to tow 2.5T only I currently have a shogun, it's rated to 3T and does a good job but the extra capacity would be nice. Interested to hear the thoughts of others
  2. What makes you think I'm older enough to be your dad? Was it the polaris or the valiant or perhaps both on your wish list? We are finding the polaris to be way more useful than the old quad.
  3. Doobin... I'd be interested to know what grapple you bought? £500 seems quite reasonable for the benefits!
  4. Thanks Eddie. Well fuel wise I totally agree, always surprised at how little it uses. Quite hard to quantify without getting scientific but I would say in the past when we have hired diggers of this size we used fuel in one day that the Takeuchi would take at least 2 days to use.... Often it feels like we get into a third before refuelling. Overall really pleased with it. I would also say that it is without doubt the easiest of diggers to grade with smoothly.
  5. Thanks GH... wife's turn next..... wall down in the kitchen, steel beam in and she gets the open plan kitchen / family room she has been after.... it's only fair!!!!
  6. I can only ditto what Eddie has already said.... we decided to invest in a Takeuchi TB016 late last year having hired one for a few months previous.... fantastic machines!!
  7. It's felt a bit like Christmas this week.... took delivery of some new kit from the guys at Kilworth.... a big applaud to them for actually making it all the way to me during the recent heavy snow.... infact the snow was so bad the tractor came off the trailer and had to tow the truck and trailer the last few miles!! and then if that wasn't enough I px'd my old quadbike for a shiny new polaris ranger diesel ATV.... feeling rather spoilt now Really delighted with both bits of kit!!
  8. We must really love Land Rovers to suffer the pain of driving one!!!
  9. Cheers for that
  10. I have in the past had both SWB and LWB defenders but recently I had a shot of a 2012 SWB hard top.... it felt super tight and the seat didn't seem to go back as far as I remember? Steering wheel touching the belly syndrone!! Please don't suggest surgery or diets.... I like my belly keeps me abs warm The seat goes back far enough in a station wagon for me but not in the hard tops.... are there any ways around this? Any mods? Thanks in advance
  11. :thumbup:Thanks guys.... great advice
  12. I'm looking to buy a rotating laser level kit.... any recommendations?? Ease of use would be important to me Just wondered what you guys use?? Thanks in advance
  13. Very sad to read this sorry... I hope you manage to come to terms with what happened soonest and wish you all the best. Very very sad!!
  14. Didn't really get the differences for the money difference accept the turn facility. Had a chat with GreenMech and pretty much settled on the quad chip now
  15. I used to own one that looked like this when we bought it Happy days!!
  16. Yeah it has needed quite a bit of work, but I'm quite fussy and like things to look nice and be efficient. We will have 2 wood burning stoves (only 1 just now) and a wood burning Esse range in the kitchen. Long term I'll put in a log burning boiler system
  17. Thanks... Here's the house
  18. I'm just looking to buy one.... had a quote from my local dealer. Also considering their new Arborist 150 (26HP version)... quote came in £1875 cheaper than the quad chip 160.
  19. This is the pop up I get now... only started today?? :confused1: Fine on my mac.... this is on my office PC
  20. I see Nene Overland offer a nice conversion..... But I suspect it would be very expensive from them
  21. Apologies if I'm hijacking this post slightly but on the subject of a new Land Rover 130 double cab with a tipping chip box or a 130 single cab with tool boxes and tipping chip box.... Who are the best suppliers of these? Thanks for any info
  22. Cheers guys
  23. Managed to get some more work done on the wood shed today
  24. The most recent new wall... completed
  25. Thanks re the dry stone walls.... I have blockwork walls, just finished another wall.... I'll post a pic in a sec!! Yeah its a polymer drainage channel that is set into the concrete.... I dug too large soakaways.... it's amazing just how much water comes off this size of roof in heavy rain
