  1. I'm looking to buy a quad bike to use on my own ground.... main use will be towing a trailer, spraying and perhaps towing a small salt spreader. Can any suggest what makes/model to consider please? Been looking at quadzilla and polaris so far? Thanks for any advice
  2. Thanks guys..... interesting stuff!
  3. Can anyone tell me please.... Do big trees that have taken a beating in these winds and perhaps become loose in the root area put out new roots or tighten up existing roots to grip better?? Or is it a case of once loosened by the wind the damage is done?? Thank you in advance
  4. grateful for all the advice guys
  5. I did have alpacas and loved having them.... all summer was fine but as the dark nights started one of them became poorly and it may of ended up with me losing her.... luckily I didn't. From the animal welware stand point I don't want to risk animals when I cannot see them for a week at a time. I feel it is one thing to put food out in the dark, make sure they have water etc in the dark but you cannot check there condition properly in the dark. I feel I have made the correct decision for the sake of the alpacas. Pigs would be great but I suspect again I would be unable to give them the proper care they need. Trees and flowers I can leave with a clear conscience!! The orchard is actually part of the plan. I have attached a picture of my alpacas before I moved them to a friends farm :-) The white boy upfront is called Max. Thank you
  6. Thank you for the tips.... I've attached a pic of part of the area.
  7. I have 4 acres of land that are currently split into 4 paddocks. Due to work commitments I cannot keep any livestock as I am kept busy mon – fri during daylights hours. I have considered letting the land to perhaps a horse owner but I think I would prefer to tailor the land to benefit the wildlife more. The area is surrounded by woodland and I have some large ponds in place already. Any ideas of how to best manage these 4 acres (currently in grass) with wildlife in mind and also to avoid cutting grass all summer? Cake and eat it springs to mind… but I thought I would at least get some opinions? Thanks in advance
  8. Thank you guys.... great advice!!
  9. Thanks Sam
  10. I have a lot of trees to plant over the next year and wondered if anyone had used a post hole borer for this purpose? I have a Kubota B3030 compact tractor... Do the post hole borers work well? I have no experience of them. Thanks in advance for any advice
  11. Funny you mention Takeuchi... I have found one for sale local to me and plan to go and see it on Saturday.... it's the model TB016, it's looks almost new
  12. A good point!!
  13. Good to know... thanks for the advice
  14. I have a kubota tractor and agree they are great.... sadly no kubota diggers available at the right price just now, I do have a New Holland/Kubota dealer very close to me and he know's I would have preffered a Kubota This New Holland certainly seems to fit the bill.
  15. Learning quickly here.... sadly the Cat digger is no longer viable as it doesn't have expanding tracks. I'm now considering a New Holland model E18SR in case anyone has any opinions? Thanks in advance
  16. Thanks for the info... PM'd you
  17. I have quite a lot of landscaping to do around my land over the next couple of years and have considered investing in a mini excavtor..... been offered a Cat 301.6C at a very good price but just wondered if anyone had any experience of this particular machine? Also does anyone know if they hold their prices well? I've attached a pic although the one I would be getting is new Thanks in advance
  18. Thanks for all the advice guys
  19. The ponds are a bit away from the intended planting area, thanks
  20. Apologies if I am asking this question in the wrong place? I have 10 acres of ground and becuase of work and time constraints I have been considering planting up some land that is currently paddocks. I no longer have time to keep animals to keep the grass down etc hence the idea of planting. Just wondered what the general thought was re planting up paddocks.... a couple of people have suggected this is a crazy idea? I like the idea of creating more wildlife habitat. I have already planted 1000's of trees all around the perimeter of my land and also created some large ponds with a lot more planting around them.... In the first picture below you can see the area I am thinking of planting further..... remove the field shelter and plant? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
  21. HI, have you looked at the Quad X gear? Quad-X.com Hope it helps in your decision
