  1. i loved the 80s,the music,the films,the big hair,but most of all group b rally cars..............

ps,and the heavy weight boxing era

Yeah agreed , heavyweight boxing had boxers then , and those rally cars ! i had the peugot T16 was it ? on my bedroom wall . Think if i remember right they could out accelerate a formula 1 car. Back to the 261 , got a loan of my mates repaired one for tomorrow , he may get it back in a tesco bag :laugh1:

  2. Me and my father found a bunch of lifting chains in a bag on the side of the road possibility fallen of a wagon lol but thay where well rust me dad chucked them in cement mixer with a solution of sand water and soap few hours looked like new even cleaned up there stamp test tags only couple of years old awesome

Cool , some nice ideas coming along :thumbup1:

  3. Hi guys/gals , I'm looking for a simple way of removing rust from some logging chains . Its not heavy rust just light surface rust. I checked out the old axe thread and ' Xerses ' idea soaking overnight with water and citric acid seems a good one. Anyone know the acid/water ratio ? any other ideas welcome :001_smile:

  4. One thing for sure they knew how to have a good knees up. :thumbup1:

Like any tribal system its based round singing , dancing , colour , fire and some other stuff , lets have some light heartedness in this thread as well .

  5. Horses cant tell you when they are sick, hurt, tired, fed up.You have to work them to get the job done and its not work that they want to do,its work they have been trained to do.

You feed, water and groom them because they are your hobby and business. Why not get your family and freinds to pull logs out of the bush all day like the Horses do,then when you are fed and watered in the evening see how much "love" that feels like.Because you´ll be going out to do it again and again.

Horses were used because there was nothing better, now that there are more humane and efficient methods, don´t attempt to validate your business.

    Give your Horses a choice.

Complete nonsense again , at least your consistant . Horses give out signs all the time to how their feeling . Its just that some tend to ignore them . I would think nothing of driving 500 miles to a show and if i felt something wasnt quite right i would happily put them back in the van and drive home .

You tell the poster not to validate his business when you clearly try to invalidate it ! Get a grip of yourself ...

  6. Nice post Sam .. and good reply Hama.

I agree with corylus though the guy seems a bit of a fruitcake ... ' Pre Celtic religion of the neolithic ' !!! His argument was lost straight away with me . Theres a picture of a celtic symbol beside what looks like a modern picture of a greek god ?? I'm almost going back to the christian thread

  7. :thumbup1: The triple spiral is on my tattoo wishlist

I am not part of any religion, but my favourite is paganism. I like the mythology and symbolism that surrounds it and i love the art and artifacts (wood henges etc) that have come from it.

I have a Kokopelli silver pendant which i wear religiously :sneaky2: when i'm out doing treework .

  8. I'm much more of that influence if anything . North-east of Scotland littered with Pictish and pagan places . I live next to an ancient druid hill and last spring there was a pagan symbol on top which i came across purely by chance ( it was quite a pitifull effort really ) so i decided to outstrip them and i built a 10 foot high wickerman in my yard at the bottom . My sister in law was up visiting at that time and thought i was going mad !! but we had a great time and i even talked her into ' Jumping the Ashes ' She has great photos which i must, must post .

My wife loves her moon gazing hares , and i also believe hares and corvids are very, very special animals ( and horses ) something our ancestors knew . I also look forward to gauging the seasons like our pagan anscestors did by looking out for the constellations , The arrival of Orion in the north means only one thing , cold weather is on the way !! :001_smile:

  9. Rubbish.

Poor Horses having to drag logs in the mud so someone holding a whip can post movies to impress people.

Bet those "Horse Skidders" wished they could be in a Pony Club.A few twitches with a crop must beat having to drag logs.

    Sad.Sad.Sad.

Mike if you think you can force horses into doing that your more deluded than i thought , i've seen things in livery yards that i couldnt possibly post on here .

A few twitches with a crop!!! deary deary me you really do have no idea what goes on. Cruelty ???? Death has brightened up an otherwise dull afternoon .

  10. Sad to see animals exploited like that.Diesel prevents cruelty in my opinion.

Sad to see thousands of horses euthanased every year because they no longer have a role in life. If you want to see cruelty go along to your local country /pony club show where youll see horses and ponies given wanton beatings for rider errors and frustrations .
