  1. In the post by RC a few months back there was also a strop about a metre above the porta wrap to stop the krab hitting the device , it seemed to take some inertia out of the falling piece aswell .
  2. The reason they are so popular are because they were the best by far at one time . They are so comfortable and stretchy for climbing they had no rival ( shocking pfanner stitching era ) . They do not rip easily at all unless the latest ones are of inferior quality to earlier editions or they are getting unnecessary abuse . I just got a pair of type A oregon waipoua's delivered because of the heat and i can tell straight away they will be practically useless for climbing , very light but hardly any stretch .
  3. What diameter rope is that Pedro ? Static or semi-static ? Brave daughter and a great effort ( What size shoe is she ? her feet look huge ! )
  4. That clip was extrordinary ! I never knew of such a thing . Sure i watched a programme on them asian hornets , i think they have a giant variety . Very placid creatures ironically . Great post
  5. That seems a very good piece of advice to me Maj , well communicated also imo
  6. Thats why the guy wants his two removed , he is fed up mowing round about them . Think i'm gonna go for it
  7. Aloe vera gel will take the redness out of the scratches
  8. Thanks Pedro and N.B . I would encourage everyone to have a look at the link put up above , really really informative , cheers fellas
  9. Cant guarantee there'll be no christians about
  10. Felix its interesting you say that , ive got two large dead beech stumps to remove and was thinking of doing just that but not sure of its effectiveness . I'm a bit of a pyro-maniac so it fits into my remit . Seriously though is this a viable course of action
  11. Removing an 8 foot stump with an axe ? You may be scared of heights but you certainly aint scared of hard work
  12. Thanks for the replies guys, i just wanted to double check i wasnt missing something important . The trouble is i'm finding youtube of not much use in showing or explaining this technique . The only one seems to be of an old fella struggling up a small tree and he is out of it by the time he is a decent height..its obvious he isnt doing this on a regular basis . Still it gave me an insight anyway. Thanks again chaps
  13. Hello guys / gals , need advice on exactly what kit i need to start trying RADS . I've got the gri gri 2 and have just purchased 10.5mm semi static rope . I'm assuming i still need a left hand ascender , right foot pantin or foot loop and small pulley. If someone could suggest a detailed set up that would be greatly appreciated , thanks....
  14. Agreed Morten , i used the 550xp for the first time today , it was supposed to come with an 18 but arrived with a 15 . I'm glad it did because the saw i feel is just too small and light for sustained 18 inch work . I cant speak for the 346 but i would be looking at the 60cc for consistent 18 inch work .
  15. Right come on fellas , how many of you checked your tree I.D book to tell the difference between a leyland cypress and a lawson cypress ???
  16. Yeah come on Martin get off that fence !!
  17. 15 inch.. the salesman told me it was coming with an 18 inch bar but i'm not fussed tbh. The pick up is unreal compared with the older saws and much better power to weight . Its a tiny saw i must admit but it packs a mighty punch
  18. Certainly is..
  19. DONT!!!! I've just used my 550xp for the first time taking down a good sized cherry 20 mins ago. I couldnt feel the saw go through the wood , unreal !! The tree could have been made of thread for all it mattered . There the same price but ones the new kid on the block
  20. Dont know if thats the same Blue Oyster Club i was thinking about but i think were on the same boat so to speak ( I'll just say right now that i categorically have not been in said establishment )
  21. The Blue Oyster Club ? :blushing: Thats definetely my taxi....
  22. You forgot the best band Pedroski !!!! I'll get my coat
  23. I've just looked at your original post and it says you want to cut 12-13 inch logs for firewood . What makes you think a 40cc husky will struggle to do this ? Dont get roped into this ' semi pro ' thing meaning it cant cut big timber . If your a beginner the saw will probably outperform you ( dont take that as an insult ) .
  24. Yes , i like to take care of my saws . Autotunes ? .. Lighter , faster , more powerful , better balanced , optimal performance under any conditions .. apart from that i dont know really
  25. Sounds way way too cheap imo. 2 hours seems rushed to me aswell . You dont say how wide it is at the top ? that is the important bit that will determine how long / awkward the job will be .
