There was a poll on here very recently and if my memory serves me right it seemed to peak out at the 40-45 years age . Dropped away quickly after that i think .

Thanks Born2trot,I used to drive horses a few years back too, loved it,but the roads round my way make it a bit of a liability, still got a few mates that drive & trot.
Yep its getting far too dangerous on the roads now , just not worth it , you should get in the woods with them instead !! Too busy with the harley now i suppose
-
Well done Geoff , go for it !!

Its something we all know we have to face sooner or later and certainly when the physio starts seeing more and more of you , it starts becoming a more serious question .

Not living in York might have something to do with Us discussing it, not noticing the application notification signs one would have thought
The tree were already ruined, they should have come down and start again.
They should never have been topped in the first place
Absolutely ...

I've seen programmes where young inuit , certainly around that age were quite proficient with axes but must be appreciated that their livelihood is dependant on this skill .

Trees such as willows, limes, poplars etc respond vigorously to hard cutting like this, though other species would not fare so well.
I know they do... but as Marc said does this mean its right to perform such acts on them ??
The actions here have ruined a beautiful and truely special landmark imo

This is not pollarding .. Its severe topping which is apparentely bad for all trees ??

My wife has been undergoing chemotherapy for the last 6 months. It is not easy. I don't want to sound unkind but I would not want to put a dog through it. It may be best for the dogs sake to have him put down.
Very difficult times.
John
I agree with that .

Yep missed that one
You were supposed to read my mind there !
-
You must have missed the thread on trees being topped so we can get a nice view of the olympic cyclists , was plenty of banter i believe
-
Probably so the ghetto birds can keep an eye on the road over the olympics
:laugh1: you better not start that one again !!
-
Not great but I've seen worse
You kidding ??

My little dog was diagnosed with lymphoma last March . She was fit as a fiddle and full of vitality so it came as a crushing blow because she has never left my side in all the years i've had her .
She is on a course of steroids and is still here over a year later but it is coming to an end soon ... i feel your pain
-
Guys are absolutely right , it will surprise you what you can carry over from previous experiences .
Your still a cheeky sod though i played my first ice hockey game last night at the tender age of 42 !

Hi Kevin , put the ' cart before the horse ' there
and answered your pm before reading the post . Bit clearer now on your plans !
Fantastic you are thinking of horse extraction as i said , so feel free to pm me . I might be on full time contracts shortly so an opportunity to see my work may be coming up .
Guss109 and N.I thankyou for your kind words ...

OMG I was barking up the wrong tree, are they seriously going to chip dangerous dogs? Which chipper is best for that then?

Seemed to be making really heavy weather of it ... wasnt anywhere near as big as he was making out .... mind you all of his statements were exaggerated
