  1. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-47454610 man buys wild animals to illegally "breed" them in a cage. lion mauls said man to death. animals shot dead to get to the dead man - including one in separate cage. mayor's summary: "Today's incident will perhaps finally help to resolve this long-term problem," what's the lesson here?
  2. Any cheap tach recommendations? One in video looks pricey
  3. Amazing saw but after using for a couple of months its in the habit of quite often "running on" when idling (feels a bit like those last few seconds of revving before a saw runs out of fuel). Also needs a blip on the trigger to start most times. Not a pro at tuning but any simple tips/solutions appreciated. Or any online help videos on fixing problem? I can try to film and post a short video clip if that helps.
  4. A lightening-strike oak we "reduced" last summer with help from Mick and his Multione It ended up a bit 2D - "a tale of two halves" The rule of thirds was not observed
  5. I'd be tempted with this if I was quite a bit taller
  6. Sorry, I'm not sure what a gallop is?
  7. Cheers. It would be a mix of the whole lot - timber and foliage. Also wondered if not safe when green - would it then be safe once it's lost moisture?
  8. Of the two trees in 12 years I've walked away from one was a "funny" feeling ash in Richmond. It was due to be reduced but each anchor point I tried felt like a worn spring. At one, I found a trio of holes at the top and put my hand in to test the extent of the assumed decay and got slashed by something. I went to the hospital for tropical diseases that evening as Surrey had records of rabies in the bat population. I was advised to "make sure" it was a bat before the course injections. So back up the foamy tree to the holes: poked a stick in the top one and a damn grey squirrel shot out and proceeded to heckle me out of the tree
  9. Do the two mix safely? Have a customer with horses and was wondering if leylandii wood chip is safe for them?
  10. thats a decent sized box - what is the cubic metre capacity for chip?
  11. No. Not really. This is a shining example of dangerous carelessness, bad decision making and poor work practice. To go back to your original post it confirms nothing about whether they are (qualified and insured) trained professionals or not.
  12. sounds like a decent idea given that it's almost always the skin that fails long before the base, i think i'd go for a pair
  13. If you're not loosing a percentage of your quotes it's possible you may not be charging enough..
  14. Could your mate bag the minis up in small burnable net bags? easier to feed bags to a stove rather than hurling loose bucket loads at the open stove from the middle of the room
  15. My Dad (in Scotland) asked me (in France) if €??? was a reasonable price to take down and remove x2 poplars at his partners mothers house (in Holland). Having no idea (even though I scoped the trees out on Google StreetView) - I said tell granny to get as many quotes as she can be bothered to and rock on. On a related note if anyone's interested in casual game of "price the job" let me know and I'll put up screen grab ?
  16. What is the thread size? And what length you go for? (got an eBay link?) I only just managed to get the ones supplied to bite on the Dragonfly but it bent the plate a bit as it was tightened up so feels a bit of a bodge.
  17. Don't really want to be haunted - could someone summarise what happened
  18. Any tips on fitting these components together? I've cut the broken section of pipe out and trying reattach the grease nipple (using all the old components). But olive won't fit back on the pipe - by a smidge.
  19. Finished this off today to keep the dags in and boar out. 150m of 1.5m stock fencing, chestnut posts, x3 larch 5-bar gates on oak 9x9 posts. Sandstone bedrock under the 2-10" of topsoil
