  1. CS100 18hp Vanguard Briggs & Stratton question: Just did an oil change and spark plug change and machine is not starting?? Weirdly as it turns over, unburnt fuel appears to be leaking through the underside of the exhaust (it must be porous I guess) - is it just flooded? Any tips/suggestions welcome.

  3. Yes I want to stay clear of 4-mix, not really heard good stuff.
  4. Kombi unit: Sthil KM 56 RC-E VS KM 94RC-E Any opinions on which power unit is best as my old one seized? The 56 looks a bit cheap an plasticky..
  5. Anyone found CS100 chipper blades online for better than £80/blade?
  6. Totally happy to post. I thought at one point there was there a company advertising free collection? Can't seem to find them now. Any recommendations for uk wide service?
  7. Any recommendations for the above, ideally near Edinburgh or Stirling..
  8. Capitole de Toulouse Also, spot the arborists [emoji269]
  9. Not bad for circa 1912. Bit of a stub but cuts are nice and clean.
  10. Sorry, forgot to say. South west France
  11. Looking for a bit of ID help. Taken today on an oak, white bracket @1.5m, black bracket in basal root cavity. Size approx 8" across.
  12. Brilliant. That website also has categories for "Tree Killer" and "Tree Deadener"... sadly no average salary info
  13. Work generation is pretty important (don't take it for granted) - I reckon more vital than kit. How you do this is up to you but your background will stand you in good stead. Keeping a business busy (doing well priced jobs) may be harder than any actual tree work you will do. Be clever and good luck.
  14. It reminds me a bit of Aesop's fable The Man, The Boy and the Donkey..
  15. Have you used either - or both boots? Good and bad points? I'm trying to decide which are best as my next pair for climbing and ground. Mainly interested in comfort (and fewer back problems) as they all seem to cost around the same and last roughly the same...
  16. Only problem I can think of is when you then need to sharpen up in the forest with say a 7/32" file the gullet will be a bit cramped?
  17. I was sure there was one size up from the 4.7 mm (making x3 sizes available?) but I'm probably wrong.
  18. Just wondered what disc thickness is the right one for Oregon 75 chain (7/32" 5.5mm)? Can't find the old disc and can't make sense of the online charts.
  19. 1. Did you combo this up with a pantin + some sort of knee ascender (Haas) + chest attachment? 2. How do you (if at all) switch over to DRT once you have reached/set up your top anchor? I want to use my current kit (zigzag + pantin) and add the necessary bits (Haas, RW, tether) to allow SRT access (+ any significant re-ascents) then climb DRT in the canopy.
  20. Is this diamond wheel "safer" in terms of less-toxic dust? And if used to sharpen greenteeth is it the right diameter, thickness and curve to create the correct concave finish?
  21. Kind of related: drove 2 hours earlier this week to measure the height of a tree with the throw line (by tying in slip knot). Got the line out just now to measure the height in order to determine what mewp to hire next week and the knot has been undone...
  22. 4: Get the can of high viz spray marker and calmly walk around the garden turning each dump into a neon beacon - the customer goes red and finds a shovel real quick
