I had high hopes when I got a Safebloc but it got so annoying watching the groundie heaving the rigging rope back up (when used with max friction and the fat rig rope) that is has sat in the rigging bag since. My kingdom for GRCS though - that is a different beast all together..

Luckily I've been able to bring Rusty to work with me most days for the past 8 years. He was a turbo-charged nutter of a wee shite for the first 4-5 years, but he's a bit more zen now and pretty happy chilling in the under the truck or finding a spot under a tree away from the noise.

Just got a Hilux tipper to go with the Quadchip but small problem.. The rear ladder rack is currently right in the line of fire for the chipper and can't really fire over or under efficiently without making a total mess. Any clever engineering mods your can think of to keep the ladder rack but move it out the way for chipping? Perhaps some kind of swing/hinge/folding/ mechanism?

You would want to be tall to feed this all day but apart from that I reckon it looks pretty useful - esp being on a 4x4 (and for mainly rural work)...

P fraxinea sounds more like it - I think the spores are white. Will check tomorrow (as the tree is outside my kitchen window!) I'm now trying to minimise the spread of spores to the other nearby mature ash. Maybe best to completely and carefully remove the brackets and then the tree? Without delay?

Found on the base of a dead Ash tree. Firstly, is it ganoderma? What is the safest way (and time of year) to remove this tree esp with a view to reducing the fungi spreading to the rest of the avenue of mature ash? The customer was previously told "fell and remove it on a hot day midsummer to reduce risk of spores spreading". This advice is new to me..

Hi Small 7 tonne electric hydraulic splitter has just started shuddering and losing power. Oil looked a bit bubbly so changed it. But not sure how to bleed the system? Any ideas?? There is an oil fill hole, a wing-nut "air valve" and a flat head screw that might be used for adjustment..

In the past month both a 261 and 660 blew their sparkplug out - kindly threading the hole. I've got a piston kit going in the 660 and trying a helicoil in the smaller saw. It's mildly annoying and costs a bit, so wondered how to reduce the chances of this happening again? As the cheap sparkplug is always going to win against the softer metal of the expensive engine.

With the more and more common addition of ethanol E10/E5 in petrol, what is the best fuel to use for 2-stoke mixes? 95, 95-E10 or 98? I haven't really had any obvious fuel related problems in the past 12 years but don't mind channing to 98 if that's recommended. I've been trying alkylate premixes in the small Echo 2511t and Eder 1800 winch from new - so far so good. Any thoughts?

Plant willow and harvest as a coppiced crop for biomass. Anecdotally you should be profitable in 6 years. -
