  1. Scruffs comet, comedy and only £40ish!
  2. Hiya mate! I would think twice about going much bigger than a cs100 or a TW 18/100g as you need to keep the weight down to allow a decent amount of capacity for chip. Another alternative machine is an Entec Chippit 18, basically an older version of the TW but can be picked up for a lot less! Also be aware of nose weights of the trailer and your Landy, too much weight and it will be a pig/illegal on the road!
  3. How do you find the DR? What's it like on brambles etc?
  4. Cheers for the advice mate! In the past I have used a honda, not sure what model but it cost around 1k and wasn't really that impressed. I much preferred the Stiga that we used to use!
  5. Ok guy's, thanks for the advice! Etesia here we come!
  6. Hiya, Does anyone use a cylinder mower for domestic grass cutting? I'm in the market for a new mower but can't justify spending a lot as I only have small domestic jobs at the moment. I was wondering if a cylinder mower would be any good? They are available second-hand for reasonable money and I think they might cope with wet grass and clog up less than a rotary, also leaving nice stripes into the bargain! Any thoughts?
  7. Thanks for the advice. Are you going to pay for the new materials and Labour to put it up!? I can't afford to do it for free! Lol!
  8. Not sounding very encouraging for them at the moment then!
  9. Depends if Ab#by gardens are close to you! Lol!
  10. Cheers mate! If you decide to get one best go to radmore and tucker, apparently they do a proper job!
  11. Glad I could help! Lol!
  12. Hiya, I know were not allowed to name and shame but I just wondered if I'm the only one who always seems to get bad customer service!? I recently bought an Echo saw after being fed up with Stihl's silly internet sales policy and reading good things about them on here. I ordered the saw online from a well known garden machinery dealer. The saw turned up and wasn't PDI'd, it was slow to pick up the revs and wouldn't rev out properly. With hindsight I should have sent it back but I had a few jobs lined up so just cracked on with it. Today I popped into my local garden machinery/Stihl dealer and dropped the saw off to be tuned, got a phone call saying that they couldn't do anything with the saw as they didn't have the correct tool to adjust the hi/low jets. I then went to another place, after waiting 10 minutes for him to get off his personal mobile phone he took the saw outside, pulled it over until the recoil mechanism came to the stops a few times. Got it started, revved the bell out of it while it was cold and randomly fiddled with the hi/low jets (while resting it on a steel bin) his conclusion was "this is crap, have you seen the Mitox top handle saws we got?" He then tried to sell me one, I explained that I don't have a climbing ticket...."don't worry about that, we sold 6 this week and only one guy had a ticket...". When I asked what I owed him he took £10 that went straight into his pocket. I wasn't impressed and shouldn't have paid but I just wanted to get away! I won't name the place but it's on Water-me-trout industrial estate, Helston, cornwall. So I still have a saw that ain't running right!
  13. Thanks mate, I have been worrying about it all day! I'm pretty sure that the materials are at fault but it's always nice to have a second opinion! Looks like I might have to end up putting in extra rails, going to be a pain to try and get them in though!
  14. What....her hands?! Lol! It's the usual feather edge that I have used in the past from Jewsons.
  15. Forgot to say, apparently they have warped that bad she can get her hand between them!
  16. I can't remember the thickness, I got them from Jewsons. They were wet when I picked them up as they were stored outside. I put a 6" gravel board at the bottom and the overall height was 1.8m. The boards were cut to 1650mm. I used 3 rails, one at the top, middle and bottom. I put one at the top to try and stop the boards warping......! Lol! I'm not sure what to do, the only thing I can think of is to put in 2 more rails to try and pull the boards back??
  17. Hiya. I recently put up a feather edge fence for a customer. It now seems that the boards are warping and both she and I are not happy! The only thing I can put this down to is that the boards have dried out too quickly in the hot weather we have been getting recently!? Any one else had this issue? Any advice would be appreciated! I'm going to have a word with my supplier as the boards are stored outside and are always wet, this could have contributed to them drying too quick and warping. Apart from that I'm a bit lost on what to do....!
  18. +1 for that option!
  19. Kinda what I thought, but never hurts to have a second opinion. Will prob hire a camon from jewsons.
  20. Cheers for the offer mate but I'm down in cornwall!
  21. Hiya, I have about 300 square meters of turf to lay and need to rotovator/tiller the surface before I can lay the turf. There is a Honda FG110 tiller for sale locally for a very good price, I'm thinking of buying it for small jobs but would it be up to the task of dealing with 300 sq meters of work?
  22. Nice! Whereabouts was that mate?
  23. Looking good Steve!
  24. BCS are pretty good, until you hit a rock but it's the same with any rotovator!
  25. Wonder where this thread will end up.........
