    I pad

Download pages and numbers it's apples version of word. I have a complete risk assessment / job sheet that I fill in on site and email straight to the office in a word format the job spec can then be copied and pasted to a quote and the job sheet printed out ready for the work. If you need drop down boxes try numbers, it's excel in apple form. Though for a drop down box you would need to press the box scroll down and choose the species for example. This would take three touches of the screen, about the same as spelling 'Oak' if you get my drift. Tick boxes are good though and my form is almost entirely made up of them

  12. Hi there. We've done loads of crane jobs and it's a brilliant way to work but bear in mind if your in the tree slinging the branches you need to prove your a competent slinger with qualifications. Sorry to be blunt but as you have not done one before, have you ever seen any body take a tree down with a crane? If not, don't do it, get someone to do it for you as it's a totally different ball game. I can give you some numbers but what area are you in?
  13. Transit tipper. Cheep to buy cheep to repair and there's a reason why so many are around! It will get dented and scratched so don't go mad with the price just get a tidy looking vehicle that will do you for a couple of years because situations may change and you don't want to loose too much money. You will ALWAYS be able to sell a tranny tipper to upgrade! Plywood sides are fine if you build it nicely with care and paint it afterwards. sure you'll get ribbed by people in the trade but the your clients aslong as it looks tidy then they won't know any difference. Sure ally chip boxes with tool lockers look good and yes all my vehicles are custom built but it takes time to get to that stage and is only worth the investment when your building in on a new truck that'll last for the forseable future. Of course if moneys no object then buy a new mog, transit and a 110 tipper then it's all covered
  14. Take them apart first so you can do the job properly and clean out where the sliders are, use a sandpaper flapper wheel on a 4 or 5 inch grinder and make sure you remove any burr's afterwards. Been doing mine for years like this. Takes about an hour and a half to do the job properly. When you put them back together after cleaning put some light machine oil between the cutters.
  15. 7.5 ton iveco 1996 one months mot very good runner no problems chip box and tool locker £1000 + vat don't know how to post pictures on here but can email. Located near nec Birmingham call 07977106671
  16. How much and can you load ?
  17. Theoben have just moved factories and production has just started again. Hang in there and waite for one Ive got two in my collection and there just the best. Did see one on gunstar yesterday though!
  18. I would be interested in recieving you cv. Send it to [email protected] and I will get back to you.
  19. You can sharpen all silky saws, you only have to do the one edge and this can be done with a fine disk on a dremel. I got a dremel just for this and have been sharpening all my employees saws for over a year. You can normally get three sharpens before there no good and no they don't last quiet as long as there not hardened all the way down the tip but i'v got it down to about 3 minuits for a zubat and 5 for an hiyachi. I think I have saved £500 since I started.
  20. I thought about that idea for many years but in the end decided (for me) it wouldn't be fast enough on the road and the crane not big enough, so last year I purchased an 18 ton hook lift lorry with hi ab 145 crane and timber grab. I can now leave hook lift skips on site or in the yard for putting the smaller logs in before lifting it up and shipping them out to the timber merchant. The crane has an 11 meter reach on and will lift 2.5 tons at full reach, 7 tons close in. It has become one of my best investments along with my 26 meter access platform. I also hire this out with operator at very good prices and am located in Meriden near the Nec but will travel any distance, so if anybody is interested give me a call on 07977 106671
  21. Sorry about spelling and grammar, bloody iPhone keys are too small!
  22. Moreton morrel run some good courses there two of the practical lecturers used to work for me one full time and one contracting to me. Like most colages they change the courses regularly. I have a work placement student from there working with me at the moment and he has told me that next year there will be mo funding for nptc units and they will have to pay for them themselves. For each Nptc unit expect it to cost you around £500 per unit (3 days training and one day test). By all means give them a call but there would not be much employment opportunity if you walked out at the end of the year with a ND or even higher if you had no Nptc units as the collages are currently sending hundreds of students out in this position every year. Far better to maybe do a part time course and work for a tree company to fund you certificates. At minimum I would be looking at cs30 cs31 and a basic first aid ticket (£100 set) before you are taken seriously, cs38 would also be a Maxine help when organising teams in the real world. The difficulty with employing trainees is that most clients now require a three man team and if one of the seats in the vehicle is taken up with a trainee that is not earning enough money you become a liability. There are loads of companies in the midlands area and I'm sure you wouldn't have any trouble in gaining experience if properly qualified and enthusiastic. Just try to offer something different to all the other carreer change people out there. Best of luck
  23. try Bob Carmicheal 07801 615988 based in warwickshire but will haul anything round to just about anywhere in the.... universe !
