    Bog oak

Is anyone on here digging up bog oak? What are you doing with it once it's ploughed up? I'd be interested in carving some if I could get hold of some. Cheers
  4. Still very much a work in progress but a little less obscene this time:blushing:
  5. Just wondering if this offer is still on the table? I'm in the category of occasional user and my local tool hire shop may be interested in stocking it. I'll be approaching them about it tomorrow. Cheers, Si
  6. It was a flagging maul, don't try using any other big black rubber thing to lay a patio:001_tongue:
  7. Not sure if this is a common landscaping joke, but many years ago When I worked for a gardening firm I was told of the escapades of this old timer labourer. Built like a brick out house and somewhat lacking in grey matter, they arrived at a job to lay a slabbed patio. After a quick inspection of the back garden the boss says to him "the tools are on the van, go and get the maul" Five minutes later he appears carrying the entire arsenal of tools, several spades, shovels, rakes, bucket of tools and maul! Don't know if this was a wind up but I'd love it to be true.
  8. Ha Ha well you certainly got the ball rolling. Made up you like 'em, just be careful of those ears. You'll have to send us a pic mate.

  10. Had a request today to make some big rustic buttons for some craft projects. I've got a small amount of seasoned branch of different woods but am looking to stock up for next year. I know this kind of thing normally gets chipped but if anyone can set some aside for me that would be great. Anyone in or near Merseyside up for it? Will have anything really, from 1" to 4" in any wood, but if poss. woods with good colour ie sumach, laburnum or woods that smell great ie ceder, pine. Thanks in advance, Si
  11. A little side by side shotgun in yew.
