  3. How big is it? Are you planning to do a normal frame from it ? ie four lengths mitred together or keep it as a solid block and remove the centre to house the picture? It would dry quicker if you get it close to the finished article first imo.
  4. I'd have to agree with arbmark, but if the frame is small enough to squeeze into your microwave you might still get it done for chrimbo. There's a recent thread on here about force drying in the microwave.
  5. The owl's a beauty mate:thumbup: Where's that at?
  6. Steve is the fee upfront? What about charging the fee on result of each sale. That way it's free to advertise (with pics being compulsory) but if you sell and that's the idea:001_rolleyes: you pay the fee. Just a thought Si
  7. Sounds great, get some pics uploaded when they're all done please:001_smile: Love this kind of stuff.
  8. Nice and tidy joins:thumbup: Will you be back to see the finished piece?
  9. Two more from the other day.
  10. Cheers Rob, Ha Ha are those facial features for real? A proper cheeky wood spirit!
  11. Cracking shot, and great find. I'll have it as a reference shot if that's ok:biggrin:
  12. I can't work out how to link another thread to this but there's some invaluable info on "monthly arb contest" thread about half way down the latest carving page. Some great insights from Tommy treecarver.
  13. Hi all, I've been propositioned to make some rustic bread boards for my local artisan baker, which could be sold on from the shop for Christmas. In return for my efforts I'll get a regular supply of free breads. I was thinking of some boards wide enough to rip down the middle so that 1 of the 4 edges is waney. The baker would like something with a bit of character to the grain also. Well to get to the point, I'll need seasoned boards about 1" thick I guess and maybe 18" plus wide. Is there anyone fairly local to me on here who has something to fit the bill? Thanks in advance, Si
  14. The priest is lovely mate, and your owls are definitely evolving:thumbup1: What are you doing for the eyes? Eyes can be tricky, a way around them and something I often do myself is to carve them asleep.
  15. Little workout on the hand tools is better than the gym any day:thumbup1:
  16. This is not going to please everyone:001_tongue:
  17. Some tidy work there mate:thumbup: Glad you joined us btw:001_smile:
  18. This may have cropped before, it's from a while ago.Horse gets head stuck in tree - Telegraph
  19. If you have photoshop you can always create a soft blur around the object in focus. There's lots of 'walk throughs' to help you, just do a google search.
  20. That's a cracking tree:thumbup: Where is it Rob? Found this online today:001_smile:http://www.ymmac.org/images/tree_man2.jpg
  21. Here's one of my big fat head, oh and a carving too:001_smile: About 2hrs into it so far and itching to get back to it.
  22. Family heirloom for the future maybe:001_smile: Be nice to see a vid of it rocking.
  23. Disabled the skype app like peckerwoo suggested and seems ok now. Cheers Si
  24. Cheers Steve, it's sorted now:thumbup:
  25. I've cleared my history, the dts is set on auto if this doesn't work I'll try tab on always.
