  1. I think for occasional use the budget one would be fine. Not the same build quality as the real Alaskans mind. Whichever you go for get the biggest you can otherwise you will kick yourself when you find its too small for that FAT log. Need to remember you lose 6" of bar length in a mill. 5. Little two seater in spruce. Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. Is it still on the mill? Could possibly be jam packed with fine sawdust around clutch? Chain may have shrunk on cooling/ running chain too tight? Try revving it without bar on. If none of the above return to dealer 👍 Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app

  9. I suspect price maybe a factor, if you're willing to do the mod yourself it could work out a lot cheaper than buying a 372 off the shelf. Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app

  14. A very forgiving wood for traditional edge tools, not carved any with saws. As already said, interior use only really. Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. Russ, if I were you I'd be considering a 60cc category saw. Not much more weight than 50 cc and would give you a broader spectrum. If you get a 50cc it won't be long before you're wanting another, bigger saw. Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. Nice! Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. Hey Russ I've been wondering where you've been lately. My two pence worth, the first pic of the feather detail. Instead of cutting in at 90° to the log, undercut at about 30° so you get an overlay giving the impression the feathers are lying on top of each other. Also define wings and layer the wing tip feathers. Hope that all makes sense. Always best to study photos of your subject matter to understand form rather than guess, I speak from experience 😜 Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. A Quarter tip carving bar can run both 1/4 chain and 3/8 lo pro. If your saw is already set up with a 3/8 lo pro sprocket you will only need to buy a loop of lo pro chain. Also worth noting, carving bars need to be run with a slack chain, you'll burn the tip if you run a snug chain 👍 Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. It's probably only done about a week's work the whole time I've had it. Cheers, Si Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app
  20. I've got a used 8" quarter tip Cannon carving bar if you're interested. That will run 3/8 lo pro. Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app

  24. Cheers bud Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. Cheers Jmzey, it certainly took longer to carve. It was just one of those things, they didn't have many photos and what they had were small and low resolution. Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app
