1. Bought a bulldog mini hitch lock for chipper and cant get it to fit on! The triangle piece is too near the handle of the hitch so wont fit over it. Anyone know of a hitchlock that will fit the tw125?
2. Anyone know if i would be able to move on my own a 7 ton perol splitter into the back of a berlingo type van on my own? It is 125 kg. Was thinking i might be able to pivot it on the edge of the back and lift the bottom up and slide as im lifting sort of thing... in theory it could work but wouldnt know unless i tried. Anyone tried this?
3. buying wheel clamps in advance of getting it, anyone know? cheers
4. What about tow hitch ball type locks?
5. buying my first chipper which im storing in a shed, any advice on the most secure chain and padlock to get so i can secure it to the frame of the shed? cheers
6. thanks for the tips, how do you check the rotor bearings, is it from the noise when running? and what is the anvil exactly? cheers
7. 8100 inc vat for 08 tw125? am looking to buy my first chipper.. what things should i look out for when viewing? its from a timberwolf dealer so they should be pretty straight up? or not? Whats the best way to tell how much work they have done if there is no hour clock? cheers

sawdust.

epic! how do you do that?!
9. 9500 plus vat is the standard price they will say but i was after the price that it might be possible to haggle them down to.. anyone done that?
10. So what sort of price can you get a new one of these for?
11. Good points chaps! No point wasting my hard earned on this i now think.
12. Been looking at getting one of these. They have the honda gx690 engine which is slightly better output than what the tw125 has so should be a bit better in theory. Whats the build quality like on these? Anyone here own or used one?
13. I am using this chipper for a job for a couple of weeks. It is smoking white smoke out the exhaust when at full revs and when not chipping for about 30 secs. It also feels a little slow pulling stuff through compared to timberwolfs and jensens of similar size engine that I have used before. It has done very little use only 30 hours so thought it a little strange. Any ideas as to what is wrong with it? I have very little knowledge on chippers.
14. I have a 550xp which is under 6 months old from fr jones. It has done under 50 hours use and the brake band has broken. I thought this was covered under warranty as i know of people that have had brake bands sent to them after they have broken as the saw is under 6 months old from new. Just rang fr jones up and they are saying that they dont replace brake bands anymore as brake bands are now under consumable items.. bit annoying. Are other retailers saying the same thing now? It doesnt sound right to me.
15. well for over 60 squid id expect it to keep me dry in a bit of drizzle but i was soaking and cold. the one i got was the stein evolution 2 which makes it sound advanced in some way but my mates £15 cheapo no brand jacket kept him dryer than mine!
16. Just had a stein jacket delivered super quick from fr jones, tried it out a couple of times and am not impressed at all! Leaking in from the sides at arm pit zip area, was out for about 45 mins in drizzle/rain when i started getting cold/damp feeling on my sides! There must be something wrong with it or they are just all rubbish, anyone else had same problem with this coat?
17.
Hi. thanks for the comment on the thread I wrote. Had not considered the weight really. Do you think you could move the ls65 splitter into the back of a berlingo van? They are pretty low to the ground. Was going to get the bigger splitter but that is just under 200kg! and im never going to move that up into the van, 125kg seems a bit more achievable. the 7 ton version cant be much less than the 10 do you think? Cheers

18. Thanks for the helpful comments. Its just getting some confidence that the price I charge isnt me just making up a number and that it has a reasonable logic behind it. It still sounds a bit expensive but think I will go with it
19. Yeah its a bit of a funny one as buying in seasoned split firewood and me taking away their tree wood would mean cheaper, ready to burn firewood for them. Maybe if I could split 4cm3 a day it would start to make financial sense for them... but yeah I take onboard that I still have to make a living plus bit of profit and maintenance fuel repair costs so thinking around the £200 mark?
20. Really? I thought that sort of price would be a firewood processor and operator for the day?
21. Thinking of buying a log splitter (lawnflite ls80p possibly) as a few customers want their logs split and doing it by axe is getting tiresome! What would you charge a day splitting logs with a log splitter?
