  1. Got my saw back from my repair guy and he changed the decompression button for a bolt as i dont find the 357 at all hard to pull to get started. Ive taken some photos of the piston and here they are, it seems fine to me what do your experienced eyes think?
  2. thanks for your replies and your time guys. Do you think you can hazard a guess to what it would take to repair?
  3. given back to my repair man and he is going to change the seals on the crank as he thinks that might be the reason and also going to change the decompression button for a bolt. will wait and see...
  4. Does anyone know what size the bolts are on the exhaust are, the ones where the deep holes are. My 4mm allen key doesnt seem to do anything to it. I dont have a 5mm is this the one i need?
  5. 372xp or save £100 odd quid and get a 365
  6. so you think it sounds pretty serious? where can i get a compression gauge from?
  7. everything apart from a few standards, the straightest with nice potential which are to be left.
  8. Ive got a woodland owner of a 20 acre broadleave wood and he would like it managed. I said I would coppice 1 acre a year in exchange for the wood. I dont have any machines. Lots of alder, birch, hazel, willow, bit of ash, oak. Would you do it for the outcome of converting the wood into firewood and selling not this winter but next?
  9. Im not sure if the pot is an OEM one, think it was from Italy and is nickel plated or plated with something, it wasnt the dirt cheap one the next one up I seem to remember. I never push the decomp in, always leave it out. The saw i dont think has automatic decomp, but to be honest not totally sure what this is. Its a 2010 model. Ive not taken the exhaust off, i may do that now. So if its a sticking piston ring is this a serious thing? Would it benefit from a new ring? Thanks for your reply spud
  10. did mine earlier this year, they allow a calculator and its a piece of piss!
  11. Hello, About 3 months ago I had the pot and piston replaced on my 357xp after the last one went kaboom. It works absolutely great now apart from on 2 occasions when ive been using it around about the middle of the day I've gone to pull the pull cord and it feels like there is zero resistance(like the is no compression at all). This is soon resolved after pulling on the pull cord about 10 times and the compression feeling seems to come slowly back after each pull. Its only happened on 2 occasions in the last 3 odd months but ive not been using it every day at all, maybe 2 or 3 days a week. Just wondered if anyone else has any ideas on this or happens to anyone else. Im a bit worried that it might just brake at some point randomly half way through the day which would be annoying! got back up saws but i love the way my 357 cuts over everything else! thanks
  12. looks like a really tidy job, but possibly a bit on the small side? Always better to have a bit of free room in the store than crammed and nowhere else to put split wood out of the rain..
  13. Do you know the going rate in your area? is it priced per ft?
  14. Whats the going rate for hardwood poles of 3m length around 5 or 6 inch diameter? Ive got oak and its also been peeled, which i guess adds value to it but not sure how much. Anyone have any knowledge or experience they can share?
  15. im afraid that is a ms201 the new version of the ms200. trying to avoid getting one of those..
  16. So is there any places that have any left over still? ive found one site but the price is almost 700 quid! STIHL MS 200 T Arborist Chainsaw 35cm (14") anyone know anyone that is selling it for a reasonable price new?
  17. them planks coming off look pretty good, what is the mobile saw mill you use? looks like fun, i might have a play around, are they on ebay?
  18. Ive just put my old van on ebay if anyone is interested. tax and mot eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
  19. Why not just start off with reasonable pay. its a pain to have to negotiate something which you should be getting. Not something id feel comfortable doing when just starting to talk to a prospective employer, you will probably get someone happy to work on that money who can do the job well but good luck keeping him/her
  20. Hi people, Work has gone a bit thin on the ground in the last week for me so putting the feelers out again. I've been doing forestry and arb for the past couple of years.
