  1. Had 2 willow pollards and a dog sh*t conifer hedge reduction in the rain today, greeeeaaaaat! Called in at Gustharts after work to get 3 Harkie Smocks but I found them really quite awful so needless to say I didn't by them, I think we're over the worst of the bad weather anyway The turntable on the Vermeer is soooooooooooooooo handy
  2. He has a tennant in the house that the tree is blocking and he is bothered about saving maybe £100 Sometimes not getting jobs for that sort of client is a blessing as if the work did come your way they tend to be a pain in the chuffer! To say the least...
  3. Just checked nd its £99 delivered! That is a good price
  4. Hey Paul, ive been looking for this exact item and youve got a good price there although whats thw delivery on it?
  5. They are getting 2 more quotes so ill find out if ive got it tomorrow, from their urgency on the phone this morning they gave the impression i had the job... If id known that id have gone up after work and not cut todays job short which had a knock on affect making us late for the afternoons job.
  6. Had an emergency job to attend to today, well so I thought! Had a phone call saying there is a tree down over a driveway and could i go up and clear it? Yes no problem, so told the lads, we finished off where we were working and headed up. 20 min drive and this is what we found... After an inspection the beech that had fallen was riddled with hunny fungus and the base of the tree was totally shot, so much so that we could grab handfull after handfull of mush which was once solid timber! When the tree came down it had uprooted a yew and a semi mature oak too. We then went on to inspect the rest of the small woodland that was made up of mostly mature 60-120 ft beech, a good amount of yew and a hand full of pine. One pine was uprooted and hung up, another dead beech was uprooted and hung up and 6 or so big big beech with ganoderma.
  7. Its not as bad as i sometimes make out although in past experiences in life i have found if you dont buy new it will end up costing me more in the long term I always strive to get the best that i can afford or should i say more than i can afford. Ive not paid myself a wage from the business this year at all I sometimes think if i dont pay myself a wage what is the point but Arb is my hobby and my obsession, i am not planning on paying myself a huge wage next year either, i will be concentrating on paying off the Bang Tidy and the Vermeer.
  8. ooo paul will like the sound of that lol, think he might scare young Connor though!!
  9. I didnt buy the orange one in the end, i couldnt bring myself to part with my money for something that wasnt perfect
  10. You are all rite regarding the state of this pressure washer, the cracks and nuts not being symmetrical has nearly pushed me over the edge thinking about it. I have had endless sleepless nights worrying about it so today I ordered a brand new one.... Phew that was a close one!
  11. No way, your dead rite in what you say matey
  12. Well spotted Hawk Eye!
  13. Very true Hodge!
  14. Jesus! My Vermeer was £24500! And it would chip a 150!!
  15. I've never looked into tracked machines but Graham at Orange Plant recently to me if your looking at a used 190 there will be around £3k price increase if you go tracked??? If those prices you quoted are correct Mark I would buy a road tow and have it converted for far cheaper than £13k Are those prices current? It is mushroom season
  16. Found this mate and thought of you.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZM-72_Hr0k&sns=em
  17. My first and second chipper were both Timberwolf 190's, both road tow but if you NEED a tracked machine I dont think youd go far wrong with a tracked 150 All of this said it really depends on your work, if youve used Jensens and you like them why not stick with what you know. As said before it is very handy to have a local dealer on hand with parts etc... Good luck with whatever you choose... By the way ld look at the vermeer too..... Not sure why though
  18. Ive not seen all of your work Ian but what I have seen is amazing and think you have just raised the bar with this one!!
  19. Had a bloody close shave today, I put the Iveco in for a service on Friday night on the understnding it would be ready for me to collect before lunch time Sunday. I went down at 11am Today and walked into the office for my keys and was told...... There had been 2 mechanics working night shift Sat night, during the night at some point 2 blokes (travellers) climbed the fence and went straight into the office where all the keys are kept for the vehicles, they took them all! One of the mechanics had gone in to wash his hands and saw them walking past a window so he phoned the police. They were caught down the road. They had burried a load of keys to be picked up later but the sniffer dogs got them first, all wagons with hi-abs had been opened and the keys put in the ignition to be stollen later that night. I was thinking for fu*ks sake this is really gona stuff my week up by having to have new locks and ignition fitted!! The mechanic who had done my service had not put my keys on the board as he should have, he had left them in his overalls pocket! No way how lucky am I???!!!
  20. Looking good!
  21. Had a good poke about and very soft, feels very spunky under the bark around the area of fruiting too

  25. This thread is not really to promote my business, rather to give an insight to how I do things. Some may agree some may disagree, write or wrong it's how I do it. I do take the rough big time like my marriage brake down that I am going threw at the moment but I channel my energy into positive things. I invest back into the business so much of the profit which in turn strengthens things and allows the business to have great kit. It also allows me to keep hopefully stick my neck out and been seen by customers over the competition. If you surround yourself with positive people and be positive about all you do the rest falls into place Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor
