  3. Sounds good, think I might sign up and have a go
  4. Only one I could find of me up a tree, like many of you I normally take the pictures
  5. My mum gets this problem. An arm full of logs brings in a couple of wasps and you only know they are there when they warm up and start walking across the carpet. Into the fire they go, little buggers
  6. I like the machete and scythe idea, I think a machine would be to good at it's job and destroy everything. The pots to mark the regen is good aswell. Not sure about getting an aristocrat and his chums in there, maybe just the tree guards will do.
  7. Cheers woodyguy, I will grab some of those. Thanks for the advice Austin spanners, I want to spend as much time in there as possible so what an excuse
  8. Much of the work I have done thus far has been removing dead and dangerous trees, now that is mostly done I will be concentrating on the reduction of ground cover. I'm sure that once I get in to this I will find some good seedlings that I can protect. How is a good and cost effective tree guard supplier? I must say I'm loving spending time in the wood, its great fun and very satisfying work. Thanks for the advice sofar.
  9. Sheesh man that looks narly . A few choice words after that hay. Hope you heal fast mate
  10. Thanks for the replies. The area where the conifers are is on the perimeter edge of the wood, it is south facing and the area is fairly dry most of the year. The wood borders farmland so the border is not sheltered or shaded I want the replacements to serve as a wind break and use full to wildlife rather than timber The wood currently is comprised of a mix of oak, silver birch, black pop, hazel, goat willow, wild cherry and sycamore. I haven't seen a huge amount of seedlings coming through, and the floor is very dense with fern and bramble.
  11. So I'm in the process of actively managing a 47 acre woodland. The wood has not been managed before so as you can imagine it's not great. Along one border edge there is a row of conifers that I want to fell out and replace with a native. So what would suit this border location? Something that would be a good screen and fairly fast grower?
  12. Coming home to a big box that contains lots of nice new kit is always good but when you have won the kit there is nothing better, amazing! Many thanks to Mark and Barry from skyland. I cant wait to try it all out.
  13. Woo hoooo I won, this is amazing. I want to say a huge thank you to both mark and Barry fot the opportunity.
  14. I rollered my caddy matt black it it looked wicked, also if you do it yourself you don't worrie as much about dinging it as you can just roll it again
  15. Great looking site, prices along with p&p costs are great. You are the closest arb store to me now, so i look forward to coming in to say hi.

  19. The shock obsticle sounds nasty and the guy breaking his leg is bloody nasty
  20. 2hrs sounds good. I kind of wish I had entered this one now rather than the the one later in the year. Oh well more training time I suppose.
  21. My disco cooked up on the m56 on Sunday. I was on the hard shoulder so fairly dangerous and also had the wife and kids with me. I phoned the aa who said you are classed as hi risk so we will be with you in under an hour (not that high risk then) time ticked to 55 minutes got a call to say they will be sending a truck from a local garage and they will be there in 40 minutes (closer to 55) we where recovered to the nearest servises which was limb I think, we where then dumped in the coach parking section and told to wait for an aa patrol an to come look at it. Another 35 minutes later he turned up did some tests hoped up with water and then followed me home I suppose you could say if I wasn't in the aa or similar I could have been there a hell of a lot longer however I do think they need to tighten up on there stated times
  22. The first one I ordered never arrived, then they sent another and that got here pretty quick
