    The diesel is a BMW engine and rather good, mine has done over 230k now with only minor issues. The first and most important thing to check is the "plenum chamber" On the drivers side, take the little grill off near the windscreen that hides the brake fluid reservoir. Look down the void towards where you'd expect the exhaust to run and watch for any signs of water. The chamber holds the main ECU and it's drain-holes are known to get blocked with leaves etc causing a drowned ECU=dead car. If there's any moisture, you need to clear the drain holes. (Googling or looking on the dedicated 75 forums will give you a step-by-step) You cannot change the light switch easily as it's part of the cars security system and matched to the keys, main ECU, BCU, and immobiliser...

    It is on a similar base to that that in the Netherlands it is effectively compulsory for employers to supply their employees with alkalyte fuel. It's quite odd that HSE allow people to supply their employees with, and to be exposed to these known harmful substances without any form of protection whilst there is more than one real alternative available...

    I know capping it off would be really stupid.... How do you know your boiler is still ok after running it disconnected for two years? Do you pressure test it regularly? I run a couple of Rayburn cookers with back boilers disconnected but have no intention of using them in the future. This hunter however has so much water-heating capacity that I don't want to risk ruining it as it may come in handy some time.

    Cheers Pete :thumbsup: How are you doing? Our yurt is 24ft, built very tall and not insulated. I need it to be acceptably warm ish for the odd weekend throughout winter for courses.

    Just had a look, the sides and back are the back-boiler. They're not a separate inset type but an integral part of the stove....

    Hi guys, I bought a second hand hunter herald 14 last week. I'd not seen it or any pictures and when I went to collect it I found it has a wraparound boiler. I don't need the boiler right now and was wondering about the best way not to ruin it so I could plumb it in at a later date. I thought about filling it with dry sand or vermiculite? It looks quite hard to remove and I'm on a very tight budget. It's to go in a yurt so no worrying about building regs or stuff like that.

    True, I was referring to the fact that even though he'd "earned" this money (presumably) without paying tax, as long as he's a uk tax payer he's eligible for gift aid. (As it seems unlikely that he'd have claimed gift aid to a total of his tax bill if he doesn't know what gift aids is or how it works?)

    Hmm, If you're a uk tax payer, your donation is eligible for "gift aid". Which is where the charity receives a little more money. The government pays the charity the money they'd have received in tax when you earned it. Wether or not you actually paid income tax over the exact money you donated isn't relevant. Is the only explanation I can think of? Great effort Predator

    Well, nearly ready, been packing and sorting all our kit for the support boat. Got a handheld GPS for tracking measuring and navigating (but mainly for the love of gadgetry... Got a bag of food to last a week (me and my brother could eat a fair bit..) Got a barrel of dry clothes for swimmer and rowers. Got looooaaaads of other stuff but most importantly....... Got Viking helmet-hats for me and my brother:thumbup: Attached is a pic from earlier from the press fotoshoot thingie, apologies for the quality (or lack thereof...) I'll try and keep this updated as the day goes by tomorrow, we're off at 8.

    Good point, my wifey goes by the name of Hannah Thorogood:thumbup: but any donations go to the same charity. There is a bit of friendly rivalry going on about who can collect the most with father in-law firmly heading the race through some dodgy links with billionaire Arab business men over which he has just enough leverage to sqeeuze out a grand or two...
