  1. Thanks for your advice all. Cheers
  2. Yeah, the piston is defo for the bin but was hoping the cylinder was salvageable !
  3. I picked this second hand saw a while back sold with minor issues so thought I'd give it a punt. Finally got round to totally stripping it today and found that it has had a exhaust side seizure. The piston/ring is toast. No dramas My questions are can the cyclinder be saved or is it time for the bin. I've just got a new Dolmar 420 from 'Shavey' so I don't need it but would like to keep this Echo if it economically viable. But don't want to throw good money after bad. What do you think. Can it the cyclinder be honed out or are they plated internally and honing a no no?
  4. A new stove always smells for about 3 burns then stops but you are tight on you proximity to the walls, your a bit close!

<p>Wow, got some nice bikes there!</p>

<p>That new V-strom has the old Suzuki TL 1000 engine. That was a stonking torque monster :-)</p>

<p>Mate of mine also has one of the new V-stroms but had a minor glitch on the low speed fueling, the engine revs tried to die and stall on a closed throttle.</p>

<p>Went back to Suzuki a couple of times and a week or so Suzuki put a new ECU on it. He said it's fantastic now and Suzuki are rolling out new ECU's for any effected bikes. </p>

<p>Be safe and stay shiny side up mate.</p>

    <p>Hi Geoff.</p>

<p>Have Pm Spud and he's given me a few more thing to check on my little Echo and cost to service it. It may not be worth spending loads on it as just brought a Dolmar 420 from 'Shavey' as a replacement, though I do like the CS -350!</p>

<p>Yes still riding bikes, did 3500 miles across Europe in 3 weeks this year, as present to myself for reaching the ripe old age of 50;-). </p>

<p>Mind you my old bones don't like spending 8 hours a day in the saddle anymore ha ha. </p>

<p>Still have my BMW R1200GSA which is a big old girl !!!! </p>

    <p>What you riding now Geoff? Didn't you buy a Harley ? </p>

<p>Sorry to bother you Geoff but I've seen from your posts that you are a bit of an Echo saw fan. From memory you did a bit of work for me several years ago and I think you are from near this neck of the woods. I'm in Felsted Essex.</p>

<p>Could you point me in the direction or recommend someone in this area to service my sick chainsaw a Echo CS-350WES. I'm normally good with small engines but been trying for days a have to admit defeat. So time to give it to a pro.</p>

    <p>Many thanks.</p>

  9. Cheers spud. Will try that in the morning, think it's the coil pack but worth a double check. Found a pattern coil on eBay so one way or another I'll get it sorted. Thanks for you help.
  10. Hi all. My small Echo has lost its spark. Have eliminated the spark plug but think it's the coil. Have shoved my fingers on the HT lead and get no shock when I pull the starter so pretty sure I'm right. 3 questions 1. Is there a more scientific method of testing the coil pack. 2. Anyone breaking a CS series Echo chainsaw that they want to sell the coil from? 3. Any others theories or suggestions, am I missing anything obvious? Thanks in advance for your help!
  11. One before I started.
  12. Can only seem to post one piccy at a time.
  13. Hi all. Just finished erecting a lovely chunky green oak porch, on my friends self build house. Unfortunately I can't claim to machining up the timber as I just don't have the time. All erected in just over two days on my own, with no lifting gear and all fixed with seasoned oak pegs dipped in teak oil and driven into the mortise and tenon joints. Just needs to be bleached with acid to get all the stains out then 2 coats of oil to finish. First one I've done on my own so a bit chuffed with it. Hope you like it.
  14. Best Christmas tip! Get the sprouts on now, should be just done by the big day! (Sorry, I get my coat)😂
  15. Thanks for the advice. Nice collection of ornaments you have there then. 😀
  16. As per the title! Komatsu 14" top handle saw. G300ts Any one had any experience with theses small saws. I've been offered on fairly cheap but have no experience with them! Opinions please.
  17. Just google a 'down draft illiminator cowl' come in various guises, some more expensive than others. The clay ones are only £50ish but get the right one for a solid fuel appliance. Your problem will be solved.
  18. I've a ford ranger double cab on an 05 plate. Pulls like a train but only a five speed box so can get a bit juicy if doing long distances at motorway speeds! They are re badged Mazda's B2500, bullit proof and spares are reasonable. Cheers
  19. I'm near Stansted Airport and could take the rings. Are they Green or seasoned?

  21. Hi all. Thanks for all your input, ended up buying the Dolmar 420 with the 15" bar from Shavey, plus an additional 18" Sugi-hara bar & chain just to make sure I can get as much out of the saw as possible. Look forward to it arriving and getting it run in so I can whip the at out of the exhaust. ;-) Thanks again all.
  22. I'm on route too. Mines the Blue ford ranger with ladders on the back. Jez, (Dirtybiker).
  23. Yes guys, no problem. On my way up to Ickworth for the show now but will post some bits re the self build etc later when I get home. Jez
