  1. Its home made ,,, made it up so i could cut wide slabs where the tree fell without moving the trunk (just level the track up ) and its also usefull for breaking down big logs into smaller sections for bandmilll,,,, i have a nearly finnished frame sat in the shed that can take up to a 42 inch bar,, just needs a new home built in a similar way tothe pro cut sawmills in australia
  2. hello,, Had it a couple of years now,, somebody else spent the money to get it how it is,, a 560 would be great but being honest i think the 360 is idealsize for an old tractor like this,,, roof cranes do put alot of stress on rear axle,, ive got a seal gone in the rear axle of mine,, the whole crane and frame needs to come off to gain access to remove the rear trumpet (axle end section),, my tractor mechanic mate says im best to leave it till it gets worse ,,itll get new bearing and any other wearing part replaced when the seals do get replaced
  3. Hello,,, yes its a lumbermate,,, mark 4 model ,,model before the 2000 i think ,, it now runs on a home made trailer that my big chainsaw mill can also run on ,, The last 2 pictures are of a table i just finnished for a customer ,, the slab could be the piece in my last post that was cut with my homemade alasken type mill with rollers
  4. Hello,, a few pictures of sawmilling ,,, mostly chainsaw milling with husky 3120 with 60 inch bar ,,, more pictures to follow with other sawmills
  5. Ford 7610 E (Industrial hence orange colour )..year 1987 botex 360 crane igland double drum winch full under body protection and front blade ,,by jas wilsons ,, Great for me as i can winch over trees with it,, skid big trees,, extract with crane ,, load and unload sawmill ,, i also use it for stacking and stickering large dining table size pieces of timber ,,
  6. Milling damp wood isnt a problem,,, but the wood drying out to fast afterwards can be ,, if the summer does start dont let the sun shine on the sawn faces of boards or else itll helpthem start cracking ,,, i normaly use thinner stickers between boards when the timber is milled during the summer to slow down the drying ,, and put your sticked piles under cover or in a shed ,,,
  7. Hello arbwork,,, i cant wait to get sawing some big logs like that oak ,, ive got a few big elms and spalted beech to do,and ive got work to do at a softwood sawmill cutting hardwoods that there sawmill cant handle , been using 3120 husky with 60 inch bar for big tree slabing and lumbermate for smaller stuff,,hoping the trekka will be alot quicker (once set up),, a couple of questions ,,, what oil pressure does your saw run at ???? the gauge isnt working on mine (i will get it sorted ),, ive looked for grease points and can only see nipples on the roller guides , doyou know of any more ???,,,, i will get in touch with autotrek but ive heard there not to help full for people like me who have got saws else where,,i could be wrong saying that but its what ive heard a couple of time from people,, i here what you say about metal,, my old blades used to cost about £25,not alot compred to tipped blades at 125 and over ,,, i lifted a burry ash log on mill ready to mill when i get time ,then noticed lump of wire sticking out of side,, i remember felling it and hope that theres only the one piece as its about 3 1/2 foot up ,, ill be using that blunt blade till the log is finnished graham
  8. I sell alot of elm timber,,, its all about leaving it in longer lengths so when it does get to a usable dryness the ends can be cut off and be left with something usable,,, the big logs in the picture are to short to be usable,, the other bits will have a good value when dry in years to come if theres not much drying degrade ,paint or wax the ends , looking at the pictures its full of sap so is ready to crack when the weather get hotter ,, elm is only going to go up in price,, the woodturners know its going to get harder to get hold of and there is people willing to pay good money for the good coloured stuff,, if youve got space to store it , its well worth keeping,, as for woodturners,,,,,,, seen them all ,,some great people and others that want to spend hours pulling the firewood pile to pieces looking for THAT OUT OF THIS WORLD PIECE OF WOOD I FOUND IN A PILE OF FIREWOOD ,, problem is i aint got time to stand around while the do it,,,
  9. Got it up and running this morning , but never realised its a 2 man saw ,i managed a couple of small logs myself but i think it would be ideal for mounting in a wheeled carriage as lumbermate sawmills ,i can see the attachment points (can see it in my head ). Couple of leaks need sorting and then its available for hire in southern Scotland and northern England,,,
  10. hello there,, seen you message about being down south and travelling backup, good idea tryin to recoop some money, i won the trekkasaw sawmill that was on ebay, you know the one , saws in oxfordshire ox73jh and im in scottish borders td9 7lz,, ive still to get any contact from seller after auction ,,, i had a few emails before auction ended and trailer power pack would be best put on a trailer or in back of transit and you can see from pictures there willbe sawhead , 2 end sections and and 2 rails approx 20 foot in length ,,and probs2 bed bunks,, any idea of a price ,, cheers graham

  11. ive tried lots of different things on outdoor tables and benches that are made from green or part dried timber ,, i think the problem is the moisture coming out of the wood pushes coating off the surface,, a customer of mine uses rubio monocoat for indoor items,it will only take one coat as it seals the surface and goes on like oil , they also sell a product for outdoor use ,, its not cheap,,
  12. Drill 2 holes in bar near ends ,, meaning one near saw and other near sprocket
  13. Drill 2 holes in bar near ends ,,,, drill 2 holes to match in tube ,,,, use threaded rod to connect the tube to bar with nuts either side of bar and use nuts either side of tube to keep to required cutting depth ,,,
  14. Youll wreck it using electric planer ,, there only any use for rough timber removal ,,
  15. HELLO,,, youll need to get the old hand plane out,, lay them together and mark the sticky out bits ,then plane a little off ,, try them back together and keep going till your happy ,, there is a cheat i sometimes use ,, when sort of happy with the joint you can use a small v groove in between the 2 boards to make the joint stand out ,,
  16. Ive found a similar fault on a big old beech tree,, theres a tel wire just about touching it and another inline with the way it would fall,,, the branch is about 20 inch and has cracked on the bend were it shoots up about 40 feet,, first question asked about prices ,, i just sent £234 out this week for them to come and drop the line 100yards up drive for 2 hours ,, its single line to the house that needs dropped , ive been told the price depends on number of house holds on the line to be dropped ,, im still waiting for a date for them to come ,, but there only on 3 day weeks due to holidays etc,, im hoping to send the agent some pictures of the cracked limb and theyll drop the lines at the cracked branch while there here ,hopefully no extra money , i dont climb but do know a surgeon ive used before ,, i would put some pictures on here but the loading aint the same as ebay
  17. not sure who else does cannon bars over here,, i had no problems with them,,,,
  18. hello,, ive got a 60inch cannon bar,, my husky 3120 turns it the same as my old 42 inch solid nose bar,, sprocket alot better than solid nose,, tavistock chainsaws sell cannon bars over here
