  1. When you say west side roughly where May be able to help
  2. So after my chipper was stolen I'm after a new one. I don't think I can afford brand new so I'm testing the water to see if anybody is looking at selling there's. Very open minded as to what's about. Looking to go for a tracked machine if the right one is about. If anybody has anything available then there is cash waiting. Willing to travel. Send me a message if this is of interest Simon
  3. Cheers div_h Hoping to make a few people laugh at the situation as that's the way I'm dealing with it.plus that's kinda my sense of humour Plus what's the point in sitting and dwelling hey. Cheers mate
  4. Cheers John, ended up tree shopping instead down your way at chew valley trees today. Made a change
  5. So my weekend was great I sat down and started on the paper work filling the forms out for the claim. Now I'm not very computer minded. I'm struggling writing this as I have fingers like pig tits. I Keep hitting three buttons at once. So decided to print the forms off and fill them in by hand.. First problem, printers,..always had bad luck with them, the thing decides not to print, my answer of giving it hulk fists didn't work. So sweet talk the wife and she guides me through it. Didn't know there was a power button for it. So I've got all the forms done by now and I start looking in the diary at where I'm supposed to be working, it's starting to hit home how much we rely on things like chippers and kit End up getting stressed by the situattion and take it out on the ones closest me. Not the best thing to do, so I'm sorry love I didn't mean to snap. Advice for others, take your self off to the shed or spare room count to ten and look at the new 2016 stihl calander, it's amazing how much it helps. Next day I get a letter from Gloucestershire constabulary, it reads "Dear mr simon gardiner, thank you for reporting your incident of your stolen wood chipper, after we have found no evidence we have decided to close the case" Well bugger me I thought, they still havent been to the yard to see. Now I'm no Colombo but there are trainer marks, van tyre marks. I understand that recourses are tight but I haven't even seen a police car drive past for a few weeks Oh well, paper work is in the post so watch this space with what happens next. Sorry if it's a bit of a boring thread by I'm actually finding it therapeutic talking to you guys about it. Also any body got any ideas on how to sleep at night.? Insomnia is starting to get to me. Slightest sound and I'm up looking out the window. What was rather disconcerting was the two poor drunk girls catching a sight of me at 2.00am in full glory. That would have been a tricky one to explain if they had been poking around the truck and I had ran out chasing them down the road. All the best guys Simon
  6. First things first, a serious thank you for all the chin up messages and offers for help with regards my stolen chipper. I'm very proud of what I do with my work but what I'm also really proud of is arborists and any body in this sector with how helpful and kind you all are. This job is hard enough as it is but what's always good is to know people are there, so a big tap on the back too everyone hear. I thought I'd start this thread as a short progress story from theft,to new machine. (Fingers crossed) First thing after machine has gone feel like crying, think about giving up, think about going to nearest traveller site. Ring wife and tell her. Second thing kicks in.. Reality,.. Ring police, 999 hi chipper has been stolen,, "is it a emergency?" .. Umm yes but no, "call 101" she says Get through and report it. Lovely lady calms me down and takes all information These people need more credit as she was turning into a mini councler for me, so thank you jane at the other end of the phone. Ring insurance.. Hi arborisk " chipper has been stolen" .. No problem they say and put me through to the relevant department. Within ten minutes all forms are sent via email ready to be filled out. Thanks arborisk for the quick actions so far. One of there requests is to get two formal valuations for the machine. So I ring greenmech, Julian Cullis, well what can I say, top bloke, answers the phone even before he is at work at 8.00 am and is is already talking through my options, I give him all details of the machine and true to his word by the afternoon I have prices and breakdown of costs for the new machine and valuations on mine. So again top job Julian make sue they give you a good xmas bonus. So I make it to site to be greeted with the worlds most tangled mess of mahonia and horse chestnut. Flash back of ten years ago of brash bashing when I couldn't afford a chipper. Quick chuckle to myself and I make a start of brashing up in the landy. 5 truck full of brash later and I'm really starting to miss the old girl, new set of blades in her and it would have done the pile in ten mins, Oh well just kept saying to myself "you won't beat me" That's the end of the first day. Get home nakared and think stuff it I'm having steak for tea, needed it as I was hanging. Open emails on stolen machine forms and think this is one for the wife to help me with, This thread may be useless to read but I thought why not lets record the process for a laugh and see where it takes us. Watch this space Once again cheers guys and gals, have a pat on the back for being the invisible friends that have always got your back. Least our gang is bigger than there's if we all stick together
  7. Well yes if you would have been at my yard this morning, not quite tears but nearly, get greated by a cut chain on the main gate. People in this situation will know that sinking feeling you get... Look round the corner and yes they have had the chipper away. Cut the ground chains and removed all the locks. It's now the second time in six months. Just so gutted, it's not the worlds best chipper it's a Timberwolf 150 on a 2002 plate had only done 830 hours. If anybody does get offered one let me know. If the people who stole it check arb talk then give me a bell as I've got the spare keys if you want them. You have taken my lively hood you might as well have the bloody lot.!! I hope you treat it as well as we did as it was my pride and joy And took me along time to save for it.
