  3. ok , had a very very very near miss the other day , i double check the clamps tight on shoot before i leave home and bugger off for the day this 1 day cut long story short the shoot worked way lose over bumpy roads and came off just missing the car behind as i stopped at junction. luckly nobody was hurt or property damaged and everybody was sweet with what happend. question is , my clamp set it the large metal clamp with the handle , it the other section on other side , is this the same or do they have a washer and nut like mine did have , just like to check
  4. iphone great for during breaktime as can work from truck and follow up emails , leaving home life to not even go on internet and end up on here
  5. the last time i got smashed at work i had a micro dot for breakfast and climbed up a massive bean stalk , belonged to jack i think..
  6. will check out them griffin cases , once i get new phone , sick of my old brick now after 2 weeks - dont leave your nice phone it on the dash board , even for 30mins , i leanrt the hard way a week ago - 4s got nicked - no phone for days n days - lost a job to it as had voice mail to book it in but by time access it job had been passed onto another person .. booooo - i miss my emails at work , maps to get me to a job etc
  7. bit off topic but ive been looking at a iveco , but was 5.2t , was 55 plate , about 55k , clean as out , £4500- but that means o liecence , booooooo , and id have to do my 7,5t liecence. arnt the 3.5t very heavy as a chasis cab ? i like to know the weights of both 3.5 and 5.2 chassis cab i thought about getting the 5.2 , down grading the chassis cab , do the alloy chip box and in time do my liecence and upgrade it , but , the dreaded o liecence.
  8. can any1 sugest a sotware program , mac based , to do automaticaly adjusted spreadsheets or whatever to input all my costs etc... not realy tech minded , just the old abacus
  9. was saying to my wife tonight that i was kind of guiltiy that my mate didnt get back in touch to do what possibly was that job , on the other hand ? who knows what could happen i did see a pic of the snapped stem , and heard a ladder was maybe invovled but i cant realy say thats true , maybe he was up the stem cutting from above not doing a proper cut and the stem has snapped at a weak point with the weight. shame , i remeber being 23 and never even thought of trees being dangerous. on another note made me think about a poplar with a nasty crack i was going to take down soon- think il push for a cherry picker..
  10. someone up my way was killed during sometree work , 23 , was crushed and pronouced dead on scence. whats a little worse is i have a friend who owns the holiday home next door , and he asked me to do some work the other week and put me onto the commity to do the whole place. he never got back to me...
  11. some nasty prices there , i paid £150 , thou i do know the lad .. good luck
  12. they dont call me Dr Green for nothing
  13. personaly 8 - 5 monday to friday is a no go - 5pm til bed time and weekends is ok as after work time, what an emplyie does is upto them. but to take a lend in worktime is no good , that includes both employie and employer
  14. forgto about winter coming - think il work a 4day week 8-4 to spread the work out after a busy summer , sorry did i say summer ? whats that
  15. im a firm believer in quality not quantity - i supose reguards'is it worth it' depends on circumstances - my woodland/hideaway for chip n timber storage is £400 a year , so if i can shift 400 worth a year and get somewhere to cut n split all my own timber , thats great. im sure after many years of sundays cutting n splitting timber at my yard at home the neighbours would soon get pissed off. guy near mine does a builders sack of softwood £50 , yeah , thats cheap , but most of mine is hardwood , but who do you think people will go for ? doesnt bother me realy , my gas bils are around £20 a 1/4.
  16. bit of help realy , i wanted to go for a larger vehicle , iveco 5.2 possibly , so after my winter arb project is finished il should be able to carry easy 2t in waste rather than a poor transit load at the fraction of the cost to build. now i understand the O liecence has all sorts of things attached to it such as cpc, regular checks and costs. however the restricted liecence limits user to 50mile radias (i think and i only go that far) and no need for cpc. ive worked in the motor trade since 98 so regualr checks on vehicle i could do myself. so , i short , any body here run a restricted o liecence and carry out most of the work themselfs to keep costs down
  17. i thought £250 for T24EES was a bargin , hiding the age of my van .. snobbery yes but many comment on it . just something else for customers to notice
  18. well uping the game paid off price wise , 3 quotes accepted today , i hear people on here saying 'u might be surpirsed' - tbh - i am shouldnt undervalue the services we provide
  19. yeah total joke - supose that why his trucks a clip. reguards pricing i decided this week to 'up the game' a little bit and charge a decent daily rate rather than thinking i shouldnt charge too much . we shall see .
  20. sorry , what i meant was that i was the groundy and take my tipper/chipper - No climbing for the other party, just that i also climb/hold 38 for ariel H&S bla bla thats £200 when ive got nothing on or a day spare - the subbying is for people i work with regular - other wise average rate is £350 to joe public again thou , it all depends on 'what type of work' your doing aswell , i dont get the big jobs , just easy domestic stuff , not back breaking , i just plod along at a sensible pace. if it was hardwork none stop id charge more on another note , i know of a guy who hires himself out for £150 a day , tipper , 150tw and he grounds. not a chance. another guy quoted £120 to do a conni hedge reduction that i got in the end , i took me most of the day ,truck full of waste but got the right cash for thr job - in other words , he was going to work for £120 for nealry all day .. crazy
  21. what would you think is a fare price for truck , 125 and a groundy/backup climber subbyin out???? £200 sound fare
  22. Turns out on route to the job somehow the insides of the chipper (flywheel/blade area) got full of water with the heavy rain , which then with all the sap from prevoius days work plus all the dirt turned the water black with what looked like oil . Being very carefull i shut it down and decided not to use it futher what with prevoius problems An idiotic move however could have went the opposite way if it was broken and i decided to use it. thanks anyways - fingers crossed it realy ok when i use it properly tomorrow
  23. Just on a job an the 125 has poured hydro oil all over. Don't have time to look now until tonigh. But leak is from inside were flywheel Is as took side cover off for a look Ideas before I look tonight. Got a feeling I'm going to be spending more money Only just replaced engine
  24. says expierenced workers , so maybe thats why they are shorter course times. yeah , i noticed the bargin price
