  1. Been to a few over the years, but one or 2 do really stand out above the others, Clapton was fantastic, Rodger Waters the Wall was a light show and special affects gig was out of this world (most expensive ticket i bought yet £95) Tom jones was the ultimate show man, Mccartney was very good, Bon Jovi at Stoke was just full of MILF, but the best so far has to be the Sex Pistols at MEN on there 25th aniversary tour, Worst one i been to was the Buzzcocks,,
  2. i very much dought it as she officially belongs to the vets 3 and half year old daughter, and i could not take any thing off a child, i am going to ask if i can work the dog on our shoot over the winter tho,,
  3. Very much so stubby, I think by time she goes home she will be a different dog ?? The jade out last Thursday with us had working dogs for 45 yrs and his words where, to say you only had it 2 days its worked well for you today, and TBH she has surprised me as well,,,
  4. Well after my episode with my younger dog and the rat bait a few wk back, I now have a lodger for a month, she came last Tuesday and is my vets dog, her name is Purdey just gone 2yr old more of a pet but has been out on about 3 shoots, I spent last Tues aft with whistle work, recall and stopping we did a bit of retrieving with a tennis ball, wed we had 3 training sessions over the day, then Thursday I was asked to get rid of some pigeons on a laid wheat field, so off we went with new best mate closely following behind, I think the photos say it all but this little dog worked her arse off for me and I an sure she had a ball doing what she should ve doing,
  5. Is no one else being asked by customers ATM, is it cheaper if i pay cash ?? this last 10/12 mth i seem to of been asked a lot more about cash payments than the last 5 or 6 years, which is just a sign of the times really with every thing around us going up and people just trying to save a few quid here n there,
  6. Just use a pallet collection and delivery company, would be cheapest way of doing,,
  7. Think i would be looking at locking tabs as well as they dont look even, had a similar problem on a hydraulic tank few years back and ended up putting a plastic sleeve made from a pop bottle inside the gauze filter inside the tank, problem solved,
  8. 😂😂😂😂 course it was 😂😂
  9. Eh obviously !!
  10. If i remember right my first mortgage was taken out in 1986 and interest rate was around 16%, i didnt get any help either just did a few more hrs during the wk and probably worked all day saterday and possibly sunday till lunch time to make the payments,, we are a long way from 16% ATM with it only being at 5% and people are asking to be helped out all ready !! If interest rates keep rising with it being forcast to hit 6 - 6.5% this side of christmas there will be some people in the shit, a lot has changed about our life style in the last 25-30 yrs, mobile phone bill every month, credit card bills, cars on HP and god knows what else on monthly payments ? back when i did it it was quite simple as if we could not afford it we simply didnt have it until we could afford it,,
  11. Some of em could be worth more than face value, as mike says above, Christopher collects,, i watched a few of his videos and yes they are interesting, some coins where struck with defects, some years are low mintage, these are the ones collectors will pay for, i just recently emptied a tin and put all the commemrative coins to one side and the rest i will go through one day,, its a 1933 (i think) penny you need to find as only about 12 where stamped with that year on and worth about 70 80k,,
  12. All the older tractors and machinery where very over engineered and as the saying goes built to last,, bloke in yard next to us has 5 fast tracks and there is a JCB van there nearly every wk ?? But it's the same with anything mechanical all the damage can be done in the first 2 or 3 years from new if that machine is not looked after correctly, buying a machine from a big company ? Or buying a may be older machine from a one man band owner operator , for me it would be the later as I feel it would of been far better looked after, Diggers are a good machine in forestry but are only as good as the operator sat on it, we use a 2,7 tonne digger and it has its place where its worth its weight in gold as some jobs it makes such light work of things ,, only issue is rubber tracks and stumps as you just need to watch what your doing and keep off em or you will spend half a day putting tracks back on ,,
  13. Thats a 65 million dollar question,, Forestry is about the harshest enviroment you can put machinery in to, and when when you look back at what machines have been used in forestry work over the years in the uk some things just speak for there selves,, after the war is was the green standard Fordsons, then came the E27 Major, then the Major E1A, power major ,super major, then came the Grandaddy of em all the County,s, as far as i am concerned the county 1164 and 1174 where probably the 2 best machines that have gone in to forestry work, all ways started no matter how cold it was, cheap to run for what they where, and when it came to repair,s they where cheap to repair and easy to work on, and as one old guy told me many years ago simplicity is reliability, there are many old Majors and Countys out there that are still doing a trouble free weeks work, the machines of today are just like our cars full of electrics and sensors and that to me just spells trouble at some point in its life,,
  14. I will keep this as short as I can , so Friday late aft I get a call from the vet that Asha has started eating a bit and vet said she was very happy with her progress and felt that she could come home, so went to collect her on sat morning at 11, when I got to the vets I was pulled to one side abd told that Asha had gone downhill dramatically over night and was in a bad way , when we went through to where she was I could not believe what I so, she didn't know who I was, her eyes where very pale, and her stomach was heavenly swollen and the most noticeable change was she was very jumpy and nervous, not a nice thing to see and what a way to go for a young dog at 30 mths old that was showing so much enthusiasm and prommiss, so I had to make the dession that this was the end and put her to sleep,, not nice at all, so I am a bit pissed off ATM took my 2 yrs to find her and she been with us 2 and a half yrs, R,I,P Asha,,
  15. Go for it as you wont have any thing to loose, and as the saying goes nothing ventured nothing gained,, i did something simular way back in 1980/81 buying, refurbing and selling Yamaha FS1E,s, the sports moped of the day, it put money in the bank and bought me my first van in 1982, happy days, But you have a big advantage over what and when i was doing it and thats the internet, as today every thing is at your finger tips on most mobile phones, parts supply, information and if you get a bit stuck on a issue there is generally a video on youtube to watch and put you right,, Just go for it,, and i for one would be very interested in how you progress so please keep us posted,,good luck,,
  16. Good to see a young man making good use of his spare time and changing it in to something useful as well as increasing his bank balance, most 15 yr olds around me are just weed heads and a waste of space,,
  17. Just a update,, Well a lot has happened since last post, all this started a wk today since when Asha through her tea up, Friday she was drinking a lot more than usual abd bringing it back, sat she started passing blood so of to vets and treated for a viral infection and suspected rat poision consumption, sat and sun she was very lethargic and now drinking very little, started syringing water In to her mouth o Sunday, Monday back to vets bloods taken and results back over night, Tuesday when results back ut was in to the vets again abd Asha put on a drip abd been there ever since, last thing she ate was a wk ago but just had a report from the vet abd she has eaten a little today so fingers crossed we are coming out the other side now,, its as I said to some one today if a labrador don't eat for a day it's ill yet alone nothing for a wk ,, all been confirmed as rat poision ingested and we just been to get her eating now to clean her gut out,, not be long before she is out charging about and doing 100 mile a day,,
  18. Yes, them men had balls of steel, and thats for all off them, they guy where i cut my teeth in forestry and in a saw mill was in a tank regiment in north Africa under the command of Montgomery, the things he told me in the late 70s early 80s about his war antics where of great interest, he told me about being hold up about 30 mile from a German fighter base, they had 6 tanks all como netted up out of sight and they where there hold up for 3 wk just waiting for the wind direction to change before a early morning attack on the fighter base, when they got there there was only 12 planes there, when they left there was 12 destroyed planes all fuel burnt and viechiels destroyed and a unusable runway, after this the 6 tanks split in to 3 groups of 2 and went in 3 different directions to make the search harder for the germans, all the tank regiment guys survived with just 2 wounded, 80 degrees in the day and minus 15 at night, every credit to em ,,
  19. Yes East kirkby, its owned by 2 brothers and it is being fully restored it was forecast that it would of been flying for the 80th aniversery of the Dams raid but Covid put a stop to that like many other things,
  20. biggest problem with a lot of quads you see for sale on the likes of flebay or market place is a lot of them have been nicked and all ID removed, personally i would be spending a bit more and buying from a reputable dealer,, good luck and be careful, its not that long since a local farm to me had a quad returned that had been stolen in 2009 with only 3 miles more on the clock than it had when stolen,,
  21. Thats what i mean , but you or me place the cameras to moniter deer population, or in my case ATM with a property we own thats still in the stage of probate being granted, the cameras are placed to monitor the rodent population, i wont print what we have captured but they do work,,
  22. Not a very good attempt,, it will be just a log fairy with his new Gardentech chainsaw from B&Q, or who ever it was ain't got a clue what ther doing, they world is full of them, wildlife cameras at access points but only put there to monitor deer population, its there tough shit if you catch someone,,
  23. That's the Lancaster that was at Blackpool for years, NX611 and not a bullet hole in it as it never so active service, it is well on the way to being airworthy once again,,
  24. knew i had a better photo,,
  25. we use one for getting about on sites, some days its worth its weight in gold, i put a box on the rear of it and all so have another for on the front rack, we all so have a small trailer with quad wheels and cage sides, well worth there money but be careful on steep ground with em, slow and steady wins the race many a day,,
