  1. I dont think any one will be going round with a tape measure, so just crack on and say nowt, i never known a trainer check bar lengths,,
  2. There is a few things in this country that should not be here at all , mink from north America, Grey Squirrels from America, signal cray fish from America, all 3 have caused problems with our native wild life,, there are a few other things that should not be in the UK as well but sorry i cant mention them as i would probably get locked up,, The signal crayfish make very good eating just use the tails, we used to catch loads on Loch Ken and have a boil up, shelled off back in to a warm pan with a bit of butter and kayam pepper give em a good shake and get themall coated in butter and pepper, quite tasty
  3. 20cm 25cm and the odd bigger one could all be done with a 6 - 8 tonne machine with ease, i have done many areas of stumps that size with a 2,7tonne machine with fixed grab,, no matter how big the machine is, it is only as good as the operator working it,
  4. Is there not a fuel cut off tap/leaver on the tank ? if not just rem=new the inline filter, all fuel contains a percentage of water and on hot days it seperates and builds up in the fuel tank, i just had a dumper pack up and the fuel filter was full of water, emptied it out and off we go again,,
  5. thats just a common in line filter just put a new one on, but before you put the fuel line on the in feed side check that there is a good flow of fuel,, if not check fuel tap on tank as it could be partly blocked,,
  6. That clear filter as described will probably have water in it ?? and it sounds as if there could be a gause filter in the tank or a in line filter tucked away some where just clean them all out or renew,,
  7. Well the vet appeared today as arranged and was here for approx an hr, Purdey did not make the fuss I thought she would of made over her owner,, we had a brew and chatted about Purdey and the time spent here with me, before I could ask I was offered if I wanted to pick this dog up and take her out working it will not be a problem, them came the question of would I have Purdey for another 2 wk as the vet is looking after a friend's dig that has just had surgery on a rear leg so needs to be rested ,, eh yes she can stop here no probs, so we had a quick look out late this aft after the rain stopped and bagged 2 pigeons,, so I am quite happy ATM as my bew best mate has obtained a holiday extension ๐Ÿ˜€
  8. Well the last month has sure gone fast, my lodger goes home tomorrow and I will surely miss her, its been great having Purdey here and really inspired me to up my game at looking for a new pup, me and purdey have had a great time out training and some days in the hide pigeon shooting we have had some good days with the best day being last saturday with a mixed bag of pigeons and crows at 224, this was a big day for a young dog so she was held back a fair bit but when it came time to pick up i let her do her bit, fed her her breakfast Sunday morning then she went straight back to bed and snoring like a gud un after 10 mins, well I am sure she will miss me and all the time spent in the great out doors, but I am sure she will be coming back soon,,
  9. A lot of stuff in that auction went for peanuts and TBH they would of got better prices on a car boot sale !!!
  10. Yep I fully understand that one, as i told the old boy out yesterday with me, pigeons will be here today gone tomorrow and when I ring other people all I get is, its a bit short notice,,
  11. I see so many breeds of working dogs around be that are just mental and vastly over weight,, I took a elderly gent out this aft pigeoning abd TBH I would not of thought he knew so much bad language,, he just said I have shot about 80 shells for half a dozen birds and that has been a big education for me,, I let him take most of the shots first but the old lad was struggling, he said he had spent 1000s over the years on grouse partridge and pheasant shooting but never experienced pigeon shooting abd it's like starting at the bottom again ,, and like your spaniel thus lab was getting a bit board ,,
  12. Well it's all going well, my lodger has been here 3 Wk today and now going in to her last wk, i will certainly miss her when she goes back home, she will probably not want to go home as she will of had a ball here with me, out every day training and a few days out pigeon shooting biggest bag so far 135 so she been kept busy, Last Friday we took young Eddie out with us and he was made up with having his photo taken with 2 dogs and the few birds we got, the last photo purdey just sat there watching me sorting some ear ups out and a few other bits, she was just watching as if to say WTF you doing I am ready to go hurry up ,,,
  13. Sounds about right for the tradesman of today, its not that long since i got a lad to look at my gas boiler, it was not swapping over from hot water to the heating ?? he just tried it and said you need a new boiler and that will be ยฃ1800 fitted and all set up,,with in an hr of him leaving i had taken the change over valve off and stripped it down and found the diaphragm had split, so ordered a new one from plumbing merchants and fitted it day after, ยฃ15 and all working again, i only know one decent plumber heating lad that i would trust out of about 12 i know and he is now semi retired but in his late 60s now,,
  14. Most dogs have a incredible sence of smell , some say 700 times better than ours and some say up to 1200 times better than us, there is a young lady not to far from me that trains dogs that go to the MOD, police, fire brigade and the UK border agencies, she probably trains between 20 to 30 dogs a year but last time i was talking to her she said only about 60% make the grade, she said she bought 6 lab dog pups all from same litter and only 1 made the grade then 4 pups again same litter 2 bitches and 2 dogs and all 4 made the grade, Last night was interesting we was out dog training 1 lab just gone 2, 1 springer 11 mth 1 cocker 5yr and 1 cocker 7yr, lad i was with got a brand new training dummy out of its plastic wrapper and placed it about 50yds down a fence side, none of the 4 dogs picked it ?? i then replaced it with a well used dummy and all 4 dogs picked it, so no or very little scent on the new dummy but loads on the old dummy then when i smell the dummies they dont smell that much different ?? but my sence of smell is no where near what a dogs is ?? dogs are just amazing at finding things,,
  15. I think i would be ditching the Dewalt glass,s given the colour of them ,, i have been stung with a few wasps over the years but in 2016 i had a bad experiance with them , we where out pigeon shooting a long the side of a main land drainage ditch that has some steep sides, when we came to tidy up i knew there was 2 birds on the ditch side when i walked a long the ditch i could see the birds and instead of putting a dog over as it was a fair old jump back over the fence, i decieded i would get em myself, so when i got to a suitable spot to get over the fence the ground erupted under my feet and before i knew i was doing about 20mph across a piss wet throug stubble field in wellies, never run as fast for years, ended up with 38 stings on me that where all over my body and even down my wellies, my face and my kneck where the worst and all swelled up, and yes i did feel shit for a few days and yes i did consider A&E but never got there
  16. Might of been , i got in the cupboard, but that concert i went to was awfull they needed to turn something down and something up as you could not hear much of Pete Scheely
  17. Been to a few over the years, but one or 2 do really stand out above the others, Clapton was fantastic, Rodger Waters the Wall was a light show and special affects gig was out of this world (most expensive ticket i bought yet ยฃ95) Tom jones was the ultimate show man, Mccartney was very good, Bon Jovi at Stoke was just full of MILF, but the best so far has to be the Sex Pistols at MEN on there 25th aniversary tour, Worst one i been to was the Buzzcocks,,
  18. i very much dought it as she officially belongs to the vets 3 and half year old daughter, and i could not take any thing off a child, i am going to ask if i can work the dog on our shoot over the winter tho,,
  19. Very much so stubby, I think by time she goes home she will be a different dog ?? The jade out last Thursday with us had working dogs for 45 yrs and his words where, to say you only had it 2 days its worked well for you today, and TBH she has surprised me as well,,,
  20. Well after my episode with my younger dog and the rat bait a few wk back, I now have a lodger for a month, she came last Tuesday and is my vets dog, her name is Purdey just gone 2yr old more of a pet but has been out on about 3 shoots, I spent last Tues aft with whistle work, recall and stopping we did a bit of retrieving with a tennis ball, wed we had 3 training sessions over the day, then Thursday I was asked to get rid of some pigeons on a laid wheat field, so off we went with new best mate closely following behind, I think the photos say it all but this little dog worked her arse off for me and I an sure she had a ball doing what she should ve doing,
  21. Is no one else being asked by customers ATM, is it cheaper if i pay cash ?? this last 10/12 mth i seem to of been asked a lot more about cash payments than the last 5 or 6 years, which is just a sign of the times really with every thing around us going up and people just trying to save a few quid here n there,
  22. Just use a pallet collection and delivery company, would be cheapest way of doing,,
  23. Think i would be looking at locking tabs as well as they dont look even, had a similar problem on a hydraulic tank few years back and ended up putting a plastic sleeve made from a pop bottle inside the gauze filter inside the tank, problem solved,
  24. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ course it was ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
