  1. My TW 125 dose better on conifer than the bandit 65LX. Bet the 190 is a good chipper but would cost me more than the bandit and those bearings in chocolate frighten me had a fan fly out the shot on mine.
  2. Well said but sometimes I feel like they are all as bad as each outer.
  3. Oh and petrol costs a lot and it can use some too. A light deasl engine that I could run on red would save trips to the petrol station.
  4. I got the 252 very solid and is going to out last the engine easy. Three wheels gives much much more access to tight corners you wouldnt get round with four wheels but is not stable and mine has been over before I never really got to the bottem of it. I think they were manourvering on the cutting wheel and she went over easy to do on three wheels. The nackerd 25 or 27 hp petrol engine needs more ummfff and it would be a great little machine all be it unstable.
  5. Any one sharpen their own chipper blades. I have been sharpening my blades on the TW for 4 years now no problems. I use a white stone to sharpen and plunge in water to keep them cool. I never weigh them but on those pencile sharpener blades there isnt much to weigh. The problem is that now I have a bandit 65 and thinking about sharpening and not so shaw about the bigger lump of metal. Any ideas welcome.
  6. Thats one hell of a spanner infront of that block! What size is that. HSE would have a field day, keep them busy for a year or two:001_tt2:
  7. Hey Monkey-D We can also take a look at individual trees and there impact ecological cultural and psychological bla bla. We retain the fact that they are all different and play different parts in the "urban landscape" thats OK.
  8. So you are saying that its ok to climb when a mobile platform can be used and or employ someone to do so?
  9. Well most of the things I have learned in my climbing life have been through working with other climbers and my own experiments. I see that the people around me in the industry are not really readers or writers my self includid it is after all a practical skilled job. Learnnig to climb, weld, lay bricks or even be a doctor come from contact and experince. I wouldnt rope into something the size of my wrist but I would be more likley to listen to someone with experince than what had been writen by some one with none.
  10. Dose it have to be in print to be of value ?
  11. Well here is one ! actually it is an eu wide reg. If access, a platform must be used. try doing a quote and explanning to the customer why you are twice the price of a decent climber.
  12. I wish I could remember the formula. Something like distance times weight times gravity (gravity being 1.5) Any way take a climber 80 kg and a fall of 1m and he has a value of 1 ton on impact. Thats a lot to ask a branch the size of my wrist. May be someone can remind me of the formula.
  13. I am sure HSE will be happy to hang an other mill stone around the neck of this industry:thumbdown:. I already dont think that the ordinary self respecting tree surgeon can respect all the regs and stay competative. Which is why there are some many small companies that slip under the radar.
  14. Good question I spent years getting the dusty old stuff out of my ears eyes and ass
  15. Well got the bandit. Built like a brick ...... house Put next to the TW and the size diffrance is the first thing you notice. Does take a lot bigger narly old branches and can be feed by 2, try to feed the TW with 2 and you spend half the time looking at groundies bum. The roller problem is not really solved but I can live with the result of the new roller. It blocks up the roller on coniffer and did an abies the other day and was shocked. Will keep the Tw 125, just to good to let go. Will go anywhere and dose chipp up well on small jobs. I have 2 subies and the first thing they said is "what you going to do with the TW" Over all the The Bandit is a hell of a lot of chipper for the price and IMHO the 6 by 12 inch letter box entry makes it is twice the chipper a TW 150 would be and the equivelent of a 7.5 machine entry . Bandit dose need to sort out a better in feed and the paint job is a bit limit. Mine is the 65 XL 16 cm entrance with 35 HP but you can get the same with 18cm entrance and 45 HP I would think that if funds allowed this would be a really difficult chipper to beet for the price. Not that suffisticatted a chipper though but I like that because I will be easy to work on if I have problems. It will take the work load of the TW and I got 2 good chippers long turm.
  16. I put all my 020s into retirment on the ground. They are light easy on the back fit into the chipper hopper (where I put kit) and like that I always have a spare and or parts. deck it and you dont have a mile of chain to sharpen and cost less to fill up. Is this considered bad practice now.
  17. Thats a good one! I've never seen one that bad before. Gloves are hard to work in I know, Dont use then much.
  18. Its a tough world and compertion is great. I used to work in surrey and a farmer turned up and planted a load of strawberries which he needed picking. Local cost of living is expensive and therefore wages for labour was high so he just got 40 poles over and nocked out the local labour market. I think you need to be ready to look for other work even if its just to be able to explain that you have had other job offers to your boss if he wants to keep you he will pay you a bit more or may be he wont and you will have to ask your self if you really want to stick with him.
  19. So every body sits in a warm car except the older couple. What has happened to common sense. HSE did nothing when the police shot an innocent men 4 times in the head but you try and do the senseable thing and they are all over you.
  20. Lucky Tom! wish I had a start like that. Had dirt sweat and twigs in my eyes doing this job for the last 20 years and never the chance to some of those things. Looks like you got a good reference too He will go far

    Libya

Dose that mean you have know opinion, couldnt care less, or are we all missing something that only you understand ?

    Libya

We dont give out aide because we are the nice the guys. we do it to get favours and we dont go helping the poor oppressed people of Libya because we are nice ether. We give India a few million in aid because they spend billions and billions on arms and were do do think they buy them? What the politicians really mean by protecting the people of Libya is. Our country is in the grips of a recession and looking like a difficult few years ahead. New arms contracts and a load of easy oil would help a lot. Extending the length of a cival war is going to cost more lives not less and as discovered with the gulf war troops will have to go in on the ground to change the regime and regime change is the goal.
  23. Well you got to laugh. Made me laugh anyway. Bet the little **** feels less cool now he is an international film stare.
  24. Sorry Yanks isnt very politically correct but I read some stuff that came from over your way and the man on the street seems to be well informed. They add nuts and packing to chocolate because its cheeper than chocolate. We cant see what they add to fuel so god only knows what is added:001_huh:
  25. Whats new is that jobs worth wants a pay rise and new desk so we have to pay for it. 80 pounds for a paper payed for already by the tax man.
