  1. Rhys trees mog in action
  2. That's what we are using black manager cards blue skilled operative and cpcs for machines. Got told on a site run by a large national builder the other day that we are not allowed to use a chainsaw, despite them calling us in to cut down multiple trees.
  3. Ic trees this is my argument. They wouldn't issue labourers cards for me in September, another lad tried to get his last month got told the same had to do Rolo course. Last week groundie got white card as a tractor driver for £17.50 with basic touch screen test, he's never driven a tractor in his life. When we turned up with Rolo cards to one site they wouldn't let us on as they don't recognise it. But in thirteen years I've only been asked for nptc a handful of times.
  4. You have to do the Rolo test now, absolute minefield. Did mine through arb association cost £120 as a member then you do CItb Cscs test £17.50 then you can apply to Bali for the card at £34, then you turn up on site and the agent doesn't recognise the card and some sites want a copy of your health and safety course certificate as well. If you have a level 2 nvq in arb this is sometimes accepted by Bali instead of doing the one day course, depends on who you get through too at bali.
  5. That's what we use. Get them made at local printers. Makes life so much easier, job description, site layout risks hazzards, kit required extra info date quote requested date visited date booked, customer details and t&c's on rear. Customer gets a copy we have a copy in office and a copy goes with Rams for job folder, for us to do job. This all means when boss isn't about and a job gets called off or something we can go to the to do folder and find something to do for the day. We take an iPad to do quotes so we can use PDFs expert to fill out quotes and email them to customer with same form, plus it means we have aps like tree height pro to use on site and map pad to make a site plan.
  6. There's a crew going around South Wales valleys area at mo, they are targeting tools. The police have said they are using chalk to mark properties to target. They are watching / following people to lockups and homes, then they mark an x or an arrow to show whether to do house or shed etc. this crew are using vw passats as they're favourite method of transport. Police think they are from the Merthyr area, so watch out anyone local. These guys have no problems doing their thing in the day or night and don't care if people are about.
  7. Thanks for the replys, been a bit of a nightmare lately had my house burgled two weeks ago now van. All I can say is be careful out there everybody, too many people looking for a quick buck with no cares about taking someone's living.
  8. We've got them on cctv so have next door but they are driving with false plates. Got some nerve the new lad was less than ten mtrs away when they did it. Worst of all they spilt my coffee all over the seat in van. Lucky enough they didn't take my climbing kit which was on top of saw in kit bag. It was a newish shape Passat with a y reg plate on it silver in colour, two guys mid twenties big but scruffy. Js lee boys said they had an accent, not local.
  9. They did my van whilst we were cutting logs up around corner, they did another truck outside gregge then js lee boys got robbed of a long reach hedge cutter further along the estate. Js lee boys went for them with a rake and they just laughed and drove off with hedge cutter.
  10. Hi Sam its john from the shop it was my van that got done outside shop
  11. Had my van broken into today, amongst other things a 261 was taken. The offenders were driving a silver vow Passat newish model with a stolen number plate on the car. They also stole a long reach hedge cutter from another company working just down the road from us. Police say they have had 8 thefts reported to them with same vehicle involved in two hours. Beware everyone local they are on the prowl..
  12. Pencoed college or try forest park and garden in reforest.
  13. I've got to say I was rather impressed with the police response as I live in a rural village and with all the press lately saying they are not responding to 'minor' crimes like burglaries and assault!
  14. on a similar note i had an attempted breakin at my house last tuesday, Which was my birthday so was hoping for a lie in when i was woken by my rear neighbour calling me. i assumed his sheds where under attack so i ran out rear doors to see a lad on my right climbing my side fence, automatic reaction was to lash out at him and he promptly fell 8 foot onto my neighbours block paving. whilst this was happening my rear neighbour had managed to catch another lad exiting into the side road. He was begging to be let go saying it wasn't him it was his mate who was trying to steal my quad. my neighbour phoned the police who arrived before he had finished on the phone to them. 2 police cars and at least 2 riot vans arrived and carted of them off. Result.

  19. Nothing ever worked for me until I tried something called happy nose from chemists, it's like a Vaseline with decongestant included costs about 3 quid a tube, you put a dab around your nostrils and it catches the pollen, now I don't have any trouble with hayfever.
  20. Quadbike Wales in pontardawe use to sell rack mount saw holder's you could mount it on trailer easy enough. They have a website and are pretty helpful.
  21. That's similar to what we use, a twin axle Vermeer 1400 mounted on a turntable chassis with a tow on the blade of our excavator. Perfect for veg clearance.
  22. Adrian flux was best price I found for the cover.
  23. Speak to Rhys or Kate at forest park and garden they can arrange it for you. P.s. how's the rake.
  24. Try Chris Howells timber in Caerphilly, he buys ours.

    Unimog

The company I work for runs a u 300 Lwb with side tip chip box and a timber crane on rear three point linkage. It's either used with a bc1400 behind it or mostly as a tow vehicle for our timber trailer which doubles as a plant trailer for 5.5 t excavator, tractor or platform. When on site the 5.5 tonner drags the chipper about and the mog extracts timber.
