1. No, another solution presented itself so I didn't need to buy one, luckily. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
2. M&L used to have one and I used to have a freelancer who worked for them then. He reckoned it was great and the only draw back was the height to lift everything into the back. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
3. What is your motivation for gaining these certs? Are you a gardener, home owner with woodland, taking a career into Arb etc.....? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
4. It doesn't matter how you make the vehicle look. When you're overloaded, you're overloaded. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
5. Well that was 17 months ago so I imagine he's sold it and is probably abroad by now. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
6. Morons! However, as a contract climber it's not your job to ensure the ground crew is proficient. If the job runs late because of the ground crew, it's the bosses job to employ better people. Frustrating for you though. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
7. Well it crossed my mind because it negates the need for an expensive to run chipper. A bin lorry should cost the same as running a normal lorry. Although turning up in a bin lorry to prune Mrs Miggins' Apple tree may be a bit OTT. Lol! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
8. I got the three adjustable legs 3.6m tall from Northern Arb Supplies. Thoroughly recommendable. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
9. Just wondered if a bin lorry is good for dealing with tree waste. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
10. That's good advice Henry and if it doesn't fit on the drive, the gates can go through the chipper! Problem solved.
11. I wonder how many people don't realise that the ear muffs have adjustment screws to alter the pressure on the head. It makes a difference.
12. I meant 2.9m wide. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
13. I meant gate is 2.9m wide. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
14. It is going for FREE but I won't have a crane so you'll need a suitable lorry. Tree is about 28m tall. Circumference is 4.95m. Access is 2.m wide (3m at a push). Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
15. Any takers? It is going for FREE but I won't have a crane so you'll need a suitable lorry. Tree is about 28m tall. Circumference is 4.95m. Access is 2.m wide (3m at a push). Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
16. ...... and they won't release for years. Then postpone it. Then postpone it! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
17. That's my dream mower. 3 strips on my lawn and it would be done! Actually my dream mower would be that, pushed by Rhona Mitra in a wet t-shirt!
18. Did the tree recover it is it now an Ivy covered Hell? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
19. 'A year or two to get competent' I would add a bit to that. The more you learn about trees, the more you realise you don't know. After 3 years of full time work and study (if you study) you'll discover just how little you actually know! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
20. Solent Body Builders will do the job just as good but for less money. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
21. Good idea. Can you put a photo up? Do you think he'd make more for us? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
22. In mid September I'm dismantling a Redwood tree. I have put a thread on General Chat about it. It's in Horley, Surrey. Access is good for a big lorry and I may dismantle with a crane. Tree is about 95ft tall and typical. Client knows it has a value but I've told him to keep realistic. If you're interested call Al on 07834 414271 or pm me. Thanks.
23. You're right but I was thinking of people like me who need a tracked chipper for only 10-20% of jobs annually. A funky little trailer like that would keep it like a tow-along for most of the time and give the flexibility of a tracked when it's needed. Maybe I'm off the mark and just thinking out loud.
24. I've just found out about the little trailer that Greenmech do for their 6" tracked chipper. What a great idea for making things easy and keeping the chipper low so that it can be fed on the trailer. I wonder if Forst will do the same thing? Oh, and a fold down chute for people that store in shipping containers.
25. Hi Monkey. It's pointless arguing about the Stein Trolley any more but suffice to say that: 1. It is very well made because it's more than strong enough for purpose. 2. If time was spent fabricating a precision engineered work of art, you would be even more upset about the retail price. 3. The stein Bollards have to be well finished because running ropes are in contact with them. The fact is, it is designed and manufactured to move branches and logs efficiently (without bells & whistles) and there is nothing else on the market that is as good. You will soon realise that you have spent your money wisely and will have no regrets. Enjoy.
