I am aware of the previous absolutly gross inefficiencies of our Housing Executive. Who through direct labour were costing 2 or 3 times as much to build a house or dwelling from scratch, compared to the much maligned private sector. I understand their in-house repair and maintenance costs were even more askew. Plus currently here in Northern Ireland, the precieved shortage of "Council" houses is, in large, generated through benefit fraud. Dysfunctional benefit claiming families, claim to fall out with each other, and unable to live under the same roof. Our generous non questioning benefits system then supplies each of them with a seperate dwelling, rent-free (or rents paid through their benefits), which properties either lie empty, or are privately sub-let. So if any group of people/workers club together, pay their dues, elect a great leader and gain a stranglehold on a particular trade. It is considered normal to cut a PTO shaft to length. The geometery/link arm length/PTO stub position varies so much between tractor brands and sizes. So the PTO's are generally supplied on the long side. One size fits all. And yes need to be surprisingly shorter than the measured distance to allow for temporarily telescoping shorter to get the end over the PTO stub. Ask me how I know.

Kinda tried to. Was taking the Octavia out, to give the mill the final once over. Then (most probably) hook her on an bring her back. But they are built to order/ none available "Ex stock", apparently. So, Intending to fly out near the end of March and view one working near the factory. cheers m

Gosh Easy-lift guy, I do hope you are not implying that I/me/mesel am not nice looking, i.e. unlike the machine. And yes could toy with early retirment, but requiring a supplementary 2nd income stream.

Absolutly simple, and actually the larger the heat demand, the easier. In that a 75/85/100 kW*Hr boiler will take 1.0m lengths of timber. So less manufacturing of the firewood. Billets all the way Need about 5000litres of buffer tank/calorifier. And 10m of twinwall stainless steel flue. And a humengeous supply of dry dry dry timber. On the other hand a 40/50kW*Hr boiler kept running with a smaller buffer would do. m

Bear in mind Gentlemen, that all firms producing any kind consumer product, will probably "rest on their Laurels" if they have happen to produce a "blinder" of a product. Which in part is often due to as much to serendipity as overall design. On the other hand the survival instinct kicks in if they have inadvertently produced a few "dogs", or acquired a bad reputation. The best example would be cars. So in the short-term "pigeon-holing" a reputation, as good or bad, makes perfect sense, but in the short term only. Any previously reputable brand can be worth re-considering a few years on. Take the Blinkers off chaps. And keep an open mind. m

So a kinda a 50/50 choice, ah kin tak a short week (an the Mrs.) an drive to Liepzig an hook up the 1200kg Winter blockbandsage up to der Skoda, Proper simples/job done. Or do I go for the 3Ph, (but non car-towable 600mm bandwheel equipped for 45mm bands) Polish one, an buy myself a 2nd hand 3Ph Genny. More expensive/more complicated? The wood-pamar guys are happy enough to supply me with a mill sans electric motor, but I suspect I would be better to stick to a factory spec build. Since a Kubota engine would be too heavy and bulky to fit in place of the missing 3Ph motor, hence better with a proper Genny. sigh. PS Currently tending towards the "Winter" option, with the folding bed to allow Euro legal towing. Marcus

Mod-sales do ex army stuff, sommat off the front of a "Mil-spec" loading shovel sounds about right. rated at 10 tonne line capacity, which will probably pull nearer 20. Should be able to source else-where cheaper than mod-sales mind. m

Well DERP!! As wor son is wont to say. Why or how on earth did Esse imagine they could produce a stove/cooker to burn ANY wood, regardless of M/C ,without problems. Unless they had a supplementary gas burner plumbed in. m

Which is where the prevelance of camera phones starts to do good. If one can remember to bring it out and start filiming or snapping. Which is difficult to do.

running a Morso feeding into about 8m of 8" flue. Since 1996, burning 24/7 for 6 or 7 mths of the year. Occassional chimnay fires when running on Birch, but I was banking the fire up at night and screwing the knobs tight to burn all night. This past say 5 or 8 years running on pure Conifer, a mix of Sitka and Lodgepole. Absolutly no chimnay fires, flue "pulls like a train" , but I no longer attempt to burn the fire overnight. The bone dry conifer burns hot and clean. PS The flue has NEVER been cleaned, since 1996. Regards Marcus
